Concert band - Grade 1 - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CBS1613 Composed by Marsha Chusmir Shapiro. Score and Parts. 57 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CBS1613. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBS1613). 9 x 12 in inches.Composer's NotesFor several years I taught at a private Catholic school, the Bascillica School of St. Paul. I was exposed to some beautiful melodies from the weekly Masses, including one I particularly remembered, but which was under copyright. So I decided to create a similar modal line and open the composition as if it were being sung in a church. I play the French horn which is why I chose that voice to express the theme. The variations which followed were to begin as historically simple, but move toward a more contemporary sound. I have always loved the percussive sound of Vaclav Nelhybell's music and that is what I intended for the ending.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1309766 Composed by Jay Rifkin, Lebo M, and Mark Mancina. Arranged by Andrea Smiley. Broadway,Classical,Film/TV,Multicultural,Musical/Show,World. 77 pages. Andrea Smiley #898932. Published by Andrea Smiley (A0.1309766). Several years ago, I lost my father suddenly.  One of the things that helped me through the grieving proess was music.  The music of Kings of the Past and He Lives in You from Disney's The Lion King resonated in me during this time and, being a musician, I started searching for an arrangement of this for symphonic wind ensemble.  Much to my disappointment, I could not find such an arrangement.  So, I sat down and wrote this out, developing the emotional tones I felt during the process, traveling from grief and despair to eventually hope and celebraton of who my father was and that he continues to abide in me in spirit, and developing the difficuty level I thought would be welcome in the type of ensemble I like to play in.  I would recommend this score and parts to a community band or a skilled high school band, as ther are several chances to highlight the different sections of the band with multiple solos that will challenge the range on the instrumentalists.

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.996121 Composed by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky. Arranged by Erik Cole. Romantic Period. 33 pages. Erik Cole #4793067. Published by Erik Cole (A0.996121). This is a transcription of the complete Pictures at an Exhibition for double reed choir. It is all in the original keys and based on the well-known Ravel orchestration, which is quite difficult. As a result, this arrangement is even more challenging. It is designed with at least 2 players per part in mind, and all of the oboe and bassoon parts are divisi throughout. The attached MP3 recordings are multi-track recordings of me playing all the parts. This was, by far, the most daunting recording I have put together for any of my arrangements, and I apologize for any minor imperfections in timing or pitch. In many places, this really stretched the limits of what I am capable of on bassoon. Faced with trying to recreate the uniqueness of Ravel’s use of the solo Alto Saxophone, I decided to give that part to a solo Oboe d’Amore. It’s quite distinct, and conveniently just exactly fits into the range of the instrument. Many groups won’t have access to a d’amore, though, so I have included an alternate part for English Horn. Using it does make this the only movement that requires 2 English Horns, however. This is also the movement where I discovered that the cheap recording equipment I’m using currently doesn’t like long sustained tones, and there are a lot of them in this movement. For whatever reason, there’s a lot of distortion on them in the MP3, and I apologize for not being able to figure out how to correct that.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1000329 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, Paul Eber, and Steve Boudreau. Arranged by Steve Boudreau. 20th Century,Jazz,Sacred. Score. 2 pages. Steve Boudreau #6681051. Published by Steve Boudreau (A0.1000329). The Bach Chorales are ultimate examples of melodies creating harmonies, the parts coming together to form a whole. They are also great examples of a musician taking a melody and making a new arrangement of it, like jazz musicians do today. This piece is a combination of two chorale melodies that Bach arranged, originally based on hymns by 16th-century composer Paul Eber. For context, Bach set the melody around 200 years after it was written, and I re-worked the melodies with my own harmonies nearly 300 years after that. The first job I had when I moved back to Ottawa from Boston was as a church pianist. At one point there was a two-month stretch where I was in charge of programming the instrumental music we played, and I challenged myself to come up with new arrangements every week- the way Bach would have in his time, just on a much smaller scale. This was a terrific creative outpouring of music for me, and it renewed my enormous respect for the church music community and the work involved. For this piece I took two seemingly unrelated chorales (they are actually from the same Cantata, BWV 127) and attached them, using their distant keys of A Major and F Major to set up an interesting modulation halfway through. I had to actively try out some more modern harmonic progressions to take the overall sound of the piece further away from Bach's version. One of my favourite moments is when you finish the C major resolution and then repeat back into F# Minor at the top for improvising. In the solo piano version this surprising cut doesn't occur unless you take a second pass through the piece, so I encourage you to try repeating the piece even if you don't feel comfortable embellishing or changing anything the second time around.