Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.750927 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Brendan Elliget MAGA 537. Christmas. Score and parts. 41 pages. BJE Music #5009435. Published by BJE Music (A0.750927). I Saw Three Ships (Come Sailing In) is a traditional and popular Christmas carol from England. The earliest printed version of I Saw Three Ships is from the 17th century, possibly Derbyshire, and was also published by William Sandys in 1833. The lyrics mention the ships sailing into Bethlehem, but the nearest body of water is the Dead Sea about 20 miles (32 km) away. The reference to three ships is thought to originate in the three ships that bore the purported relics of the Biblical magi to Cologne Cathedral in the 12th century. Another possible reference is to Wenceslaus II, King of Bohemia, who bore a coat of arms Azure three galleys argent. Another suggestion is that the ships are actually the camels used by the Magi, as camels are frequently referred to as ships of the desert. [Wikipedia]  The bright arrangement is for full Concert Band.  The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer 3. Part of this arrangement was used in my Christmas Suite No. 1. (See associated scores) Grade = 4 Duration 1:50 mins

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1200247 By Kathleen Ryan. By Kathleen Ryan. Classical,New Age,Romantic Period. Score. 9 pages. Indigo Mesa Music LLC #799047. Published by Indigo Mesa Music LLC (A0.1200247). “On the western prairie, nestled against a hill, there is an unexpected forest: shade and water abound. Travelers on the Oregon Trail rested here before returning to the treacherous journey. One summer that forest was all I dreamed of.†~ Kathleen RyanAdvanced technique: a very challenging solo with a rewarding breadth of expression. What the Stars Saw on the Prairie has been called a “three-handed†piece: in its most difficult section the LH plays the bass, the RH plays an upper descant, and the melody is split between both hands in the middle register of the piano. The first recording engineer who heard this piece (but who could not see into the studio) believed that Kathleen had recruited an extra person to play with her. The music truly fits two hands, as long as both hands are willing to move around quite a lot!

Choral Choir,Choral (SAT) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1291004 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. Advent,Christian,Christmas. 13 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #881693. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1291004). This is a tuneful and attractive setting of words by Danny Alorean, looking at the town of Bethlehem through the eyes of travelers who are going to see the child Jesus. The main melody is set is 8/8 time which naturally divides into groups of 3+2+3. The middle section is at first contrapuntal then more lyrical and in 4/4. It is more suitable for experienced singers. The work is scored for SAT choir with keyboard accompaniment which makes it ideal for high school and college choirs with no bass section. There are no divisi sections, but several opportunities for optional solos and the piano part is of medium difficulty but could be managed by any competent pianist. This piece would be ideal for a Christmas concert or part of a Christmas service. The vocal ranges are as follows: Soprano C4-G5; Alto A3-D4; Tenor C3-F4. (Duration: 04:09)If you liked this piece, you might also be interested in other titles in this series of Nativity Anthems by Colin Kirkpatrick, available from the same publisher: And a Star is Shining in the East, I Saw Three Ships, Three Kings from Eastern Lands and Rejoice and Sing on Christmas Morn!
