Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1048505 Composed by Brad Howland. Classical,Contemporary. 12 pages. Linden Brass Press Inc. #652913. Published by Linden Brass Press Inc. (A0.1048505). I wrote this little piece for a clarinet-playing friend. It's basically my impressions of the sights and sounds of seagulls while walking around the city where I live. Seagulls seem to make an amazingly wide variety of sounds, and I think I was able to capture a few of them in this piece. I consulted with some professional woodwind players and was told the effects should work fine. Some of the oboe writing is apparently a bit low, and might be better played slurred. I often see a single seagull perched on top of a neighbor's house (who we nicknamed Egbert) - hence the quote from a popular tune.

The first movement, Morning, portrays the hot morning as people gather for a parade; the second movement, Afternoon, introduces the sound of a baseball game; and the third movement, Evening, evokes the day fading into memory. The premiere took place at a concert at Pepperdine University in October of 2017 featuring Louise Lofquist, contralto, and the composer at the piano.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955827 Composed by Eily Beadell and Nell Tollerton. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Contemporary. 8 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6236321. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955827). This old-timey-flavored 1945 tune, Cruising Down the River, was the winning entry submitted by two middle-aged women in a public songwriting contest. The lyrics were written in Eily Beadell in the 1920’s and melody composed by music hall performer Ena Dayne.  Seeing Ms Dayne could not read music it was transcribed by Nell Tollerton. This arrangement is for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment.  Performance time: 2:27+ This arrangement works perfectly for outdoor entertainments, riverside concerts, or performances on a boat cruising down the river.  It also serves well as a group sing-along.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.997617 By Lynne Cox. By Lynne Cox. Children,Instructional,Multicultural,World. Score. 4 pages. Lynne Coc Publications #603265. Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.997617). 'Cruising Down the Nile' is an easy intermediate piano solo w/lyrics. Explores the lovely exotic sound of Mid-eastern music. Lyrics depict Ancient Egypt and scenes along the Nile. Uses broken 5ths in LH accompaniment with syncopation to depict the plodding of camels through the desert, while melodically the RH plays along the upper tetrachord (last 4 notes) of G harmonic minor scale. I included a mordant and turn to mimic the shake of the tambourine used in Ancient Egyptian music. I chose the title because of a song I dearly loved to sing as a child, 'Cruising Down the River', by Beadell and Tollerton. Animals from this region such as hippos and crocodiles are the guides from Noahs Ark. My 'Noah's Ark Series' was created to introduce piano students to different musical styles and to global music. For the student what more fun guides could there be besides animals? Different animals in various locales introduce the student to numerous styles-in this piece, the lovely exotic Mid-eastern music with camels, crocodiles, and hippos in the lyrics being the guides. Try other pieces with lyrics in this series: 'Koala Lullaby' (lullaby); 'Iguana' (tango) 'Sam the Lamb' (Celtic/Strophic); and 'Joey the Wallabee Kangarro' (waltz). This series makes a great recital theme and is contest material.
