Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1114942 By Simon And Garfunkel. By Paul Simon. Arranged by Mario Stallbaumer. Folk,Pop,Rock. Score. 4 pages. Mario Stallbaumer #716780. Published by Mario Stallbaumer (A0.1114942). With this sheet music, you can play The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel on piano! It's an accurate, carefully created piano arrangement of the full song in its original key (Eb minor). The vocal melody is included in the piano part, so it makes for a perfect piano solo cover! Written by Paul Simon, The Sound of Silence was recorded by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel for their 1964 debut album Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.. The album wasn't successful at first, but an overdubbed electric version of the song became popular a year later, and finally topped the charts in January 1966. The remix version of the song became the title track on the duo's follow-up album, and was featured in the 1967 award-winning film The Graduate. Today, The Sound of Silence is considered one to the greatest pop / folk rock songs ever written. The song's original acoustic version makes for a wonderful, melancholic piano ballad!

Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1117264 By Rush. By Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee Weinrib. Arranged by Dan Chernow. 20th Century,Contemporary,Pop,Rock. Guitar Tab. 26 pages. Dan Chernow #718846. Published by Dan Chernow (A0.1117264). Meticulous note-for-note guitar transcription of the classic song by Rush. This is a wholly new and original transcription, done solely by Berklee graduate and guitar instructor Dan Chernow, and has never before been available until now. The longest song on Rush's first album. Basically unknown (even amongst many Rush fans) and hugely underrated, this 7.5 minute tune is a masterclass in young Lifeson's guitar arranging skills as well as as well as being a showcase for the more lyrical side of his early, bluesy style. There's some really masterful lead phrasing here, remarkable for a 21 year old. 'Here Again' truly contains one of his first of many great guitar solos he has given us over the years. Essential early Lifeson here, and I am very proud to present the guitar parts fully transcribed here for the first time with the painstaking note-for-note accuracy it deserves. SEE and HEAR this on YouTube! (link to full video included near bottom of pdf).

Thérèse BRENET, born 22 October 1935 in Paris, France began her musical studies at a very early age, receiving her first prize in Piano from the Conservatoire de Reims. At the Paris Conservatory, her prinicipal teachers were Jean Rivier, Darius Milhaud, Maurice Duruflé, Noël Gallon and Henri Dutilleux and she obtained First Prizes in Harmony, Counterpoint, and Fugue. She finished her studies in 1965, receiving a First Prize in Orchestration, A First Prize with highest honors in Composition and the First Grand Prix de Rome in musical composition. She also won the Halphen Prize for Composition and the Fugue, a grant from the Coplay Foundation of Chigaco and was named honorable member of the National Academy of History of Reims. In 1971, she received the Stéphane Chapelier-Clergue-Gabriel Marie Prize from the SACEM and in 1973, the Silver Medal from the City of Paris. After her stay at the French Academy at the Villa Médicis in Rome, Thérèse Brenet undertook several post-graduate voyages for study, notably to Poland. Upon her return in Paris in 1970, she was immediately named to the Faculty of the Paris Conservatory (CNSMD de Paris) where she also was frequently part of the juries for music theory and composition, as well as electroacoustical music.Thérèse Brenet receiving her definitive SACEM membership from Georges Auric She retired from the Paris Conservatory in 2000 and has since devoted her time to musical composition. She uses both tonal and atonal musical language, which she uses to suit her personal style. Her works are strongly influenced by literature, by painting and by science (especially astronomy). She believes that a composer should use all technical means at his or her disposal and use them rather than be used by them. Her first commission from the French National Radio, Clamavit, for Narrator, Chorus and Orchestra which was premièred by the Orchestre Lyrique de l'O.R.T.F., under the direction of André Girard, with Michel Bouquet as the Narrator, was selected to represent France in the Composer's Forum of 'U.N.E.S.C.O., and was performed in many countries. Many other works have also been performed outside of France in countries such as Switzerland, England, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, the former Yugoslavia, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Libya, Canada, Uruguay, Japan and the United States etc...

(6 · 6 · 4 · 4 · 2 minimum) cello and orchestra - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q3688 Farewell to philosophy. Composed by Gavin Bryars. This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 35 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q3688. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q3688). I have a great fondness for the lower string instruments: I am a bass player, my mother is a cellist, as are both my daughters; my own ensemble includes two violas, a cello and a bass, and for the instrumentation of my opera Medea I omit the entire violin section from the orchestra. As I have written a number of works for solo instrument or voice with orchestra I welcomed the opportunity to write a concerto for cello and orchestra and especially one which focuses particularly on the instrument’s lyrical qualities. Although the piece is in one continuous movement, and the soloist is playing almost without a break, it nevertheless falls into distinct sections which are recognisable by a shift of tempo as well as by a change in the music’s character. One of the early ideas Julian Lloyd Webber and I discussed was that it might form a companion piece to one of the Haydn concertos. Given my friendship with some members of the English Chamber Orchestra and my awareness of their repertoire, this suggested a number of particular musical references. The subtitle to the work, for example, combines the subtitles of two idiosyncratic Haydn symphonies and I allude to them in different ways but chiefly through orchestration: for The Philosopher by including a section in the concerto where the orchestration resembles that of the symphony’s first movement (pairs of English and French horns, muted violins and unmuted lower strings); for The Farewell, by the progressive reduction in the orchestration towards the end. Indeed, apart from the orchestral tutti in the last few bars, the last pages of the score are virtually for string quartet. The subtitle also refers to my own background as a philosophy graduate... The piece was commissioned by Philips Classics for Julian Lloyd Webber and is dedicated to him. The first performance was given by Julian Lloyd Webber and the English Chamber Orchestra conducted by James Judd, 21 November 1995, Barbican Hall, London. Gavin Bryars.
