Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.924869 Composed by Stanley M. Hoffman. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #3914653. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.924869). This humorous solo cello piece was written while the composer was an undergraduate student at the Boston Conservatory of Music (now the Boston Conservatory at Berklee). One day the composer and a cellist friend of his were walking down a sidewalk in Kenmore Square when, all of a sudden, a looney man jumped into the busy traffic on Commonwealth Avenue playing a melody on a slide flute. The theme which opens this piece is that tune. The music that follows depicts him darting around creating chaos with cars honking their horns at him, etc. This is a fun piece. Enjoy!

Silver Bells is a Christmas song composed by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. It debuted in the motion picture The Lemon Drop Kid (1951), where it was started by William Frawley, then sung in the generally known version immediately thereafter by Bob Hope and Marilyn Maxwell. Silver Bells started out as Tinkle Bells. Songwriter Ray Evans said: We never thought that tinkle had a double meaning until Jay went home and his first wife said, 'Are you out of your mind? Do you know what the word tinkle is?'This song's inspiration is the source of conflicting reports. Several periodicals and interviews cite writer Jay Livingston stating that the song's inspiration came from the bells used by sidewalk Santa Clauses and Salvation Army solicitors on New York City street corners. However, in an interview with NPR, co-writer Ray Evans said that the song was inspired by a bell that sat on an office desk that he shared with Livingston. Evans's hometown of Salamanca, New York has taken credit for being the city mentioned in the song's lyrics and holds a Silver Bells in the City festival each December.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.782627 Composed by Ashlee T Busch. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 81 pages. Ashlee T Busch #3630157. Published by Ashlee T Busch (A0.782627). Morning is an exercise in musical meditation.  Each line should be brought out soloistically but with attention to the atmosphere of the sound world.  Like walking down a crowded sidewalk, each face contributes color, expression and individualism.  However, as one moves further and further away, the faces begin to blur.  Morning is the 9am walk on that crowded street, the swaying of a thousand corn stalks in an endless field, and the drops of water that make up an ocean.  Always in a crowd.  Always alone.
