Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828227 Composed by John Hatton. Arranged by Paul Thurmond. 20th Century,Baroque,Christian,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. Paul Thurmond #4968929. Published by Paul Thurmond (A0.828227). Tune: DUKE STREETUse: Prelude, PostludeOne Sunday my church was singing Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun as the opening hymn. It’s our tradition that the last stanza of a hymn is sung in unison, so that I as the organist can change the harmonization and keep things interesting. Sometimes I know ahead of time what I’m going to do, and sometimes I make it up on the spot.On this particular morning I planned on being spontaneous. (Can spontaneity be planned?) When we got to the final stanza, I threw on the 16′ pedal reed and went to town.I don’t know if this is the case for all musicians, but while I’m playing my brain is working on several different levels. Most of these are involved in actually playing the music, but there’s also a running commentary on how things are going. This commentary is usually really boring: It’s going okay. It’s going okay. It’s going okay. Sometimes the messages are more interesting: Uh-oh. She just dropped her mute. I missed that chord; remember to circle it when we’re done. My page turner appears to be on fire. So: We’re in the final stanza of Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun. Big, majestic hymn. Over a hundred congregants and choir members are enthusiastically singing in unison. I’m leading them from the organ with an improvised accompaniment that involves all of my limbs. It’s fair to say that I was concentrating hard.Suddenly the commentary part of my brain breaks in: Dude, your feet are totally playing Canon in D. Cool!Canon in D is the most famous work of Johann Pachelbel, a German composer who preceded Bach by a few decades. It’s overused at weddings, but it’s actually a really good piece of music. The original is for three violins and a basso continuo part, which would usually have been played by harpsichord and cello. In this case, the basso continuo plays the same eight measures again and again throughout the piece. This technique of repetition is called a ground bass. While that’s going on, the violins play several different themes on top of it.When I was improvising that Sunday, my feet had accidentally wandered into that ground bass part, which happened to fit nicely with the melody we were singing. During the sermon (sorry Pastor!) I started going through the violin themes in my head, seeing if any of them could also match up with the hymn tune. Some of them worked and some didn’t. I decided to write a sort of theme and variations, where the hymn tune appears in various forms. Sometimes it’s played along with one of the violin themes, and sometimes a violin theme serves as an interlude on its own. And except for one passage, the left hand is always playing some version of the basso continuo theme. I also changed the meter from 4/4 to 3/4 to make it more interesting. It culminates in a climax worthy of a king. I hope you enjoy it.

String Ensemble Drum Set,Electric Bass Guitar,Piano Accompaniment - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1105087 By David Kai. By David Kai. Arranged by David Kai. Christian,Contemporary,Country,Rock. Accompaniment. Duration 221. David Kai #708333. Published by David Kai (A0.1105087). A song for those grieving the loss of a pet, especially those whose pets support them through issues such as PTSD and depression. The death of a pet is certainly one the most difficult things that pet lovers experience. Pets offer us companionship, affection and healing, but their relatively short lifespan means that we will experience this loss many times in our lives. Many of us take comfort in the idea of a rainbow bridge that our pets cross when they die, and that we too will cross to be united with our pets. This song expresses the grief that we experience with the death of a pet, but also the hope that we will be reunited with them one day. This version of the song is a backing track for a soloist. BEYOND THE RAINBOW BRIDGE by David Kai ©2019 The day that I first met you, I held you in the palm of my hand And from that moment onward I knew that we would be the best of friends And though you started as a Christmas gift to set beneath the tree You know you really were a gift from God to me. We walked through fields and forests, we’d hit the trail in sun and wind and rain When I was at my lowest, you licked my hand and raised me up again But time passed much too quickly, and you know just what you did You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge. I’m not sure what heaven’s like , I’m not sure how things will be But if we won’t be together, it won’t feel like heaven to me But if the Lord be willing, I’ll hear your welcome bark again, And see you running to me, through the golden fields of grain Most faithful of companions, you’d been with me in sickness and in health You always loved to see me, even when I couldn’t really love myself And when you licked my hand that one last time, then you know just what you did You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge. You took a piece of my broken heart beyond the rainbow bridge.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987857 Composed by Robert M. Greenberg. 20th Century. Score and parts. 121 pages. Robert M. Greenberg #115423. Published by Robert M. Greenberg (A0.987857). Preferred Contact Information: RMonteverdi@comcast.net Performing Rights Organization: BMI Website: robertgreenbergmusic.com Facebook Band Page: facebook.com/RobertGreenbergMusic Duration: ca. 21 minutes Year of composition: 1988 Program Note: !. Games (fast) II. Intermezzo: Dreams of Gold (slow) III. Dances (very fast) Child's Play was completed in August, 1988. In no way does the title refer to the technical demands of the piece, which are considerable. Rather, it refers to the endlessly imaginative, energized, and constantly changing play that might be engaged in by four different, though like-minded children. Indeed, the inspiration for the quartet was my then two-year-old daughter Rachel, whose boundless energy and capacity for play I found (and still find) rather terrifying. Child's Play consists of three movements: Games (fast), Intermezzo: Sogni d'Oro (Dreams of Gold) (slow), and Dances (very fast). In Games, four energetic and well-rested players leap out of the starting blocks together and engage in sport of various kinds: running games, chasing games, teasing games, tag, echo games (Simon Says), races, and so forth, eventually returning to the unison from which they began. Intermezzo: Sogni d'Oro (Dreams of Gold) offers a quiet, episodic, dreamlike respite from the frenetic mood of Games. In Dances, the energized character of the first movement resumes, only faster. Dances is a perpetual motion movement in three parts, with a slower, more fragmented middle section sandwiched between a boisterous and frenzied dance of life. This movement ends much in the same way as the first movement began, bringing the circuit of the piece to a close. Child's Play was commissioned by, and is dedicated, with many thanks and great appreciation, to the Alexander String Quartet.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.886925 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Justin M. Ryan. Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 2 pages. Justin M. Ryan #3049867. Published by Justin M. Ryan (A0.886925). Written in 1810 by Ludwig van Beethoven, this classic piece has been brought to the 21st Century and arranged for 2 pianos in 2 different keys simultaneously(G major and D major). Although short in running time, it promises to bring to life the music of the Classical Era. This arrangement is for Teacher/Student. The Students part is the melody being played in both G and D Major and the Teachers part is the left-hand in both keys. This is a good practice piece as it is easily identifiable and promotes ear-training as the student is hearing the melody in 2 different keys. Enjoy this fun ditty.