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976734 Composed by Robert Myers. 20th Century,Christmas,Contemporary. Score and parts. 99 pages. WheatMyer Music #6496769. Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976734). CONJUNCTION interprets the convergence of Jupiter and Saturn near the end of the year 2020 as a celestial metaphor for the good news of Christ's birth in a replay of the Star of Bethlehem. Hence, its subtitle of The Christmas Star of 2020. The music, along with narration from selected Old and New Testament scriptures, delivers a message of hope amid the turmoil and chaos of current times. It's written for smaller concert bands hungry for challenging music. Ample cues and doubling allow for flexible instrumentation while mixed meters, varying tempos and textures, and interesting solo lines provide opportunities for strong players to shine. CONJUNCTION is also available with strings for orchestra.PROGRAM NOTES:2020 is widely characterized for its maladies: murders, burning cities, riots, a pandemic, economic shocks, and political turmoil. For some of us, it also held personal tragedy such as my brother’s passing from COVID. But, 2020 also brought a sign of hope, namely the celestial phenomenon known as the Great Conjunction of 2020. For earth-bound observers, this was the closest approach of Jupiter and Saturn in almost 400 years as they appeared to almost touch in the early evening sky to produce the most brilliant evening star of our lifetimes. The occurrence of the event in November-December neatly coincided with the Advent season, peaking just before Christmas Day. One could hardly fail to note the parallels with the Christmas star of Matthew’s gospel which gave the conjunction its alternate name, the Christmas Star of 2020. Thus, this star spoke, to those with ears to hear, the same message the prophet Isaiah wrote about the coming Messiah, The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. This star thus served to remind us that the LORD has not rejected us; He will show His favor again; His love has not vanished; His promises have not failed; He has not forgotten to be merciful or compassionate; and we are called to remember His mighty deeds (Psalm 77). CONJUNCTION: The Christmas Star of 2020 is inspired by these particulars. For the music, I looked to Gustav Holst’s The Planets for themes that would portray Jupiter and Saturn’s pas de deux. I selected several motives from the corresponding movements mixed and matched in sometimes easily recognized quotations and other times in heavily camouflaged derivations. An exuberant polyphonic passage recaps themes from both Jupiter and Saturn when the music resolves from uncertainty into hopefulness. While Holst’s motives provide CONJUNCTION’s foundation I also used Handel’s Messiah for transitory and climactic material. You will hear his The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light in transitions and a short trombone solo. And a re-harmonization of the opening line from For unto us a child is born brings the music to a joyous climax.Although the music stands firmly on its own, I elected to incorporate some narrative to make the musical sentiment explicit. In a commentary on 2020’s grim events, I took adaptations of Habakkuk 1:2-4 and 2 Tim 3:1-4 and set them over Saturn’s plodding and ominous harmonies. Contrasting replies shimmer with hope as the narration melds Isaiah 9:2 and Luke 1:78-79 over another Saturn motive set against pitch sets from Jupiter’s main hymn theme. Still, it’s the music that tells the story of the Christmas Star of 2020.Please visit my website for a complete score preview: https://wheatmyermusic.com/conjunction-the-christmas-star-of-2020I feel somewhat guilty making claim to this music as almost all the building blocks are taken from other composers. But the end result is neither a medley, nor an arrangement, rather it is something clearly new, so I call it my own with deep respect to those giants on whose shoulders I stand.Robert MyersS.D.G.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802635 Composed by Julian Jordan. Arranged by Geo H Farnell & Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 6 pages. Peet du Toit #6072419. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802635). Julian Jordan (November 10, 1850 – October 13, 1929) was an American composer, vocal instructor and singer. He worked with Willis Woodward & Co., a publisher in New York City's Tin Pan Alley. In 1887, he wrote his most successful composition, The Song That Reached My Heart. The Song That Reached My HeartMr. Jordan tells the following story of how he came to write The Song that Reached My Heart. Mr. Sayres, manager of the minstrel company, chanced to hear at one of the New York theaters a song entitled The Song for Me, which introduced Home! Sweet Home! as a finish. The following day Mr. Sayres and I met. He spoke of the song he had heard and said that he would like to have me get it for use in this minstrel company. Naturally I objected to taking the composition of another man, being a song writer myself, and so I told Mr. Sayres that if he was desirous of having a song which would introducethe melody of Home, Sweet Home I believed that I could compose one which would be as effective as theone he wished me to obtain. The idea was favorable to him, and Mr. Sayres at once suggested as a title for the song that I was to compose, The Song That Reached My Heart. Take that for a title and go home and see what you can make of it are the words Mr. Sayres used. I went  home and the possessors of 100,000 copies of the song today know what I made of it. Willis Woodward, the song'spublisher, regarded the piece to be one of the most lasting and profitable hits in his long career.[Julian's twin brother, Jules Jordan, was also a composer and singer. Here's my contribution with a transcription of this beautiful composition for a brass quartet.

Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.879895 By Justin Cody. By Justin Cody. Arranged by Justin Cody. Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Individual part. 7 pages. Justin Cody #486261. Published by Justin Cody (A0.879895). When I began writing Breathe, I was really learning how to connect my breath to movement while practicing Yoga with Adrienne's 30-day yoga journey (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpWa4LtKe4c) I was fascinated by how she seemingly slowed the world down for me by asking me to focus on the in and out breath while going through the movements. I was drawn to this meditative practice and was compelled to put this into practice at the piano. I've always been into connecting breath to music, but this was in a different more intentional way. I've always felt that pianists should have more training on connecting their breath to playing. It's too easy for pianists to miss the connection between playing and breath. So I sat down one day and just had this idea of creating a technical exercise for the pianist where not only is the music notated but the breath as well in a way that teaches you how to use your breathe to enhance the music you are playing.

Guitar - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4308 Composed by Giorgio Mirto. Score. 24 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4308. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4308). Following a recent experience on the jury of a guitar competition, I noted with great pleasure that Giorgio Mirto, with whom I had shared the role of juror, wanted to celebrate the experience of the competition - during from which we discovered that we had had a great affinity of thought - with something which could endure over time and not evaporate as often happens in short and occasional meetings between musicians. He did it as a true composer, which he is, and dedicated to me a very beautifully crafted Suite to which I allowed myself to collaborate at least formally, by suggesting titles for the four movements. This is how Suite n.1 was born, a piece that does not strictly respect the formal rules of the Baroque era, but reinterprets and reuses them in a new key. The work's obvious late Baroque inspiration led me to find titles that invited the performer to delve deeper into the work's aesthetic inspiration. So I suggested to Giorgio that he title the four movements with something that linked their content to four greats of the 18th century. German masters. The prelude has thus become from Eisenach because of its sometimes improvised Bach-like atmosphere, the second movement, vaguely toccata, speaks an organ language in the manner of Buxtehude (who lived in Lübeck), the slow movement has a Handelian quality - and Handel was born in Halle - and the last movement, far from being a true Chaconne, undoubtedly has the latter's taste for variation and ostinato, typical traits of Telemann who lived in Magdeburg. The cities that appear in the titles are therefore indelible to the authors cited. Furthermore, one should not think that the style of the work is in any way German, given that Giorgio Mirto expresses himself in a very joyful language that synthesizes modality with minimalism, all seasoned with a a nod to Pink's progressive rock Floyd. or a Mike Oldfield... The result of this mixture of ideas, inspirations and styles is a work that personally I never tire of reading and rereading, for the freshness that emanates from it and for the climate expressive which rises, nourishing itself with full efficiency. We ultimately cannot ignore that the note B, the one which marks in a minor way some of the most expressive works of the guitar repertoire, from the study of Sor which made generations of students fall in love with the guitar, until to that of Frank Martin's Four Pieces via La Catedral di Barrios, is the modal fulcrum of the entire Suite: it is true that the Prelude begins with a clear chord in E minor and lingers on an open ending in A minor , but it almost seems that the initial E serves as a launching pad for a continuation of the work in which the dominant, that is to say the B, is the true musical North, the pole star which guides us in the other three movements until the end of the Chaconne de Magdebourg. I wish Giorgio and our Suite great longevity and a favorable destiny in the complex and complex world of contemporary guitar composition.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1019364 Composed by Kevin Longley. Christian,Easter,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Kevin Longley #6322997. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1019364). Living, Springs Of Living Water Church Anthem for SATB and Piano composed in 2014. Inspiration While attending Easter Church Service in 2014 I suddenly got the idea for this piece. Throughout the service I kept humming the melody to myself so I wouldn't forget it. By the time I got home I had the entire piece worked out. I quickly wrote it down and within a couple of weeks had the basic structure created. It's rare that this occurs for me but is a testament to the inspiration of God during Easter. The style of the music is somewhat impressionistic with a flowing nature that brings peace to the listener. The lyrics are all biblical; slightly modified. The Music Impressionistic in nature it starts with a gently flowing accompaniment followed by unison voices quietly speaking of the Living Water. After the initial A section the accompaniment changes into a more static but moving style as the lyrics speak to our belief and our needs. This is followed by a dramatic transition to the opening theme now embellished with a sort of question answer back and forth between the words Living and Water with the answer always resolving to the latter word. The piece quietly ends as it began. I will always remember the Easter of 2014 for Gods inspiration that created this piece.

I hope you also are blessed by this song and arrangement! Also available, by searching Stacey Plays Hymns and the song title on this site, are the following versions:Piano and Vocal in E Minor for easier playing [vocal range A3-A4]Piano and Vocal in F Minor to match the original recording [vocal range Bb3-Bb4]Lead Sheet Version in F Minor [vocal range Bb3-Bb4] [as well as more detailed chords]Lead Sheet Version in E Minor for easier playing [vocal range A3-A4]For other formats including large print, different vocal ranges, or extended choral SATB versions, please write me at staceyplayshymns@gmail.com and I'll be glad to make them especially for you.
