Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955736 Composed by Phil Thrift. Instructional,Jazz. Score and parts. 62 pages. Phil Thrift #6037863. Published by Phil Thrift (A0.955736). Heading Home is a new, easy swing number for junior big band. This was originally a song and so essentially has a verse-refrain form. All the sections have something to do and there are short solos for the lead players. A tempo range is suggested so that bands with different abilities will be able to attempt this piece.Following the intro, which uses the refrain, the main theme is stated by unison saxes. The brass enter in the continuation of the main theme, with the saxes now in harmony. Unison trumpets then play the refrain and that is followed by the first solo section, which is cued in the lead alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, and trombone parts as well as the optional flute. A solo is suggested but the chords are included so that players can try out their own ideas. This section is followed by a brief bridge passage played by the trombones and lower saxes. After that we hear the second part of the main theme again, which is followed by unison trumpets playing the refrain and another short solo section. At the change of key, the trombones and lower saxes take over the main theme at first. Following the final refrain, the outro with its walking bass, cross-stick now added to the rhythm, and syncopated accompaniment beneath a sax or flute solo ensures that this piece really is heading home, although it concludes on a quiet note. The actual notes of these charts are easy, but this piece still demands full concentration and that tight playing so crucial to the big band sound. Unison passages will test intonation. For players new to swing, I hope it will help them to become familiar with this style of music.

Concert Band - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1369852 By The Vince Guaraldi Trio. By Vince Guaraldi. Arranged by John PW Hudson. Children,Christmas,Contest,Festival,Film/TV,Jazz. 44 pages. 'Published by John P.W. Hudson #954221. Published by 'Published by John P.W. Hudson (A0.1369852). This unforgettable Peanuts tune from 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' was composed by Vince Guaraldi in 1965. What is remarkable is that the melody is only three notes, (yet is so catchy), so when I was looking for three note melodies to arrange for my beginning band students, this was a standout. By their first Christmas concert they were able to play it! The piano part is necessarily more challenging, but like choral music, the piano parts often are. So, call this flex music or mixed abilty music, either way this is a real crowd pleaser!  Bands at any higher level can practically sight read this, so a quick rehearsal or two can add a fun experience for players and audience alike! Enjoy!

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.961560 Composed by Olly Wedgwood. Concert,Jazz,Standards. Score. 3 pages. OllysPianoSheets #5335091. Published by OllysPianoSheets (A0.961560). Friends shouldn't just hang out in fair weather, so here is All Weather Friends, a gentle swing waltz ideal for established intermediate players at about the Grade 4-5 standard (ABRSM).The melody and accompaniment is based upon a classic jazz waltz rhythm, so to get into the feel of this piece, you may find it useful to first practice clapping this rhythm:Remember that the quaver eighth notes are swung. The trick with this piece is to let the melody sing out above the jazz waltz accompaniment, so keep an ear on the melody at all times. In bar 21, the semiquaver 16th notes can be played a little faster than written, which will create more of a 'turn' ornament. Have a listen to the performance recording clip (above) at about halfway through to get the idea. This jazz waltz piano sheet music provides excellent practice for working on phrasing and sustain pedal technique. Occasionally, you may find a couple of hand position changes that risk disrupting the flow of the melodic phrase. In these instances, try a touch of sustain pedal to smooth out the transition. An example of this can be found in bar 31.After the repeated opening melody, the middle section moves into the key of G minor, featuring a rising arpeggio-based accompaniment with sustain pedal. There is a lot of quaver eighth-note movement in this section, so be sure to keep this rhythm smoothly swinging in the usual triplet manner:This middle section reaches a crescendo at bar 37 with a rippling chord effect between both hands. Try experimenting with different ways of splitting up these chords - you could ripple up from the left hand to the right hand, or try rippling both hands at the same time. Stick with whatever sounds good to you! After a poco rall the original melody returns via a D.C. al Coda. As is the convention for first and second time repeat bars, take the second time bar on the D.C. and then to the Coda. The play-along MP3 backing track for this sheet music is also available to download at Sheet Music Plus.Explore more fun piano sheet music by Olly Wedgwood at https://OllysPianoSheets.com I hope you enjoy All Weather Friends, whatever the weather!

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.906214 Composed by Markus Hallikainen. Contemporary,Instructional. Score and parts. 17 pages. Markus Hallikainen #6514385. Published by Markus Hallikainen (A0.906214). A fun piece for students! Young students often wish to play fast, but especially cello ensemble works often lack suitable material, being either too difficult or too easy. This piece gives opportunity of different level players to try ensemble playing FAST! And as in tornado, there is the eye of the storm, so in this piece there is also a calm section in the middle. We should always let students try new things and encourage them to try their limits, reach for the stars so to say. Chamber music is important, and it should be from early stages already. I tried to compose this piece so that everyone has something: moving notes, melodic lines etc. Sometimes students feel put down if they only accompany, even if it is of course important skill to learn. This piece is designed so that everyone feels they are involved actively. There is also some rhythmical elements that help to keep it in control. Lets encourage the 4th cello too! Enjoy! The set includes score and partsmore information of myself: www.markushallikainen.com

