Children,Contemporary,Instructional,Praise & Worship,Sacred. 12 pages. Sharon Wilson #3233879. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565016). This sheet music is for a three-part ensemble requiring three (3) sets of 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instruments (notated for two sets of Handbells and one set of Boomwhackers®). Each instrument set carries the melody for one verse and plays harmony on the other verses. When not playing the melody, the Boomwhackers® maintain a steady rhythm with 2-note chords. Included in this set of scores is a 3-page combined score with all three parts on a grand staff plus a separate 2-page, 1-staff score for each individual part. This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. Handbells sold by Rhythm Band or KidsPlay also use this same color scheme (other brands may use different color schemes). Using color coded notes helps beginning musicians learn to read standard sheet music notation. This set of scores is also available (separate purchase) in black and white which will print clearer if you do not have access to a color printer. The two Handbell sets have the same note range: C D E F G A C* where C* is one octave above middle C. The notes used by the Boomwhackers® are C D E F G A. Though this sheet music is notated for Handbells and Boomwhackers®, this arrangement is playable by any 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instrument such as a xylophone or glockenspiel (though the color coding may not match). The number of ringers and whackers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two or three notes for a total group size of 9 players. For beginners, it is best to assign one or two notes to each person. Day by Day / My Faith Looks Up to Thee piano solo for Left Hand alone by Stephen R Dalrymple  Day by Day - Lyrics by Karolina W Sandell-Berg, translated by Andrew L Skoog, Music: BLOTT EN DAG, byOskar Anhelt 1872 My Faith Looks Up to Thee - Lyrics by Ray Palmer 1830, Music: OLIVET by Lowell Mason 1830  Why write (or play) pieces for left hand alone? 1. My college piano teacher assigned my first LH Alone piece (Prélude For Left Hand Alone by Alexander Scriàbin after I injured my right hand because needed to keep my practice going. 2. It’s concentrated practice for advancing all of the left hand skills. 3. For those of us who are right handed, we don’t always listen to the phrasing we are creating with our left hands. Playing a melody line with the left hand alone forces one to critique and correct the musicality of the left hand. 4. It forces the left hand to move from register to register on the piano. 5. There is wonderful literature for left hand alone that is worth playing.Suitable for Preludes, Offertories, Concerts. Includes 2 versions 1) Piano Score 2) small page format for performing from 8.9 inch tablet.

Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818320). His Eye is On the Sparrowpiano solo for left hand alone by Stephen R Dalrymple performed by the composer © 2020,  Phonogram Copyright  2020 Stephen R Dalrymple My sophomore year in at Biola University I sprained my right wrist. I was making a lot of progress with my piano teacher Miss Jennie Kuk-Ying Wong and was concerned about losing momentum. Not to worry, Miss Wong assigned me Alexander Scriàbin’s  Prélude in C# minor by for solo piano, left hand alone. Working with my left hand alone for a couple of weeks was extremely instructive. Training my left hand to play a melodic legato with the same quality as my dominant hand was challenging, but rewarding. Ever since, I have used compositions for left hand alone occasionally for practice and training. This has led me to write several piano solos for left hand alone. The pace of His Eye is on the Sparrow  is unhurried, so the pianist gets the full benefit of the exercise.   Suitable for preludes, offertories, concerts, personal meditation. Includes 2 versions 1) piano score letter size 2) piano score -  small page format for performing from 10.1 inch tablet (Tell your computer which pages you want to print. String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1416898 Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 19th Century,Chamber,Contest,Festival,Historic,Romantic Period. 17 pages. Jmsgu3 #998489. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1416898). The Fugue in A-flat minor, WoO 8, is one of the early organ works by Brahms, composed around 1856-57. It is an intense, brooding fugue published without an opus number. The fugue is part of a small set of four early organ pieces by Brahms, including the chorale prelude and fugue O Traurigkeit, o Herzeleid (WoO 7). These early organ works demonstrate Brahms' mastery of counterpoint at a young age. While Brahms did not have a close personal relationship with the organ, the genre of the chorale prelude allowed him to pay homage to his musical heritage, following the conventions of the form by paraphrasing and elaborating on pre-existing Lutheran chorale melodies. The Fugue in A-flat minor is considered one of the most significant and high-quality of Brahms' early organ works. It was eventually assigned the posthumous opus number 122, which is still known today. So, in summary, the Fugue in A-flat minor is an essential early organ work by Brahms that demonstrates his mastery of counterpoint, even though the organ was not his primary instrument. It is considered a significant and high-quality piece within Brahms' overall organ output.

