The Ragtime Dance (1906)Scott Joplin (1867/8 – 1917)Any Saxophone Solo with pianoThe Ragtime Dance saxophone solo with piano, by Scott Joplin. Joplin wrote two works with the title The Ragtime Dance. The first, written in 1899 and published in 1902, is something like a ballet with songs and a speaking part for narrator. It was a failure on stage and is now forgotten. The second and much better known work is a piano rag based on some of the tunes in the stage show. This little piano rag is one of the genre’s most loved pieces and has been transcribed for many different ensembles. It has been used in many films, most notably in the 1973 movie The Sting. This arrangement is is for any saxophone solo with piano accompaniment and is in the original key. Parts for E flat (alto, baritone) and B flat (soprano, tenor) saxophones are included. What everyone always remembers about The Ragtime Dance is the moment when Joplin asks the performers to vigorously stomp the floor in rhythm! This is the stop-time feature mentioned in the subtitle.

Instrumental Duet,Piano Flute,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1411185 By Jean-Pierre Rampal. By Scott Joplin. Arranged by Glenn Martin. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Holiday,Ragtime. 8 pages. Cornelius edition #993444. Published by Cornelius edition (A0.1411185). Scott Joplin 1868 – 1917 was an American composer and pianist and dubbed the King of Ragtime He composed more than 40 ragtime pieces, a ragtime ballet and two operas. One of his first and most popular pieces, the Maple Leaf Rag, became the genre's first and most influential hit. Joplin considered ragtime to be a form of classical music to be played in concert venues and largely distanced himself from the performance style of honky-tonk music mostly played in saloons.Weeping Willow is a 1903 classic piano ragtime composition by Joplin and it was one of Joplin's simpler and less well known ragtime scores. It was written during a transitional period in his life, and one of the few pieces that Joplin recorded as a piano roll in a 1916 recording session. This Edition for Flute and Piano would make a useful repertoire addition or ideal for encores, competions and classroom study.Duration: 3.22.
