Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.547674 Composed by James M. Guthrie. Contemporary,Instructional. Individual part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3031709. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.547674). Dardanus Variations for Solo Cello is a set of variations on a thematic fragment from Dardanus, a tragédie-lyrique by J.P. Rameau (1683-1764). Each variation depicts a different scene from the opera.I: Entrance of Dardanus: Son of Electra and JupiterII: King Teucer proposes the marriage of his daughter Iphise to King AnténorIII: King Anténor accepts Iphise to become his brideIV: Ismenor the Wizard introduces Iphise to DardanusV: Dardanus encounters the sea monsterVI: The Sea Monster creates havoc for King AnténorVII: Dardanus falls in love with IphiseVIII: Dardanus slays the Sea Monster, saving King Anténor's lifeIX: King Teucer and Dardanus make peaceX: King Teucer permits for Dardanus to marry IphiseXI: The Proposal of DardanusXII: Iphise rejects the proposalXIII: The Second Proposal of DardanusIXV: Wedding Dance Dardanus is connected to the Trojan War through his lineage and the founding of the royal house of Troy. The Dardanoi, the descendants of Dardanus, formed a contingent among Troy's allies in the Trojan War. The House of Dardanus, of which Dardanus was the founder, played a significant role in the lead-up to the war. The city of Troy, founded by Dardanus's descendant, Ilus, was central to the myths surrounding the Trojan War. Additionally, Aeneas, a prominent figure in the Trojan War, was referred to as a Dardanian and was destined to save the House of Dardanus from extinction. Therefore, Dardanus's lineage and the founding of Troy are the critical connections between Dardanus and the Trojan War.Ancestry and Founder: Dardanus was the son of Zeus and the Pleiad Electra. He was the mythical founder of Dardania on the Hellespont and the ancestor of the Dardanians of the Troad and, through Aeneas, of the Romans.Migration and Settlement: According to mythology, Dardanus fled from Arcadia to the island of Samothrace and then to the Troad, where Teucer, the ruler of Phrygia, hospitably received him. He married Teucer's daughter Bateia and became the founder of the royal house of Troy.Family and Descendants: Dardanus married Chryse, with whom he fathered two sons, Idaeus and Deimas. He later married Batea and had several children, including Erichthonius, who became the ancestor of many famous individuals in the Troad, including Tros, Ganymede, Laomedon, and Priam.Cultural Depictions: Dardanus has been the subject of various operas by composers such as Jean-Philippe Rameau, Carl Stamitz, and Antonio Sacchini, reflecting the enduring influence of his mythological story.Legacy: Dardanus lives on in the Dardanelles, the narrow strait separating Asia and Europe, once known as the Hellespont, a name also linked to Greek mythology. These facts highlight Dardanus's role as a critical figure in the foundation of Dardania and the royal house of Troy and his rich and enduring mythological legacy.

Men's choir - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7313 Motets for four-part men's choir. Composed by Peter Cornelius. This edition: choral score. Schott Choral Music. Downloadable, Choral score. Schott Music - Digital #Q7313. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7313). Latin. When Peter Cornelius (1824–1874), the musically and literarily talented and versatile artist, went to Weimar in 1852 to pursue further studies with Franz Liszt, the latter advised him to 'throw himself into writing sacred music with a will'. He heeded his advice and thereupon wrote a series of liturgical and religious pieces for men's choir as well as the song cycle 'Vater unser'. 'Domine salvum fac regem' too was composed by Cornelius in this context – in two versions: for a cappella men's choir and for solo tenor, mixed choir and orchestra. The version for men's choir was written in May 1852, setting to music in a 'speaking' and expressive manner the texts compiled from psalm and doxology, with colourful motet-like and block-like sections and a 'Gloria Deo', set as if chiselled, which introduces the final section – an impressive work.

Instrumental Duet,Piano Instrumental Duet,Piano,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811126 Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Arranged by Jean-Louis Couturier. Christian,Classical,Praise & Worship,Romantic Period,Sacred. Score and parts. 8 pages. Gordon Cherry #5296597. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811126). O Salutaris (O, Saving Victim) composed in 1884 is the eighth movement of a series of Twenty Motets written for various vocal combinations from solo to eight-part choir, all with organ accompaniment. These were most likely written while the composer performed as a church organist. Jean-Louis Couturier has transcribed the original (tenor and baritone voice) for Trombone Duo and organ and would be excellent for an Easter service or a serious occasion. This work is appropriate for intermediate level performers.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533762 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 55 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3043953. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533762). Flute Concerto (2006) was commissioned by flutist Judith von Hopf and theKiev Philharmonic and premiered by them under the direction of GuidoLamell. The work is in two movements: Chanson and Fantasy Variations. The first movement, Chanson, is an extended “song†that develops through avariety of textures. The opening song material is centered around G#. In turn, this G# is revealed to be a quasi-dominant of a D centered sonority. (A briefcoda returns to G#, in preparation for the D center of the second movement.)The second movement, Fantasy Variations, is cast as two presentations ofthe theme surrounding five free variations, plus a coda. The theme serves asthe basis of the musical material for each variation as well as the structuraltemplate for each. Also, each variation contains material referring backspecifically to the previous variation. The opening theme is declamatory and massive. The first variation is fastand limber. The second variation is introspective and stratified. The thirdvariation is fleeting. The fourth variation is distant and spare. The fifthvariation is fast and driving. The final theme begins whispered and slowlyregains its declamatory nature before a brief and intense coda ends the workin a blaze. This item is the score and the solo part only. The orchestral parts are on rental from the publisher. The piano reduction is for sale as a seperate item.Instrumentation2 Flutes (2nd dbl.
