Screaming Forest for Clarinet, Violin and Piano was inspired by a striking painting I saw at the MOCA Museum of Contemporary Art in Bangkok. The painting depicts a strikingly red canvas with shocking figures  of trees scattered through it. Created by the Thai artist Tawee Ratchaneekorn, he had this to say about his painting: “If a forest is gone, people have gone.� is the concept of this work’s creation. Natural resources and the environment— which have nurtured people throughout periods of time from prehistory to many civilizations— are being harmed. The forest then screams, with faces on the trees. It means whenever the forest screams because of being harmed, doers are people who live relying on the forest.�

Screaming is for piano solo or ensemble. This is an original tune with a great funky vibe.
This is a sketch chart and their is more improvisation in the recording. 5 page chart is challenging but not overly so, and well worth the effort to learn. Fun tune to learn and improvise over. I composed it for fun. Cool Stuff.

I Put a Spell on You was originally a refined love song written by Jalacy Screamin' Jay Hawkins . In 1956, he recorded the notorious version upon which this arrangement is based. Notorious because he didn't even remember recording it and the single was banned from many radio stations.
 
I Put a Spell on You didn't even make the charts but still sold more than a million copies and is considered one of the greatest Rock and Roll tracks of all time.
It all sort of just fell in place. I found out I could do more destroying a song and screaming it to death.

This arrangement for string quartet is a relatively straight-forward idiomatic transcription in the same tonality as the original recording, so you could even play along with it for fun.
 
In this case, since standard notation has certain limitations, it is recommended that the 1st violin and viola players listen to the original track to find out how their notes were performed and work out their own interpretations.
Strillato means ranting-ly, screamingly, but a mere word is not enough.

The level is on the easier side of advanced; quickly rehearsed by professional quartets and an accessible challenge for experienced students.

Moonlighting is the title track from the Rippingtons debut recording Moonlighting. This is a mid 80's smooth jazz-pop chart with a bit of an edge, especially in the harmonies. Solo changes are in the alto sax 1, tenor sax 1, trumpet 2 and trombone 1. Since Russ Freeman (the composer of this work) is a master guitarist, a screamin' guitar solo would be totally appropriate! The keyboard can be played on a standard piano, or to make it more 80's, a DX7 style tine piano would work as well. This chart can add a touch of elegance with some 80's attitude to your next jazz band concert.

Ok - this one is just plain fun. Originally released on Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic and later remade adding Run DMC, Walk This Way is a bonafide rock and roll classic. This arrangement is to be played with all the Aerosmith swagger possible with a big band. Solo section is open with changes in AS1, TS1, Tpt2 & Tbn1. Obviously, a screamin' guitar solo would be totally appropriate. The key signature is neutral, with accidentals placed as needed. This chart will give any jazz band concert some serious attitude!

I Put a Spell on You is a 1956 song written and recorded by Screamin' Jay Hawkins. The selection became a classic cult song, covered by a variety of artists, particulary Nina Simone. It was Hawkins' greatest commercial success, reportedly surpassing a million copies in sales, even though it failed to make the Billboard pop or R&B charts. This arrangement is in the style of Slow Jazz and would add a great feature piece to any Brass Band reportoire.
