It features several contrapuntal sections at the beginning (part II), end (parts VIII and IX) and interlude (part IV), aimed to imitate the instrumental performance. It’s not a challenging arrangement, but should some of these parts be complicated for the choir, they can be skipped safely.This arrangement only comprises lyrics from part IV, excluding part VII for the sake of brevity and simplicity.Commissioned by Coro da Rá, a choir specialized in jazz and Brazilian music. I tend to cope with my anxieties with a jocular nature.

I improvised this gentle piece first for the Communion of the memorial service of Lithuanian journalist Rokas Zilinskas on June 10, 2017 at Vilnius University St John's church .hen I came back home and started to transcribe it to the Sibelius notation software from this video. Although the tempo is rather slow, the process was painstakingly difficult. So I decided to improvise it fresh, this time straight to the Sibelius.What came out was a shorter version (ca. 5 minutes of duration) gentle piece suitable for Communion or recital. I dedicate it to Dr. Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra, organist, improviser, composer, pedagogue, mentor, friend.The soft strings remind me of Angels flapping their wings. The dialogue between two flutes is like two Seraphims talking to each other in thought. The dark 16' and 8' chord combination give a glimpse of mysteries invisible above the clouds in the dusk.7 pages. PDF score. Intermediate level.Let me know if you'll enjoy playing it!

I added new shape to individual lines, altered phrasing, elaborated rhythms, and in true Beethoven style added more dynamic markings. The mood and meaning are now stunningly portrayed through music alone. Die Ehres Gottes is full of joyous majesty and wonder. It has been made into a popular anthem and hymn under the title The Heavens Are Telling.

By 1945 there were over forty musical settings of the text.I’m familiar with two of those melodies. We church musicians refer to them as The one almost everyone knows and likes and The one almost no one knows or likes. I happen to like both of them, so I included both of them in this piece.It’s a waltz, first on the more familiar MUELLER tune, then slowing down for CRADLE SONG. The final section combines the two. I hope you enjoy playing it.
