Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813818 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6487289. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813818). O Spirit All-Embracing (Thaxted) (Bb) (Woodwind Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of O Spirit All-Embracing, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All-Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Woodwind Quintet, consisting of 1 Flute (which has the lead), 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of O Spirit All-Embracing based on the Andante Maestoso section fro.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1225387 Composed by Dave Kenney. Arranged by Dave Kenney. 21st Century,Classical,Jazz. Score and Parts. 23 pages. Davekenneymusic #821463. Published by davekenneymusic (A0.1225387). My energetic saxophone quartet (soprano, alto, tenor and baritone),â€All In†is a jazz piece that was inspired by Jimmy Giuffre’s  “Four Brothers†and all of the other great big band arrangers.   From them I learned so much about writing for the saxophone quartet in particular block chording. Further I did not score it for 3 tenors (or 1 alto 2 tenors) and bari and did not use the chord changes to Jeepers Creepers. I did enjoy creating colorful counterpoint and harmonies and tried to keep it in a light style like the Four Brothers recording.   While I did not include any improvisation it could be added perhaps using the chords from Jeepers Creepers.  All of this should make for challenging but enjoyable playing.  Note: all parts and the score are transposed in one pdf file. trt: 2’ 24 “ this work is: copyright 2023davekenneymusic I would love to get comments from you.Be Well Dave Kenneydavekenneymusic@gmail.com

Score. 13 pages. Stephen R Dalrymple #3560505. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818251). You Can’t Get Even ♫ Original song by Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ (‘Songs That Teach’ collection) ♫ [teaches conflict resolution strategies] ♫ As a playground attendant in a K-8 school, there were hundreds of times when children approached me to report a problem with another child. I would always make the 2 children to speak to each other instead of tell me what happened. If I only listened to one or the other, I seldom heard the truth (or the whole truth.) Many of the arguments started, not on the playground, but 2 hours, or 2 days, or 2 weeks before the incident. It is never possible to actually get even, since none of us can gauge the physical or emotional pain the other person feels, plus conflicts seldom start and are immediately finished. Since I had almost every student in the school attend my general music classes, I wrote a song to address the problem. ♫ music © 2013 (copyright registered in 'Songs that Teach’ collection) ♫ recording ℗ 2021 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ presentation © 2022 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ sequenced by the composer ♫ This .pdf file includes 4 files: 1) Letter size lead sheet, 2) letter size piano score, 3) Small page lead sheet for performing from a 10 inch tablet, 4) Small page piano score for performing from a 10 inch tablet. This is an Irish traditional tune. It is claimed O'Carolan wrote it but it is based on an old Irish air so it may not have been just him who wrote it. I have played this tune in many different arrangements and keys but I quite like this one. It has suggested fingering written in. This tune can be learned by any harpist of intermediate standard with a lever harp . From grade 3 upwards. If another key is desired I can upload it as well. When I upload more tunes I fully intend to sell 3 tunes for the price of 2 if that is possible. This tune can also be played on the piano with different fingering.

Published by Ron Baptiste (A0.1033971). Watching reports of the ongoing war in Ukraine, it's impossible not to be affected emotionally; innocent civilians being killed is always heartbreaking, and so senseless. The older I get, the less optimistic I become as to the future of the human race. I find it unfathomable that after millenia of evolution, and the development of better methods of cooperation between nations, there are still throwbacks like Putin who are quite willing to resort to the use of force to get their way. Politics aside, I felt compelled to write something that expresses the sadness I feel for the Ukrainian people - for their losses, and the random destruction taking place in their Country.

