String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1401941 Composed by Alexander Scriabin. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 20th Century,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Historic,Standards. 36 pages. Jmsgu3 #985140. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1401941). Scriabin's Op. 74, specifically the Five Preludes, is significant for its innovative harmonic system based on the Mystic Chord. Scriabin's use of the acoustic scale as a set, known as the Mystic Chord, revolutionized traditional tonal gravity and functionality in his compositions. The tritone plays a crucial role in his harmonic construction and formal definition, often leading to sections returning at tritone transpositions. Despite the absence of tonal gravity, Scriabin assigns a pitch-center to his pieces, redefining tonal orientation through the primary transposition of the Mystic Chord. These preludes, composed in 1914 before he died in 1915, showcase Scriabin's mastery of harmonies and his departure from traditional tonalities.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1180570 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 22 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #780474. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1180570). Wikipedia entry on Ferruccio Busoni's Elegies (German: Elegien): The Elegies mark a significant change in Busoni's compositional approach.  The harmonic language of the Elegies is extended, with the pedal used audaciously to blend disparate tones: unrelated triads are overlapped and juxtaposed; chords are constructed from intervals other than thirds; unusual and highly chromatic scales and runs, often differing from the surrounding harmonies, are extensively employed and varied; melodies, and solitary sighs, moving by whole and half steps, magnify these disorienting effects.Busoni recognized the change: My entire personal vision I put down at last and for the first time in the Elegies, and the Elegies signify a milestone in my development.  Almost a transformation ...  Inspired by his work, I gave myself a challenge to write my own version of Elegien.   Like the Busoni, it is in seven movements for solo piano.1. Recueillement ... Sostenuto, quasi Moderato2. Barcarolo in modo napolitano ... Andante3. Choralvorspiel ... Adagio4. Intermezzo ... Allegretto   TRIO 5. Walzer ... Andante, più tranquillo6. Notturno ... Moderato … quasi rubato, Andante7. Berceuse ... Largo calmoThis work is dedicated to the memory of Nika Shakarami and Sarina Esmailzadeh.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1281185 By Kevin Longley. By Kevin Longley. Arranged by Kevin Longley. Christian,Easter,Lent,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 9 pages. Kevin Longley #872527. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1281185). He Will Lead Me Home (choral church anthem composed in 2023)The InspirationA few Easter seasons ago, during one of our Tuesday Choir rehearsals, we were preparing for “Good Shepherd Sundayâ€. Diane our Choir director commented “there are very few Good Shepherd pieces to choose fromâ€. One of our sopranos replied “Let's write our ownâ€. I made note of it and this past year finally found the time and inspiration to give it a try. I did my usual research on the subject matter and then found a drawing of a Shepherd standing at the top of a hill with his sheep lined up behind him. Leaning on his staff the Shepherd was contemplating the safest route home. Upon his decision he looked back and called to his sheep. The MusicThe music begins with a piano introduction depicting the Shepherd standing at the top of the hill contemplating the safest route home, as noted earlier. Stately in nature it features a simple melodic idea, played by the right hand, which is then answered by a series of majestic chords. This “back and forth†continues until it reaches its climax at a D flat major chord against a slur from a high G to F. At this point we hear what will be a reoccurring chordal theme of C major to F major and later C minor to F major. The accompaniment begins, now in three quarter time signifying the sheep beginning to move in response to the shepherds call. The verse melody is drawn from the opening three notes of the introduction but with a different rhythm and repeats it self with underlying harmonic changes. The melody and chord structure is somewhat impressionistic in nature. Lyrically a contrast is drawn between how the Shepherd (Jesus) provides for his sheep (followers) and how God provides for the “sheep†(animals) through nature. As the verse comes to an end we are lead to the realization that “the shepherd is the Lord our King, the Good Shepherd Kingâ€. The refrain begins with the tenor continuing to solo on the main melody. â€He Will Lead Home†is realized and proclaimed! A soprano descant is added for contrast. Harmonically the music makes use of the various minor key options, “melodic, harmonic and naturalâ€. The refrain concludes proclaiming “The Good Shepherds the Way He's our Life!â€. The second verse shadows the thought pattern of verse one leading to the refrain once more but this time a bridge is introduced to add drama with the piano playing a significant role. A return to the refrain is varied with the tenor singing a portion of it against softly played chords; but then resumes its rhythmic drive to its ultimate conclusion by repeating “the Good Shepherds the Way He's our Life!â€.Program NotesVoicing can be varied based on what types of singers are available. For example this could be sung by 2 tenors with one singing the descant down an octave. Finally as noted in the score, the intro is optional though I prefer it be played; the shepherd contemplating a safe route is important in the music with its contrast to the verse music and important in our life of faith.