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1401651 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Contest,Festival,Historic,Standards,Traditional. 70 pages. Jmsgu3 #984834. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1401651). Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 is significant for its composition and structure. It features nine solo strings divided into three groups of violins, violas, and cellos, showcasing a colorful instrumentation and demanding performance requirements. The concerto opens majestically with distinct groupings of soloists by instrument, maintaining these divisions throughout the movement with moments of independence for each soloist. The closing movement, a vigorous allegro, follows a similar pattern with the nine players divided by instrument. Additionally, the concerto includes a two-note adagio cadence where musicians were intended to improvise a link between the outer movements. This concerto is a prime example of the Baroque concerto style. It demonstrates Bach's mastery in creating intricate and harmonious compositions that challenge performers while showcasing the beauty of different instruments working together harmoniously. The historical context of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos is rooted in the Baroque era and Bach's circumstances. Composed around 1711-1720 and dedicated in 1721 to Christian Ludwig, the Margrave of Brandenburg, these concertos were a collection of six concerti grossi that showcased a balance between various groups of soloists and a small orchestra. Bach's decision to compile these concertos was influenced by his need for employment and his encounter with Christian Ludwig, who commissioned several works after being impressed by his performance in Berlin around 1719. Despite Bach's hopes for a position at the Brandenburg court, the Margrave did not pay for the work, possibly because the pieces were revisions of earlier compositions rather than new creations specifically for him. Moreover, the Brandenburg Concertos exemplify the concerto grosso genre popular during the Baroque era, featuring a more significant number of soloists than usual and expansive music that showcases a variety of instruments in different combinations. Bach's innovative use of instruments like trumpets, recorders, French horns, oboes, flutes, violino piccolo, violas da gamba, and harpsichord in these concertos highlights his creativity and mastery in composing intricate and diverse musical pieces. The historical significance lies in Bach's ability to blend different musical styles and forms while creating a set of concertos that music lovers cherish today.

Cornet,Horn,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1347512 Composed by Philippe De Vitry. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Early Music,Historic,Medieval,Traditional. 6 pages. Jmsgu3 #932321. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1347512). The motet Hugo, Hugo, princeps by Philippe de Vitry is significant for its musical innovation and potential political connotations. The motet's text is drawn from the opening lines in the two top voices, and it is suggested that it makes a strong political statement about the exile of French Christians, similar to the Jews from their homeland in the Old Testament and the corrupt leadership at the time. Additionally, the motet employs elements that de Vitry helped develop early in the 14th century, which would later characterize the Ars Nova period in music. Therefore, Hugo, Hugo, princeps is notable for its musical and potentially political significance. The term Hugo princeps in Philippe de Vitry's motet is believed to refer to a specific individual named Hugo, potentially with political connotations. The term princeps in the motet's title may imply a reference to a leader or prince. When combined with the context of the text, it likely carries a symbolic or allegorical meaning related to that period's political and social environment. The term Cum structura in Hugo princepsCum structura is a musical term that translates to with structure in English. In the context of Philippe de Vitry's motet, it likely denotes the structural complexity and organization of the musical composition. This term reflects the meticulous and innovative musical construction for which Vitry's works are known, particularly during the Ars Nova period in the 14th century.Philippe de Vitry, a French composer-poet, bishop, and music theorist, is known for his significant contributions to late medieval music. In the last decade of his life, from 1351 to 1361, he served as the Bishop of Meaux, near Paris. This appointment was the crowning event of his court and church career. As a bishop, Vitry's accomplishments were primarily in the musical and literary domains. He was an innovative and influential composer, widely acknowledged as a leading musician of his day, and his treatise Ars Nova became a rallying cry for all modern composers after about 1320. Additionally, he was known for his French poetry set to music, creating a new style of song, anticipating the work of Guillaume de Machaut. While his tenure as a bishop was relatively short, his lasting impact was in music and poetry.