If Not Now, When? gets its title from the novel by Primo Levi, the Italian author who both survived life in Auschwitz and fought the continued German military presence in Italy with the Resistance after the Italian surrender to the Allies in September 1943. Levi meant that revolution and the overthrow of tyranny should never be 'put off until tomorrow'. If you believe you are on the side of right, then 'seize the day'- tomorrow may be too late. The inspiration for INNW? grew from research I was doing into an early song by Alban Berg called An Leukon which Berg wrote in 1907 while a student of Arnold Schoenberg. In delving into the kind of world which Berg inhabited in the Vienna of 100 years ago, I was fascinated by the café culture* which played a pivotal role in the lives of most artists: not only composers, but also writers, painters, architects and journalists. They swirled around the fashionable 'watering holes' sucking up current thoughts and ideas, high on Viennese coffee, cigar smoke and idealism! I envisaged a play which tried to encapsulate all this and wrote a few scenes with characters such as Schoenberg, Berg, Webern, Steuermann, Pisk, Kraus, Gropius and Altenberg heatedly discussing music, art and poetry over large cups of milky coffee. This grew into the framework for INNW? which, to paraphrase Pirandello's play about characters seeking an author, is a 'play without words in several scenes'. The piece is organised into 8 short movements or 'scenes' showing the 'Schoenberg cirle' sharing their radical and daring ideas and the shock or delight (or both simultaneously) with which those ideas are greeted. The first, which happens to be the longest, is rooted in conventional tonality. It begins with a fanfare in D flat major ('aux armes, citoyens!'), then seeks a 'freer' tonality by means of the 'emancipation of the semitone' only to capitulate in the central section and, finally, to 'fall back to earth' by winding down in G sharp minor. These 'scenes' are not meant to represent particular composers. They are, however, meant to represent the kinds of directions in which music could progress, given the 'breakdown' or 'stretching to its limits' of traditional harmony which had occurred in the previous 10 to 20 years. So many ways forward were promulgated, with one after another extraordinary, and often unexpected, futuristic musical panoramas glimpsed momentarily. My aim is to demonstrate which directions they decided they could head in having cleared the 'overgrown' path before them. * I even discovered that, around this time, in the Café Central, a certain Leon (Lev) Bronstein, otherwise known as Leon Trotsky, banished by the Okhrana (Imperial secrect police) from his native Russia, would spend all day in a back room playing chess. How delicious, I thought, if Schoenberg had ever brushed passed Trotsky or, indeed, had ever spoken to him: the one planning political and the other musical revolution!

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813732 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards,Wedding. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6474755. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813732). O God, Beyond All Praising (Thaxted) (Bb) (Brass Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of O God, Beyond All Praising, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone (which has the lead) and 1 Tuba, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of O God, Beyond All Praising based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the B.

Baritone voice and piano - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8826-1E Composed by Gwyneth W. Walker. African American Heritage. 6 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8826-1E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8826-1E). English.I’ve Known Rivers is a multi-movement work, comprised of songs based on four different poems by Langston Hughes (1902–1967). Though he lived much of his life in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City, Hughes was born in Missouri and raised in Kansas, Illinois, and Ohio. At age seventeen, he traveled to Mexico to live with his estranged father. As he crossed the Mississippi River, he was inspired to write The Negro Speaks of Rivers, which begins “I’ve known rivers….,†and is the text for the first movement, “My Soul Has Grown Deep.†It reflects upon rivers of historic and geographical importance—the Euphrates, Congo, Nile, and Mississippi. As the rivers have endured over time, so has the human soul. The waters—the blood—runs deep.In contrast to the universal message of the first song, “Troubled Water,†which uses the poetry of the same title, is contemporary and personal. Water becomes an image of the unsettled and uncertain nature of love. The journey of love is a journey of troubled water. There is no resolution.Undaunted by the elusive nature of love, the poet, heard via the chorus, turns flippant, displaying a persevering and humorous outlook in “Jump Right In!†(to the river) from Hughes’ poem Life is Fine. Romantic misadventures will not conquer the spirit. “I could’ve died for love, but for livin’ I was born.â€â€œIn time of silver rain,†once more using the poem of the same title, is a song of healing. With the regeneration of spring, the poet marvels at the wonder of life.Though intended to be performed as the complete multi-movement work I’ve Known Rivers, each song may be performed separately. Duration: 12:00.Contents:My Soul has Grown DeepTroubled WaterJump Right In!In Time of Silver Rain.