Hermeto is a significant figure in the history of Brazilian music, recognized mainly for his skills in orchestration and improvisation, as well as being a music producer and collaborator on several national and international albums.[3] Known as The Witcher, Pascoal often makes music with unconventional objects such as teapots, children's toys and animals, as well as keyboards, button accordion, melodica, saxophone, guitar, flute, voice, various brass and folk instruments.Perhaps because having grown up in the countryside, he uses nature as a basis for his compositions, as in his Música da Lagoa, in which the musicians bubble water and play flutes immersed in a lagoon: a Brazilian television station in 1999 showed him soloing at one point, singing in a glass with the mouth partially submerged in water.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.962502 Composed by Jordan Morrison. Blues,Concert,Instructional,Jazz. Score. 11 pages. Jordan Morrison Music #2988647. Published by Jordan Morrison Music (A0.962502). West Face is a 3 movement work for Keyboard and Drum Set both played simultaneously by one player. Each movement can stand alone but work better as a larger work, The movements become successively more difficult. This piece will require a significant amount of coordination to execute. The piece was inspired by some rock climbing exploits which required great planning and coordination to accomplish. Performance Advice: The performer should be creative with the problems faced in this piece. It is up to the performer to decide which hand is designated for the keyboard (occasionally both hands will be required). Most of the hi-hat notes should be played by a foot. If you have performance issues please feel free to contact me at jordanmorrison113@gmail.com.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1109087 By Kevin Longley. By Kevin Longley. Arranged by Kevin Longley. A Cappella,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 10 pages. Kevin Longley #711630. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1109087). Inspiration While I have recited the Nicene Creed countless times, in July 2021 something changed. The church had cleared the return of the choir, post pandemic, and it was my first Sunday of singing in well over a year. That Sunday as I recited the creed something happened when I reached the line “And His Kingdom Will Have No Endâ€. Was it louder? Was it spoken with greater conviction? Something was different! Maybe it was just me. I'm not sure but all I know is that every Sunday thereafter it had the same impact on me. Within a few weeks I decided to compose a choral piece about that very line. I had to! The Music For the most part the harmony and structure are traditional but do contain harmonic structures with a contemporary flair. The arrangement is refrain, verse, refrain, verse, bridge and then refrain. The first and 3rd refrains are highly similar while the second refrain contains a soprano section descant while featuring the bass's carrying the main melody. The overall intent of the music is that on every return to the refrain, it is louder than the previous refrain. This signifies the singers confidence growing, in the existence of God's Kingdom, after each verse. With that said the piece starts quietly, almost being heard from a distance. The refrain lyrics speak to the hope that we carry for God's kingdom while the verses speak to God and Jesus in a more intimate way. The bridge speaks to the strength of the Kingdom and then leads back to the opening refrain, now in double forte. The high point in the piece is reached where volume, emotion and a significant ritard occur at the phrase “we'll be togetherâ€. From there the piece decreases in volume ending in a quiet confidence repeating “No end, no end, no endâ€.

