This work probably intended for the „Feldharmonie (military wind band) of Prince Esterhàzy has been scored for oboes, horns, clarinets and bassoons. In this edition, a piano score has been added to the score as a helpful means for studying and rehearsing. The individual horn parts are included both in the original version in Bb and in a simplified version in F. For wind bands an entertaining study and performance piece in four movements which is not very difficult.

The composer's inspiration for this piece came from his visit to India in the summer of 2012. With vivid musical imagery, there is ample opportunity for soloistic performance combined with characteristic energetic drive. The French composer Jean Françaix arranged Mozart's Quintet in E flat major for four wind instruments and piano in 1995. He maintained the original parts for oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon, yet transcribed the piano part for a string quartet and a double-bass. Mozart's complex piano quintet from 1784 is one of the most important contributions to the genre of quintet for piano and wind instruments. The brilliant transcription of the solemn and sometimes sparkling piano part for the string parts by Françaix is another proof of his lifelong admiration and study of Mozart. The clever arrangement of this work, so full of intensity and depth, for larger chamber music ensemble has already been performed at various festivals and is now available as a printed edition for the first time.