Drum Set,Electric Bass Guitar,Piano Accompaniment,Synthesizer - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1105114 By David Kai. By David Kai. Arranged by David Kai. Christian,Contemporary,Jazz,Rock. Full Performance. Duration 199. David Kai #708361. Published by David Kai (A0.1105114). The title for this song came from a plaque that I saw in a Christian book store. Jesus’ teachings about prayer from Matthew 7 or Luke 11 were also an inspiration. This song was first recorded by the Sellwoods gospel group. Seven Days Without Prayer words and music by David Kai ©1980 It’s a world where we depend on communication Through the wires and through the air information flows It’s an age where thoughts and words can cross the ocean It’s a shrinking world, but the space between us grows Though we talk to one another, there’s something missing We still need to speak from the soul, not just the mind We still need the oldest form of communication It’s available for free at any time The lines are open, why not send in a call? The Lord is waiting, just to hear from you all So just take some time for praying, God would love to hear you speak You know seven days without prayer makes one weak If a child should ask its father for bread and fishes Would that child receive a stone or a snake in its place? No, and if even earthly fathers will bless their children Won’t the heavenly Father bless and give you grace? So if you knock upon the door it will be opened If you speak unto the Lord you will be heard Look to Jesus, you will not be disappointed You will find he’s always faithful to his word The lines are open, why not send in a call? The Lord is waiting, just to hear from you all So just take some time for praying, God would love to hear you speak You know seven days without prayer makes one weak The lines are open, why not send in a call? The Lord is waiting, just to hear from you all So just take some time for praying, God would love to hear you speak You know seven days without prayer makes one weak Makes one weak.

Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1245199 By Various. By Anonymous, Claude Gervaise, Henry VIII, Jacotin, Jacques (Jacob) Arcadelt, Jan de Lublin, John Dowland, Ludwig Senfl, Michael Praetorius, Pierre Attaignanant, Pierre Bonnet, and Tielman Susato. Arranged by Alastair Lodge. Classical,Early Music,Historic,Medieval,Renaissance. 43 pages. Wold Meridian #840108. Published by Wold Meridian (A0.1245199). This is a companion to my earlier volume Chording to Consort which presented 35 Renaissance Dance band tunes and Chansons and arranged them as a single melody line with chords derived from the original harmony lines. In this volume I have reunited the remaining 17 of the pieces with the lower parts in the score, so that with more collaborators, the fullness of the original arrangement can be heard. The chords are still present, so if the ensemble is short handed, and lines are missing, the arrangements will still work. What is more, by contrasting the melody and chords with the full scoring, it should be possible to work some light and shade into performances.  You can hear all the pieces and their chords on YouTube together with contemporary art and historical background material:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYRWH2nycMkPO9vTOgEoG_kRJlJ5nUHnxComposers and printers of this time would often use note values that are double the length of those we would be used to seeing today, and so to make this version more readable, breves have become semibreves or whole notes, semibreves have become minims or half notes and so on.Working with this publicationFor those just starting out in Early Music, the volume is an ideal introduction, since the ensemble can build from a soloist with accompaniment with the chords alone, and parts can be added in as additional musicians become available. Instrumentation for these pieces was not specified in the original prints. The range of each part is quite limited, and though the harmonies may seem strange at times, key signatures are kind to the less experienced musician. If enthusiasm takes hold, then reproductions of early music instruments are sold by some very talented makers, as well as coming up on auction sites. Otherwise, it is possible to put together a fairly convincing ensemble with recorders, violins, a cello and mandolins, bouzoukis, flutes or guitars and gradually introduce the authentic instruments as they become available.

It was digitally produced.I love to play violin but learning can be challenging. So much of the learn to play music is either really simple, too advanced or vast collections of scale exercises. I have written exercises which sound melodic and also help practice various skills. These 10 violin studies are intermediate level and fun to play. They are not just groups of notes put together. There are bowing and fingering indications. Your download includes the violin studies and the piano scores.*If you are purchasing this eBook on Sheet Music Plus, you can visit my website to download the free set of play-along mp3s. Visit blevinsmusic.com and find Violin Studies on the navigation menu. This is Book One of two books of 10 intermediate, melodic studies. Each study can be played alone, with an accompanist or with the optional piano play-along tracks. The mp3s were recorded in strict time, for ease of playing along. If you play the pieces alone or with a live accompanist, feel free to give them your own interpretations. These studies help you practice your bowing, your rhythm, your note reading, fingering and scale evenness. Playing with the optional accompaniments helps you hear intonation and gives you experience playing in an ensemble, whether your partner is a live accompanist or just your mp3 player.  There are two mp3s available for each study:  1. A piano play-along track in a slower tempo;  2. The same piano play-along track, but more up-tempo, for when you have learned a piece, or want to challenge yourself. Each study includes a piano cue at the beginning, so you know when to start playing if you’re playing with a play-along track or with a pianist. Woodwind Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1111408 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 28 pages. Regis Bookshar #713695. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1111408). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Woodwind Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Woodwind Sextet, consisting of 2 Flutes, 1 Oboe, 1 Bb Clarinet, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, and also to give them the chance to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (28 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Woodwind Sextet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.
