Here is a song that still thrills me to listen to. If you like screaming trumpets, this song is for you. In the original key from the LP Chase, this song is a fast, driving piece. I have a fond memory of this song and am sorry you can't experience this version anymore. I was working in a department store electronics dept the year Quadrophonic music came out. Quad was the precursor to Surround Sound. To stand in the middle of 4 speakers facing you and here the opening riffs of this song bounce from one speaker to the next is an experience that is hard to describe. There is a youTube video that has the Quad version posted. But it just isn't the same.

This is a fantastically fun arrangement of We dont talk about Bruno from the film Encanto. I have arranged it for 4 classical guitars and a bass but it would work equally with a mix of acoustic and classical. Due to the timing involved and quite high positions it does not suit beginners but would be great fun  for an intermediate level ensemble. This song seems to appeal to both young and old alike. I have been nearly deafened by classes of 8 year olds screaming the words at me and had some brilliant sessions with adults playing too.

Lush, relaxed swing opens this Christmas classic. Trumpets in mutes and trombones playing the lead in unison recreate the overwhelming peace of the most famous of all nights. Counterpoint phrases by the saxes begin to build towards a dramatic climax that bursts forth into a screaming, brass-driven double-time swing. After room for a solo or two, the chart returns to its relaxed feel and ends as it began: quietly and at peace.

After creating a perfectly servicable big band arrangement of No Time To Die, I did what any good arranger of a big band would do and asked myself, How would Maynard Ferguson play this? The answer is, of course, louder, faster, and higher, or otherwise stated, obnoxiously. Such was born this unique version of this piece, with screaming trumpet parts, but a trombone soloing the first verse and then taking an extended improvisional solo throughout the middle (because as the lead trombone player of the band, I opted to give it to myself). I, personally, like this version better than the one that mimics the original, and give a little Bond pep to the midst to your setlist. Enjoy No Time To Die, as performed (obnoxiously) by the T-Town Jazz Band.
