Unreasonably large chords and arpeggio figures that would require being reachable by a larger hand have been condensed into figures more appropriate for the just-an-octave hand without sacrificing technique and excitement. Since graduating from the Eastman School of Music she has performed with the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in Halifax and for many seasons was Oboist and English Horn soloist with the Regina Symphony. She now resides in Toronto where she devotes much of her time to composition. Quintet for Trombones was written for the well-know Trombone ensemble, I Tromboni when they were one of the featured ensembles in the 2007 Colours of Music Festival in Barrie, Ontario when Ms. Raum was the Composer in Residence. The work is about 4 minutes in length and has a Toccata- like style, in that the ensemble is passing around the main melody throughout the entire work, keeping the flow and energy constant. PREFACE & Editorial NotesThe Dodici Monferrine op.12  by Mauro Giuliani are in general of a lower moderate difficulty and are written as twelve small entertaining pieces in 6/8 rhythm all following the same uniform structure consisting of four phrases: A1, A2 – [B1, A2]*2 which is used extensively  by Giuliani as the basic structure for many of his more elaborate variation sets. Due consideration is also given to a carefully thought out tonal scheme for all twelve pieces as follows: E, A, D, G, C, F, Dm, D, A, D, G, C.For these given structural reasons op. 12 may be considered as a very good introduction to Giuliani’s later output of more complex and difficult works. Notes1 Dynamics have all been copied from the first “Artaria� edition of Vienna.2 Metronome marks are editorial suggestions and should not be taken too literally.3 This volume is offered  with decorated and undecorated pages (as two books in one) so that the user can chose which version he prefers and construct his printed or digital book accordingly. Strange Etude is a composition influenced by different scales and transitions used by many of the classical pianists.  The song is composed in E minor but could be considered keyless with consideration of the number of accidentals used.  The different tuplets, accidentals and dynamic markings give this piece an unusual and chaotic sound, hence the name used.  This is a good study piece for the intermediate pianist.
