He suffered pain for my pains, tears for my weeping, 
So I can feel his love ever deep'ning. 
Then stricken with grief and crimson sore bleeding, 
I know He'll succor more for my needing.

He felt forsaken and lone, even with scourging, 
So I can gain forgiveness and purging. 
Then crowned with thick thorns and soldiers converging, 
My gratitude keeps humbly emerging.

He tripped and fell with his cross ever reeling, 
So I can sense his abundant healing. 
Then fin'lly I bow in covenant kneeling. 
He died to grant me eternal sealing.

My suff'ring Savior died for my soul; Now I rejoice for I can be whole. 
My suff'ring Savior lives now to see All that his life and love mean to me.
