Skye refers to the Island of Skye, a large island off the northwest coast os Scotland. There are several texts to this song; all refer, more or less, to an uprising of Scottish dissidents against the English is 1745-46. After their defeat, they fled to the Island of Skye. The text used here by the poet Robert Louis Stevenson. Scholars attribute the first half of the melody to an old se chantey and suspect thea the second half may have benn written by Annie MacLeod. ARRANGEMENT DETAILSVoicing SSATB Choir and Piano AccompanimentDifficulty IntermediateGENRE DETAILS Genres A Cappella, Classical, Film/TV, Holiday, Wedding.

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976561 Composed by George Gershwin. Arranged by Ros Harling Page. 20th Century,A Cappella,Contemporary,Jazz. Octavo. 35 pages. Ros Harling Page #6022059. Published by Ros Harling Page (A0.976561). A stunning showpiece for a really good SSATB choir, plus soprano soloist. Extremely enjoyable but also challenging to sing, A Capella Rhapsody contains some truly symphonic vocal textures, some gentle humour, and original lyrics which take the form of a conversation between soprano soloist and choir, and at times provide a musical analysis of the music. There is also some scat singing and some optional cameo solos when performing with a smaller choir. For massed choir performances, the soprano solo may require amplification. While an a capella version of a piece for piano and orchestra sounds like a preposterous proposal, live performance of this piece defies categorisation but packs an entirely positive punch. This piece is a delight to perform and a dramatic and exciting audience experience for any part of your choir's concert programme - but once you've heard it, you'll probably want to save it for the end of the concert! Listeners are left with the impression that they have heard the whole of the original work, somehow condensed into approx 8 minutes of choral magic!
