I had spent many months working out all the assignments in Fux's Gradus ad Parnassum (my favorite book), and the fruits of that study came in several contrapuntal works. I had written this fugue as a part of a set of preludes and fugues I hope to publish here in the future, but this one I think works fine on its own. .

This is what makes the words a Psalm and not faithless murmurings that God condemns.♫ The opening words of the Psalm, “A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son,� (NASB) are actually the first verse of the Psalm 3 in the Hebrew Bible, not merely an editorial comment by a current scholar. Leading by love (eros), a series of sudden thoughts and premonitions and the composer's inner visions on Service's text is a vehicle, a canvas for this composition. It follows a multilanguage style between serial-atonal and tonal idiom.
