Put on you alpaca!  This organ solo Christmas winter arrangement takes this hymn through a raging wind storm.  Really!  By putting melody on great flute 8' with no volume fluxuation and the left hand constant moving tritone using Gedeckt 8', the organist has to experiment with increasing then decreasing unpredictable and violent volume changes to achieve the realism of a major wind storm.  Truly, it will become a bleak mid-winter.  I have used it as an offertory last year and will be using it somewhere this Christmas season.  The wind storm makes this a very unique piece, not the standard worship service piece.  Easy to play as it uses no pedal tones, the challenge is extensive use of the swell pedal for only the accompaniment with flute on great the steady volume.  Tune name:  Cranham.

Obwohl Partch dieses Stück erst 1952 beendete, arbeitete er schon seit 1949 daran, wobei er jeweils verschiedene Titel benutzte. Zur ersten Fassung Tonality Flux sind keine Entwürfe überliefert; die zweite Fassung unter dem Titel Sonata Dementia wurde 1951 eingespielt.
