Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: AX.00-PC-0000805_WPTBEBC (wp) E-flat Tuba B.C.. Composed by Mark Williams. Instructional. World Part. 1 pages. Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music #00-PC-0000805_wpTBEBC. Published by Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music (AX.00-PC-0000805_WPTBEBC). UPC: 038081278117.More Cowbell was inspired by the famous television skit featuring a rock band, a record producer, and an over-zealous cowbell player. If the cowbell player is good at hamming it up (and rocking out!), you could try the following staging suggestions: Cowbell player plays with intensity and lots of movement, and starts moving in measure 17 toward the front of the band, ending up next to the conductor in measure 24, bowing to the audience on beat 4. Conductor gives a stern look and gestures to student to get back in the percussion section (possibilities: slit throat gesture with side of first finger followed by pointing forcefully to the back, or similar gestures). Student slinks back, starts playing cowbell again, but quietly this time. Playing gradually picks up intensity, and player starts again toward the front in measure 41, reaching the front by measure 48. In measure 48, either A) Conductor waves hands violently for student to stop, or B) have a couple of students place a large blanket over the cowbell player. This works, but only for one measure (player quits and doesn't move in bar 49). Cowbell player resumes playing with a vengeance in measure 50 (either in spite of the teacher or under the blanket!). Make sure your new rock star takes another bow at the end of the piece. Have fun, and may your life always have More Cowbell! Correlated with Accent on Achievement, Book 1, page 27. Woodwind Ensemble Alto Flute,Bass Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1113567 By Man Of La Mancha. By Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh. Arranged by Phyllis Avidan Louke. Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Standards. 12 pages. Louke Publishing #715479. Published by Louke Publishing (A0.1113567). Low Flute Ensemble The Impossible Dream from Man of La Mancha Program Notes The Impossible Dream (The Quest) is the most popular song from the 1965 Broadway musical Man of La Mancha and is also featured in the 1972 film of the same name. The song was composed by Mitch Leigh, with lyrics written by Joe Darion. It was awarded the Contemporary Classics Award from the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. I have always found the lyrics of The Impossible Dream extremely moving: To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow And to run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong And to love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star This is my quest To follow that star No matter how hopeless No matter how far To fight for the right Without question or pause To be willing to march, march into Hell For that Heavenly cause And I know if I'll only be true To this glorious quest That my heart will lie peaceful and calm When I'm laid to my rest And the world will be better for this That one man, scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last ounce of courage To reach the unreachable star This arrangement for Low Flute Ensemble can be performed with as few as 5 players or a full flute choir with multiple players on a part. It is scored for 3 alto flutes, 2 bass flutes, and optional contrabass flute. Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1504237 Composed by Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Pop. 29 pages. John Ivor Holland #1079695. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1504237). Man of La Mancha is a 1965 musical with a book by Dale Wasserman, music by Mitch Leigh, and lyrics by Joe Darion. It is adapted from Wasserman's non-musical 1959 teleplay I, Don Quixote, which was in turn inspired by Miguel de Cervantes and his 17th-century novel 'Don Quixote'. It tells the story of the 'mad' knight Don Quixote as a play within a play, performed by Cervantes and his fellow prisoners as he awaits a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition. The work is not and does not pretend to be a faithful rendition of either Cervantes' life or Don Quixote (Wasserman complained repeatedly about people taking the work as a musical version of Don Quixote). The original Broadway production ran for 2,328 performances and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical; it has been revived four times on Broadway and there have been mulitple productions in different laguages around the world, becoming one of the most enduring works of musical theatre; it was adapted into a movie in 1972, starring Peter O'Toole. The Impossible Dream is one of the enduring musical themes throughout the show and has also been performed by many diverse artists over the decades, including Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones and Aretha Franklin.
