Instrumental Duet Harp,Instrumental Duet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.803893 Composed by Johann Strauss Jr. Arranged by Serena O’Meara. Classical,Multicultural,Opera,Romantic Period,Standards,World. Score and parts. 54 pages. O'Meara Music #5361563. Published by O'Meara Music (A0.803893). Johann Strauss, Jr. used themes from his operetta, Indigo and the Forty Thieves,to create this wonderful orchestra piece. The mysterious Arabian introduction is followed by three Waltzes. Waltz II is the most famous melody. The pedal and lever harp duet versions are not the same. They differ in the pedal/lever markings, harmony notes and which harp is playing the melody note. The dynamics and Waltz sections are clearly marked. The score includes a page of performance information. The Harp Ensemble would perform for 2 hours each evening as guests arrived at the UW-Eau Claire’s annual Viennese Ball in the student center (1998-2016). The invitation was extended because Eduard Strauss, the youngest Strauss, was a harpist. He conducted his own orchestra from his harp and toured the United States.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1035228 Composed by Anton Emil Titl (1809 - 1882 ). Arranged by James Strauss. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 30 pages. James Strauss #5873421. Published by James Strauss (A0.1035228). Antonín Emil Titl   Was born October 2, 1809 in Pernstein, and died in January 21, 1882 in Vienna was an Austrian composer. Titl had been the military bandmaster in Prague since 1835. In 1840 he was hired as the successor of Heinrich Proch to the theater in Josefstadt, where he stayed until 1846. From 1850 until his retirement in 1870 he worked at the Burgtheater as Kapellmeister. As a composer, Titl created numerous songs and stage music for both of the above theaters. His greatest success was the Singspiel Der Zauberschleier by Franz Xaver Told, which contained the song A Wirtsg'schäft, which was extremely popular at the time, is really not bad.In 1898 the Titlgasse in Vienna-Hietzing was named after him. Titl's Serenade was composed for flute and horn with orchestra or piano accompaniment. With a lilting Bel Canto style in 12/8, its lyric melody features passages of filigree work that will excite and challenge the musician's technical as well as expressive capabilities. The piece is ideal for contest or recital for the intermediate player. This edition for flute, horn and orchestra is based in 2 sources , a set or parts published in 1896 by the French publisher E. GALLET plate n. G.5688 and a manuscript of the parts from Austrian National Library and has been carefully arranged and edited by James Strauss. All the discrepancies between the sources were corrected and for the very first time in a Full Score format.

Brass Ensemble Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Digital Download SKU: A0.802701 Composed by Josef Weinberger. Arranged by arr. R Woschnjak & Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 13 pages. Peet du Toit #6859613. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802701). Josef Weinberger has been synonymous with popular musical theater for over 125 years. Weinberger was born the son of a goldsmith in Lipto St. Miklo in Hungary but his family moved to Vienna in 1865. In 1885 Josef Weinberger and Carl Hofbauer started an art and music store in Vienna, but the partnership ended when both partners set up on their own, Weinberger in 1890 and Hofbauer in 1892. Weinberger saw the potential, in publishing and licensing, of the craze for operetta, and made a connection with Johann Strauss II. Within a few years all the great operetta composers were his clients: Strauss, Millöcker, Zeller, Kálmán, Oscar Straus, Stolz, and Fall. He even provided licensing services for the last great Viennese operetta composer, Franz Lehár, who from the 1920s published through his own company, Glocken-Verlag.The firm expanded quickly, opening branches in Paris (1885) and Leipzig (1889) where they worked with Friedrich Hofmeister. One of the most remarkable aspects of the developing Weinberger catalogue was the commitment to Czech music, and from April 1893 to August 1894 the Hofmeister entries were almost all by Smetana (various publications of Dalibor and HubiÄka as well as overtures) and Vilém Blodek (V studni); later additions included Tajemstvi (1895) and  LibuÅ¡e (1897). Otherwise most of the repertoire was of popular music for various combinations, not least military bands, with von Suppé figuring prominently from 1895 onwards. The mid 1890s also saw significant enlargements of the Weinberger catalogue through the acquisition of other publisher's lists: in 1894 the ancient firm of Artaria, then in 1895 items from the Kratochwill catalogue and over 1,500 works from the Kratz catalogue of theatrical works. This latter acquisition included a number of works with international performing rights, which encouraged Weinberger to open a Parisian branch in 1896, but it also reflected a shift in Weinberger's publishing interests towards theatrical music generally. Another major step in that direction was taken in 1897, when the entire theatrical catalogue of Gustav Lewy â€“ which included the stage works of Johann Strauss the younger and Millöcker – were taken over (with the Strauss performing rights following in 1899).Weinberger was active in three other fields apart from popular music. Firstly, he was Gustav Mahler's third publisher, issuing the Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen in 1897, and distributing Symphonies nos 1-3, Das klagende Lied and Lieder aus des Knaben Wunderhorn (1900) on behalf of the owner of the publishing rights, the Erste Wiener Zeitungsgesellschaft. Secondly, he took an active part in setting up a trade association, AKM (Gesellschaft der Autoren, Komponisten und Musikverleger or society of authors, composers and publishers) to collect the performance fees due for non-theatrical musical works, in 1897. Finally, Weinberger was the driving force behind the founding of Universal Edition in Vienna in 1901, and not only served as its managing director until 1906 (when he was replaced by Arthur Fadüm), but also provided the new company with space in his own firm's premises until 1908.This orchestration is for a brass quintet. The French Horn acts as a substitute or support for Trumpet 2.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.527656 Composed by Johann Strauss Jr. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Holiday,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. 20 pages. Diego Marani #3066917. Published by Diego Marani (A0.527656). Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka, Op. 214, is a polka written by Johann Strauss II in 1858 after a successful tour of Russia where he performed in the summer concert season at Pavlovsk, Saint Petersburg. The title may be interpreted as Chit-chat and may refer to the Viennese passion for gossip. Strauss may also have been referencing the single act burlesque Der Tritsch-tratsch (with music by Adolf Müller, Sr.) by the famous Austrian dramatist and actor Johann Nestroy, which premiered in 1833 and was still in the stage repertoire when the polka was written. Many point out that the title may also have meant his first wife's (Henrietta Treffz) poodle, also named Tritsch-tratsch, but this etymology remains unsubstantiated as well. The mood of the piece is jaunty and high-spirited, as were many of Strauss' polkas. This arrangement for clarinet quartet includes the following parts: Bb Clarinet 1 or Eb Clarinet, Bb Clarinet 2, Bb Clarinet 3 or Eb Alto Clarinet, Bb Bass Clarinet.

Score and parts. 57 pages. JP Wogaman II #6858521. Published by JP Wogaman II (A0.945201). Johann Strauss II (1825-99) is famously known as the the King of the Waltz. He was born in Vienna to the Father of the Waltz, Johann Strauss the elder. Strauss died in Vienna while he was working on a version of Cinderella for ballet. Performance practice of the Viennese Waltz is almost impossible to teach if it's not in the blood because there are some things that you just simply can't notate. Luftpause: air-breakSchleppen: to drag The feel of the lilt is basically anticipating the second beat.
