For God and Country was written in honor of Lt. Aloysius Schmitt for the Loras College Wind Ensembles, Glenn Pohland, director. The Catholic chaplain and Columbia College (now Loras College) graduate gave his life helping twelve of his shipmates exit a porthole on the side of the U.S.S. Oklahoma as it took enemy torpedo fire, rolled over and finally faltered on the morning of December 7, 1941.Throughout the work, the Navy Hymn Eternal Father, Strong to Save is a reoccurring motive.  Several U.S. Navy bugle calls are also used in the work including portions of Abandon Ship, Man Overboard, Man Torpedo Defense Battery and Watertight Doors.  The work ends with a quiet and solemn rendition of the Navy Hymn in various solo instruments.                                                                                                                      Duration:  9:00

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1247407 Composed by Nahum Situmorang. Arranged by Otniel Simangunsong. A Cappella,Contest,Festival,Folk,Romantic Period,Traditional. 17 pages. Otniel Simangunsong #842044. Published by Otniel Simangunsong (A0.1247407). Da Natinitip Sanggar is a folksong originated from North Sumatra, Indonesia. This song was composed by Nahum Situmorang (1908 - 1969). He is a composer and musician. In his entire life, Nahum never worked as an employee of the Dutch colonial government. During his youth, he had won many song competitions, including Sumatra Keroncong Concours in Medan (1936). Nahum's skill in creating his own songs as well as singing them made many people admire him. Nahum is able to play a variety of musical instruments and has his own band. Nahum also often creates songs when in the middle of a crowd. Nahum was most prolific in composing songs from 1950 to 1960. Historically, Nahum has never married in his entire life. However, from several sources, Nahum stated that he once loved a woman but he did not reveal it. This song tells about the romantic story of a man who seduces the woman he loves. He fell in love at the first sight and tried to find out about the woman's family. This song is a collection of rhymes called Umpasa in Batak language. The lyrics of this song are closely related to the culture of the Batak tribe, especially about the family tree known as Tarombo. Men and women are not allowed to marry if both are of them are from the same descendant ( one surname / one family tree). Based on this culture, the song Da Natinitip Sanggar shows a man's curiosity about a woman's surname and her biological mother's surname to find out whether they came from the same family tree because if a woman's family name is the same as the man's biological mother's name, it is considered a mate. Otniel Simangunsong is a conductor and composer from Indonesia. He was born in Tanjungbalai, North Sumatra on August 19, 1996. Currently he is a conductor of Benedicamus Chante Choir - Darma Cendika Catholic University Student Choir, Surabaya. He has also got some supports from another professional conductors and composers. This Da Natinitip Sanggar song is packaged as a A Capella choral score which is Soprano, Mezosoprano, Alto, Tenor, Bariton, and Bass. This arrangement features the style of Batak musical instruments such as Taganing, Ogung, and Sarune.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Viola,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.949312 Composed by Jean Ahn. Contemporary,Renaissance. Score and parts. 16 pages. Jean Ahn #6079039. Published by Jean Ahn (A0.949312). Renaissance composer Orlando Lasso was an international figure compared to other composers around his time. That is the reason he had two names, Lasso (Italian) and Lassus (German). I played with this fact and explored the possibilities of  solfege ‘La-sol’. Lasso's bicinia is paraphrased several times in the piece. There is a timbral cannon toward the end where second cello strictly follows the first cello's gesture.  It is then dissolved to an improvisatory coda to once again reveal the very theme La-Sol.

Alto Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799612 Composed by Richard Strauss. Arranged by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. 20th Century,Romantic Period. 6 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #5022023. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.799612). The first of its kind, and the third entry in Nicole Elyse DiPaolo's Accessible Accompaniments series of aria reductions, this is a genuinely playable and piano/vocal reduction of Wie Du warst, Octavian's famous aria from Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier (1911). Mezzos who love this aria no longer need to fear bringing it in for auditions, last-minute performing engagements, or other situations in which the pianist may have to sight-read from the chaotic and unplayable vocal score. Pianists may now enjoy playing this aria comfortably, without risking strain/injury. This edition also includes a two-measure recomposed ending four measures after rehearsal 25, making this edition a great choice for concert and audition situations in which another singer isn't available to sing the Marschallin's lines. All Accessible Accompaniments, including this one, boast several unique features:1. No reduction ever requires stretches of over an octave, not including bass notes meant to be held or fudged with the pedal (though octaves may also contain chord tones within them). This reduces the amount of rearranging that smaller-handed pianists must already do. Obviously, further reworkings are to be expected and pianists should feel free to add to or modify what I’ve provided.2. I’ve included less essential, but potentially desirable additional voices/passages in cue-size noteheads so that pianists can easily see them, but know that they are not necessary in a sink or swim accompanying situation. Presenting less essential material in cue-size noteheads also reduces visual clutter on the page.3. In addition to the composer’s markings, when needed, I have included hints on particular notes to bring out when the singer is likely to need them as a pitch anchor or when it is not obvious which line should be brought out within the texture.4. All page turns have been carefully selected so as to result in the least possible disruption to the pianist when possible. When an inevitable page turn precedes a potentially surprising note or chord, I’ve included the next downbeat’s notes in cue-size stemless noteheads at the end of the preceding measure.5. When known, I’ve noted alternate cuts that singers might like to take within certain arias.6. In some cases I’ve modernized spelling conventions for easier readability (for example, by replacing ß with ss in German arias) and occasionally I've enharmonically respelled brief passages for greater clarity.About the Arranger: Praised as a sensitive pianist and outstanding accompanist who delivers powerful interpretations, Nicole Elyse DiPaolo enjoys a multifaceted career as a sought-after collaborative pianist, educational composer, arranger, coach, private teacher, and adjunct music professor. Currently based in the Cleveland area, Ms. DiPaolo has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Ambassador Chamber Players on multiple occasions and as a recitalist, collaborator, and presenter worldwide. Instrumental Duet Bassoon,Instrumental Duet,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588879 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Folk,Hanukkah,Jewish,World. Score and parts. 6 pages. David McKeown #6017089. Published by David McKeown (A0.588879). 7.40pm is a traditional Russian Jewish tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Oboe and one Bassoon. It isn’t completely clear where the title 7.40pm comes from. One interpretation is that 7.40pm was the time the Odessa tram conductors finished work and danced to this tune. But there are versions titled 7.40am which may refer to the time of Jewish early morning prayers. Whatever the origin, there are several Russian recordings of 7.40pm that predate the 1917 revolution.7.40pm is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. After a slow and expressively beginning, the melody switches to dance tempo.  7.40pm is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of a little over three minutes, this version of 7.40pm is perfect for recital and concert performances, both formal and informal. Click the link above to listen to a full Youtube performance of the Clarinet version of this duet. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203
