Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1505939). Die Fledermaus (The Bat) was Johann Strauss' most successful operetta and is still today frequently performed especially on German speaking  stages. Its overture in sonata form became also a popular and challenging concert piece. The operetta premiered, conducted by the composer, on  5 April 1874 in Vienna at Theater an der Wien.
