Each instrument is kept busy, with the responsibility for Hook's favourite Alberti bass falling firmly on the fingers and patience of the tenor and bass recorders. There are a few virtuoso passages for the soprano in imitation of bird song, and in the last song particularly I have totally changed the original harmonies. The six songs are: 1. The Lass of Richmond Hill ; 2.  The Blackbird;  3. Hush Ev'ry Breeze; 4. The Thrush; 5.  Within a Mile of Edinboro' Town; 6. May Morning.
