Written as an ode to the singer's late mother, who suffered from depression, the song is a haunting tribute that remains in the minds and hearts of everyone who listens to it. Sarah imagined Elise having a sister, and felt quite sorry for her not having her own famous piece. Also, Sarah has known many pianists who have only been able to learn the beginning of Beethoven's wonderful piece, and hopefully by working on this one first, students will be one step closer to learning the rest of it!!