Cello,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1252822 By Maria Thompson Corley. By Maria Thompson Corley. Arranged by Maria Thompson Corley. 21st Century,Sacred. Score and part. 9 pages. Maria Thompson Corley #846622. Published by Maria Thompson Corley (A0.1252822). “Pax Aeternam” was written in memory of renowned composer Barbara York, a fellow Canadian whom I was blessed enough to meet in person through my interaction with Matt Brown. Though we connected many years into my collaborative piano career, Matt is the first tubist I ever worked with, and Barbara’s music was my favorite part of getting introduced to the tuba literature. I was thrilled to learn how much she appreciated my playing of her work.“How Beautiful” was written in memory of Matt’s son Eli, who had a congenital condition that took his life a few hours after he was born. This flawless piece of music, poignant yet never maudlin, provided the title for a recording Matt and I did of all of Barbara’s tuba output. It also threw down the gauntlet when Danny Rowland approached me, at Matt’s suggestion, about composing a piece. Danny mentioned loving “How Beautiful,” and intending to commission Barbara, who’d recently passed on. I’d never written for the tuba before, but felt absolutely no pressure. That’s a lie.Like “How Beautiful,” “Pax Aeternam” is in a major key; in my case, I wanted to evoke wistfulness rather than despair. Barbara’s path was full of suffering, and having lost a brother to prolonged illness, I’ve come to embrace the idea that death can be a sweet relief from pain. I tried to capture some of Barbara’s spirit, particularly in the middle section, and chose triple meter to give the outer sections a bit of “swing.” I don’t recall Barbara as a somber person, and I wanted to paint a portrait of someone who moved through life with a smile. I didn’t know her as well as many, but I always found her kind, generous, and unpretentious. I hope that this musical portrait does her justice.I created a cello transcription for a performance with Sara Male, my partner in Duo Chiaroscuro. This seemed appropriate, since “Still Waters Running Deep,” one of our signature pieces, is a transcription of the slow movement of Barbara’s bassoon sonata, created at our request by the composer.

String Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.862525 Composed by Michael Bomier. Baroque,Contemporary,Instructional,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 11 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2032899. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862525). The Allemande was a German dance form used in many Baroque Era suites. Its characteristic rhythm was the dotted-eighth-sixteenth figure, which is used throughout this piece. The real substance of this composition is not the dance form, however, but the strict and highly evocative use of the ascending and descending forms of the melodic minor scale. Since this was such a Baroque Era staple, I felt the piece had to use Baroque forms, techniques and structures as well. So, the key is D minor. C and Bb going down, B and C# going up. No accidentals but these were used. D minor is not the happiest of keys, and accordingly the mood here is somber. The orchestral texture is NOT rich and lush, like other pieces in the series, but is thinner and more contrapuntally transparent. There are three internal cadences before the ending sequence. Suspensions, voice leading, and dissonances are all treated in a standard Baroque fashion. Bowings by string pedagogue Lori Sandell Lacey. Running time is approx 3 mins 30 secs.at suggested tempo. The piece could certainly go faster if your group can handle it. Each part is but a single page, for easy management of music in rehearsal and performance. MBB.
