Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Baritone Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1358218 Composed by Guillaume de Machaut. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Festival,Historic,Medieval,Wedding. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #942678. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1358218). Guillaume de Machaut's Rondeau No. 13, Dame, Se Vous N'Avez, is a significant work that forms part of his extensive and influential musical output. Machaut, a pinnacle genius of Western music in the Middle Ages, is renowned for his mastery of polyphony and ability to unite melodic and rhythmic elements in his compositions. The rondeau is one of three thirteen-line rondeau poems that Machaut set to music, showcasing his skill in shaping melodic nuances and conceiving forms on a larger scale. The piece is part of Machaut's French songs, which dominated the fourteenth century in terms of quality and volume, further emphasizing its importance in his repertoire. Machaut's work, including Dame, Se Vous N'Avez, has been the subject of scholarly analysis and musical appreciation, underscoring its historical and musical significance. Guillaume de Machaut's Rondeau No. 13 lyrics, Dame, Se Vous N'Avez, express genuine love and devotion. The speaker professes love without deception and invites the lady to test the sincerity of his affection, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to her. The lyrics convey a sense of loyalty and constancy in love, reflecting the themes of courtly love and chivalry prevalent in medieval poetry and music. The poem's emotional depth and romantic expression contribute to its significance as a representative example of medieval lyrical tradition and Machaut's poetic and musical prowess. The musical structure of Guillaume de Machaut's Rondeau No. 13, Dame, Se Vous N'Avez, follows the typical form of a two-part composition, as is common in the musical rondeau. The rondeau is a form of medieval and Renaissance French poetry and a corresponding musical chanson form, typically structured around a fixed pattern of repetition of verse with a refrain. The case of Dame, Se Vous N'Avez is one of three thirteen-line rondeau poems that Machaut set to music, and this form inevitably weights the first part over the second, which is significant for the parodic relationship between the two. The musical setting of the rondeau involves a specific pattern of repetition and refrain, contributing to its characteristic structure within the genre of medieval and Renaissance French music.

Published by Renato Goulart (A0.826513). Written specifically to be performed minutes before a concert, Waiting is a soundscape piece that searches interaction between musicians and the public, working musical sections of different textures through the use of groups of random notes. During the performance, all the musicians walk in different places around the public that arrives to watch the concert. The three signals usually used to signal the start of the concert are replaced by small fanfares played by the trumpets which also serve as reference for the beginning of each section of the piece. The conducting part is left to the musicians and the conductor also participates in performance through small interventions in some groups of performers. The piece can be performed by many groups based on wind instruments, it's a great opportunity for young students to have contact with aspects of contemporary music, including practice of improvisation and memorization. Contrabass and percussion are optional. Full Score, Set of Parts and instructions for perfomance. Grade 2  Youtube performance:https://youtu.be/8OnspF58XCI

Sounds like:  Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Vince Guaraldi, Liz Story, George Winston, early Windham Hill solo piano artistsTranscribed by:  David Shenton ( https://www.shentonmusic.com/ ) verbatim to the sound recordingContents:  1. Joyful Running  2. Fountain Of Life  3. Voice Of God (Thanksgiving)  4. Pocket Change  5. The Journey  6. Smoke Signals  7. Horseman's Thrill Ride  8. End Of The LineAlbum & Songbook review by:  Kathy Parsons (MainlyPiano.com):Isadar’s fourth solo piano album is a blend of smooth jazz and new age stylings, showing both his impressive technique and sensitivity to melody. Several of the eight selections are free-form and improvisational, revealing some of Liz Story’s influence on his music. Some of Isadar’s earlier recordings have very dark, moody sections, but this one stays fairly upbeat and optimistic without being ear candy. The music is complex enough to sink your teeth into, and yet is accessible enough to enjoy as a backdrop to a quiet dinner or an evening with a good book. Joyful Running begins the journey with an exuberant and uplifting piece that reminds me a little of some of Spencer Brewer’s bouncier compositions. Fountain of Life is a beautiful piece with a water-like flow that never stops in its 10 1/2 minutes. I listened to this CD several times without realizing that this song was that long. It flows and meanders so effortlessly that it seemed no longer than the other seven selections, most of which are between four and five minutes in length. Unstructured and free, this is one of my favorite tracks. I also really like the title track, which is even more abstract and unstructured. The tone is of searching and moving forward. End of the Line is my favorite on this album. Very introspective and contemplative, this seems to be a very personal piece. It is the most somber track, but one still senses hope despite the ending of something dear and important. Or maybe it’s simply the end of the journey and the dread of returning to real life - I feel this way on the last day of my vacations! It is a wonderful and moving closing to an excellent album. The companion songbook is expertly transcribed and engraved by David Shenton of New York Music Publishing. The layout of the music is clear and uncluttered, and the notation includes pedal markings and dynamics that allow the pianist to express the music as closely as possible to how Isadar played it on the recording.  A few of the pieces are quite long and require a more advanced pianist who is able to express the nuances that keep the recording so interesting, but several of the pieces are well within the capabilities of upper intermediate players.  Some of the rhythms are a little bit tricky, but the majority of the left hand parts are running eighth notes, which make it easier.  None of the key signatures are difficult, and none of the chords have a reach of more than an octave, making this music very playable for smaller hands.  My favorite pieces to play in this book are Joyful Running, Voice of God (Thanksgiving), Smoke Signals, and End of the Line.Isadar is an artist on both Enlightened Piano Radio & Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, the latter featuring some of today's biggest names in solo piano music, including Ludovico Einaudi, David Nevue, Brian Crain, Kevin Kern, Robin Spielberg, Michele McLaughlin, Philip Wesley and over 300 more... Also available as sheet music in physical songbooks, digital downloads, as well as software for Yamaha Disklavier player piano.

Piano Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549058 Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. 20th Century,Holiday,Instructional,Standards. 21 pages. Jmsgu3 #3449745. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549058). Gabriel Fauré: Sicilienne Op. 78. Nice recital encore piece. It is very moody with a light touch of impressionism and poignant mode mixture. This piece will add a surprising element to your concert and demonstrate the depth of your musical sensitivity. Significant Aspects of Faure's Sicilienne Gabriel Fauré's Sicilienne, Op. 78 is significant due to its history, influence, and musical characteristics. Historical Significance The piece was initially composed in 1893 as part of incidental music for a theatrical production that was later abandoned. Fauré reused the Sicilienne in 1898 when he wrote incidental music for the English translation of Maeterlinck's play Pelléas et Mélisande. This piece was later extracted and formed into an orchestral suite for concerts, known as the Pelléas et Mélisande Suite, Op. 80. Influence and Popularity Fauré's harmonic richness and melodic innovations in the Sicilienne influenced other composers. The Sicilienne is the most famous piece from the Pelléas et Mélisande Suite and is frequently played by significant orchestras today. Musical Characteristics The piece is known for its conversational style for both cello and piano, and it exhibits chromatic movement to evoke a Renaissance aesthetic with the Sicilienne dance. It is also more complex than the typical song in terms of chords and melody, with above-average scores in chord and melodic complexity. In conclusion, Faure's Sicilienne is significant due to its historical background, influence on other composers, and unique musical characteristics. Dance and Fabric The term Sicilienne is derived from the French word Sicilienne, which means Sicilian. It is associated with a dance called the Siciliana and a kind of rich poplin fabric. Musical Style Sicilienne refers to a musical style or genre often included as a movement within more significant pieces of music, starting in the Baroque period. It is associated with a pastoral mood and is often characterized by dotted rhythms that can distinguish it within the broader musical genre of the pastorale.
