One of that set was called Entry, which I have arranged for Instrumental Trio. In keeping with the characteristics of the Romantic period my arrangement is full of contrasts and constant shifts between dynamics, articulations, tempos, and themes. Each part is of equal importance and each part independently adds to the stunning polyphonic weaving. Requires careful counting and close attention to rhythms, but sounds quite advanced and dramatic when all details are observed. This piece is both playful and majestic at the same time.   A fun piece to show your technique and musicianship as a group in any concert.  2 1/2 minutes, 5 pages score, 2 pages @ part

For this unaccompanied duet arrangement the melody was creatively deconstructed into two parts that continuously interact as if each instrument is finishing the other's thoughts. The harmonies are inspired by the original double stops. The arrangement remains stylistically faithful to Reger's use of constantly shifting dynamics and ever-present expression marks. This 4 1/2 minute work is a worthy challenge for a serious concert or recital. A new approach to this Masterwork of the repertoire. A live performance will be considerably freer and more expressive than the temporary MIDI recording attached. Range - same note range for both parts which is a wide 2 1/2 octaves. 5 page score, 3 pages each part.

This particular composition utilizes the centering 'ah' of Buddhism, the meditative resting periods of Zen, the plainchant of Christianity, the minimalism of New Age, and more. The lyrics quote only the first 3 phrases of the traditional Ave Maria text. These 6 words are in common across most usages regardless of region or religion or purpose and impart a broader blessing. These 6 words are interspersed throughout the piece with the Ave (Hail) high in the range for celebration, Gratia (Grace) mid-range for acceptance, and Dominus (God) low in the range for humility. The vocal range of the song is thus quite large - a full two octaves. The High version goes from a B flat below the Treble Staff to an A flat above the Treble Staff. The Low version (a third lower) goes from a low G to a high F. The accompaniment is a circling minimalist 2 chord ostinato for the entire piece.