Unimusic Academy (Academia Unimusica) #6265977. Published by Unimusic Academy (Academia Unimusica) (A0.809438). Nights in White Satin is a song by the Moody Blues, written and composed by Justin Hayward. It was first featured as the segment The Night on the album Days of Future Passed. When first released as a single in 1967, it reached number 19 on the UK Singles Chart and number 103 in the United States in 1968. It was the first significant chart entry by the band since Go Now and its recent lineup change, in which Denny Laine and Clint Warwick had resigned and both Hayward and John Lodge had joined. When reissued in 1972, in the United States the single hit number two for two weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 (behind I Can See Clearly Now by Johnny Nash) and hit number one on the Cash Box Top 100. It earned a gold certification for sales of over a million US copies (platinum certification was not instituted until 1976). It also hit number one in Canada. After two weeks at #2, it was replaced by I'd Love You to Want Me by Lobo. It reached its highest UK position this year at number 9. Although the song did not enter the official New Zealand chart, it reached #5 on the New Zealand Listener's chart compiled from the readers' votes in 1973.[4] The song enjoyed a recurring chart presence in the following decades. It charted again in the UK and Ireland in 1979 reaching #14 and #8, respectively. The song charted again in 2010, reaching number 51 in the British Official Singles Charts.[5] It has also been covered by numerous other artists, most notably Giorgio Moroder, Elkie Brooks, and Sandra.

Violin Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1004155 Composed by Matthew Phillips. 20th Century,Contemporary. 4 pages. Matthew Scott Phillips #6213023. Published by Matthew Scott Phillips (A0.1004155). The Purpose of my music is to mythologize the world around us: to not only signify but make significant the experience of life. In doing so, I attempt to reach beyond what can be described in words, to the transcendent and spiritually profound, and to take the listener with me. Mine is not music to be analyzed, but experienced. The art Kulning is the practice in rural Norway and Sweden of singing high pitched melodies to call livestock herds down from the high mountains where they would graze. The songs can be unique to an individual, but are often family based so that the animals know the specific melody of their owners' calls. Though disappearing, these haunting melodies can still be heard today in parts of the Scandinavian countryside, and imbue the land with a sacred tone.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkFS1PbS7oXOdM22kwII36Awww.matthewscottphillips.comwww.matthewscottphillips.com

Premiered May 2, 2013. Notes about the Music: In the spring of 2012, I was in Minnesota attending some performances, and had the fortunate opportunity of catching up with Matthew George, conductor of the Grand Symphonic Winds. Matt had given the world premiere performance of my Concerto for Brass Quintet (Dodecafecta), and has always had a major presence in the formation of new works for winds, so I was very delighted when he brought up the idea of a new work for his group. The Grand Symphonic Winds, in honor of their 25th anniversary, were looking to celebrate the influx of many international cultures which had become a significant part of the landscape in Minnesota. This immediately called out to me in musical terms, namely in the forms of rhythms and spirituality (hence the title!) The piece opens and closes with heroic and beautiful music, signifying (to me) what most cultures seem to all be saying, but in different languages: we all just want peace, harmony and love. The entire middle section is very rhythmic, using many percussion instruments found in different cultures, also represented in Minnesota: Latin America (claves, bongos), Africa (Djembe) and if possible, Southeast Asia (Dholak). And just for fun, I even spelled out Minnesota in Morse code, but this was merely for my own enjoyment! I wish to thank Matt George, for all he has done for the field of music in Wind Ensembles, and specifically to him and the Grand Symphonic Winds for entrusting to me the responsibility of composing this new work, which I truly hope finds its home in the literature. Jim Stephenson March, 2013 Instrumentation: Wind Ensemble – one per part, except: 2 tubas recommended, French Horns doubled Recommended: Rhythm percussion sit in the middle of the ensemble, or immediately in front of the conductor, where visible to audience. Percussion instruments needed: Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Cymb. a2 Claves, Djembe, Marimba, Triangle, Vibes, Bongos (or Dholak) Xylophone, Glock., Tambourine, Sus. Cymb. (if desired, the Dholak could replace the Bongos, using high/low sounds).
