Even As a Child
“ . . . becometh as a child, submissive, . . .� - (Mosiah 3:19)

When Jesus was a child, he reasoned with the scribes,
Desiring to teach them at the temple spires.
Because his age was twelve, He stayed in Nazareth,
Growing much in wisdom’s path, gaining holy breath.

He waited patiently, his ministry to come . . .
Yielding to his Father’s will; He was God’s own Son.
He trusted as He lived with all obedience,
Even as He faced, with strength, many mortal threats.

Then when his end was nigh, when none would intercede,
Standing before Pilate’s face, He did never plead.
He firmly held his peace and answered to no man.
Nearing his own death He pled: Clean those soldier’s hands!

In honor He did live, thus showing us the way.
Now He only begs that we, too, can God obey.
Oh, even as this Child abandoned earthly hopes,
Can we also live our lives with our Savior yoked?

Chorus:
Will we also give to Him each worldly desire,
Even as this Child of God, and so be lifted higher?

The Quiet originated from watching a snowstorm from my window at night as the flakes danced in the weak light of the lamp outside. The desire to make the storm audible was the starting point for a journey which morphed into many different other strange, close, and distant storms. These storms constantly evolved from natural occurances into far away atmospheres surrounding human activity, before returning to natural realms. (Chaya Czernowin)

Yet with repentance I’ll still live with Him.

I was not there when Christ gifted all men.
I was not there to see angels then.
I was not there when He trembled for hours,
But I can witness his pure, holy power.

I was not there when Christ suffered for me;
I was not there in Gethsemane.
I was not there when He died on the cross,
Yet for his gift I would ever be lost.

I was not there when love dripped from His pores,
But I can share His great love evermore.

In my Samaria, Walking with lesions,
Latter-day maladies Torment my soul.
I lift my searching voice High to the heavens
Pleading for grace divine, And to be whole.

Through His discerning love, Knowing my weakness,
And with omniscient care, God bids me on.
Then, in His majesty, Mercy and meekness
Christ’s balm surrounds me - e-My stains are gone!

Falling to my knees, As did the leper,
Gratitude seals my love With reverent awe.
I raise my words in thanks -- He is my Healer;
His past Gethsemane Cures without flaw.

Cleansed, I am wholly cleansed, Just like the leper.
Christ is my perfect Source . . . I’m not alone.
He spent his life for me Teaching, redeeming;
He sacrificed for me; I am His own.

Like the fog in a storm and the sun who hides its face,
Like pure shadows at noon, or a star out of place,
Like the moon overhead in a dark and unclear night,
I beseech more earnestly, seeking God’s pure light.

Like bold sighs braving pain in Gethsemane’s lone space,
Like the rock placed therein meant for grief’s leaning place,
As blood dripping like rain for the pain is far too great,
I beseech more earnestly, seeking God’s own traits.

Like a child asking “How?” to his Father up above,
Like each step to ascend on his ladder of love,
Like each stretch sure to reach far beyond what I now know,
I beseech more earnestly, trusting God to show.

All at once I see light like a ray in shadowed sky,
And it peers through each sphere as God’s voice in reply.
Then more light, as if day, sheds its warmth into my soul . . .
I still ask more earnestly, trusting to be whole.

Perfect light comes from Him as He answers from his sky;
From my bowed, lowered head, I can know Him on high.
Perfect love shines below, from his ever-holy form,
Right into my mended soul . . . his love to adorn.

This Friday, dark like stain, never came again.
Jesus Christ was in the tomb, killed by spiteful men.
Soon a miracle honored all mankind:
Jesus burst the bonds of death, bringing life past time.

Christ’s resurrection claims all will live once more.
His gift renders unity for each soul restored.
This is Christ’s pure love giv’n on Sunday morn.
Now, throughout eternity, new life will be born.

Hereafter we will praise Jesus Christ, our Lord,
Thanking Him for giving us life forevermore.
With those gone in death, we will reunite.
Sunday’s joy will come to all filled with heaven’s light.

“ . . . for He loveth the world . . .�  (2 Nephi 26:24)

In a striking prophecy and opened to his view,
Enoch saw mortality as a glorious truth.
Curtains of creation birthed God’s pure holy race.
Yet what Enoch saw were tears on His saddened face.

How is it that Thou canst weep? Thou art God of all!
All eternity is thine . . . this thy sacred call.
Mercy goes before thy eyes, truth before thy throne.
How is it that Thou canst weep? All thy worlds are known.

Of my soul pure children came, from my very hands.
I gave mankind agency so all love could stand.
But, behold, their sins I see; mis’ry is their doom.
Seeing some shall suffer much, my heart feels entombed.

Shouldest not the heavens weep for these ofmy own?
Suff’ring for each child of mine, I for them atoned.
Tears that fall are for their souls; these must suffer too.
If they choose not to repent, my love seems untrue.

On one silent Christmas Eve, Mary bore her son
in a dark and lonely place . . . God’s first beloved One.
This new Baby born to be King of all mankind
would deliver love abroad . . . His love for all to find.

Like the star of Bethlehem in dark Judean skies,
Jesus’ love can ever shine through mortal’s dim disguise.

In a shadowed weary world, peace may wear a veil.
Seeking true tranquility allows light to prevail.
Searching only earthly gems blinds a common face,
‘Til we grasp our Savior’s love and feel his warm embrace.

Like the star of Bethlehem that glowed in dark of night,
Jesus is the guiding One, our true eternal Light.

As we search submissively; as we watch and pray,
God will light each path ahead like on that Christmas day.
He was born in dark of night, Mary’s newborn son.
He was born as Son of God; He is our saving One!

Like the star of Bethlehem, in heav’n to find the King,
Jesus Christ will guide us home when purest love we bring.

To see his face, this newborn infant Son,
is to look upon pure brilliance like the sun.
To see his form, with glory in a stall,
hints for me to kneel and touch his swaddling shawl.

To see his face, to gaze upon his eyes,
is to know his strength which someday will supply
the greatest gift mankind will ever know . . .
He will give his life, his perfect love to show.

To hear his cries, I weep with gratitude
celebrating love, his sacrifice and wounds.
I bow my head in reverence for his Name.
He will take my sins, releasing me from shame.

To see his face, the very Son of God,
is to look upon perfection never flawed.
I speak his Name, this newborn heavn’ly Child,
and I know, from Him, to God I’m reconciled.

I lift my voice in songs of heartfelt praise.
On this Christmas morn to Him my eyes will stay.
I feel his love; I sense his warm embrace
as I look upon his ever-faithful face.

I am the Cov'nant Father for all of mankind. 
These, my children through the world I'm able to bind. 
Ev'ry oath I give attests of my dear Son, Jesus Christ. 
O, He is the One who sacrified; His love paid the price.

I am the Cov'nant Father for all vows extolled. 
Jesus gave His perfect life for each precious soul. 
Ye are my precious fam'ly pure kinship from the start.
I'm your Father up above and I give to  you my heart.

I am the Cov'nant Father; this is my design. 
Ordinances in Christ's name are the sacred signs. 
I assure my word of honor; my promises are sure. 
O, my love will last eternally, always to endure.

Promises are cherished gifts to give each child of mine.
