Bass Guitar TAB - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1478341 By Tracy Dean McCallum. By Tracy Dean McCallum. Arranged by Tracy Dean McCallum. 20th Century,Jazz,Rock. Score. 1 pages. Tracy Dean McCallum #1055722. Published by Tracy Dean McCallum (A0.1478341). https://tracymccallum.com/Larry Duncan: This bassline throws down a rhythmic gauntlet. It likely doesn't settle for a simple root note on every beat. Here are some potential rhythmic complexities it might explore:Polyrhythms: Imagine two or three different rhythmic ideas happening simultaneously within the bassline. This could involve playing notes in triplets or quintuplets against a steady underlying beat.Syncopation: The groove might emphasize the off-beats – the spaces between the main downbeats – creating a sense of surprise and anticipation.Hemiola: This technique creates a sense of rhythmic ambiguity by playing a 3-over-4 pattern (three notes in the space of four beats). It can make the listener feel like the time signature is constantly shifting.Ghost Notes: These are lightly played notes that add rhythmic tension and detail without fully sounding out.Feel and Genre: While the rhythm is complex, Larry Duncan likely still lays down a solid groove. Depending on the genre, it could feel:Funky: Think of slapping and popping techniques with a focus on creating a pocket for the drummer to lock into.Fusion: The bassline might weave between complex jazz-inspired rhythms and driving rock feels.Progressive Rock: Imagine a bassline that mirrors the genre's adventurous spirit, constantly evolving and surprising the listener.Overall, Larry Duncan is a bassline for the adventurous player and listener. Its complex rhythms keep you guessing while still laying down a groove that makes you move.

String Quartet Cello,Double Bass,Piano,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1376321 By Heidi Savoie. By Heidi Savoie. Arranged by Heidi Savoie. Classical,Contemporary,Jazz,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. 15 pages. Heidi Savoie #960865. Published by Heidi Savoie (A0.1376321). This score is an arrangement for piano, violin I and II, viola, cello, bass with optional drums.Backstory: Years ago I wrote a simple piano piece for my students. As instrumental music can fully exist outside the confines of words, it can be difficult to find the right title for something that is pure sound and possibility. I took inspiration from the time of year in which I had composed it and stamped it, “Almost Mayâ€. Like springtime in the Northern Hemisphere, “Almost May†unfolds slowly and majestically, with ever-evolving layers for the senses to discover. What to listen for: ThemeThe main theme is first presented by the piano with minimal fanfare. This part was written to be easy enough for a child, which despite being sparing of notes, delivers rich harmonic content. Every note has been carefully curated for the optimal combination of accessibility and depth. Weaving chromatically into distantly-related keys, the melody takes small steps into contrasting musical spaces. In a wordless procession, the storyline plays out, as if the theme discovers that someone very different lives next door, and they slowly become inseparable. The piano is accompanied by an airy touch of brushes against a snare drum, like the pitter patter of soft feline steps. In the low frequency range, the upright bass supports and deepens the tonal palette with its earthy underpinnings. What to listen for: Variation I The unmistakable string section arrives like a breath of warm air. Lush, warm and reassuring like sunshine on your cheeks, the string parts begin with long tones. This broadness and stability will evolve into more layers of complexity throughout the section. While the role of the string section is background accompaniment, it undergoes textural changes which allow for some layers to briefly rise to the forefront as melody. Careful listening to the string parts will reveal an oceanic churning, a motion from background to foreground with expansions and contractions along the way. Floating overtop this density is the improvised piano solo, with ascending gestures that progress in detail and density. Each instrument enters a general unfolding and growth period in the first variation. The bass and drums include more fills than before, as the ensemble tends gradually toward more grandeur. What to listen for: Variation II The final variation opens with a decadent treatment of the melody. What was initially expressed by a soloist as a childlike plea is reimagined as a two-part conversation between the piano and lead viola. The obbligato voiced in the viola is a derivation of the melody that holds the space between phrases so the listener's attention is passed seamlessly between the piano and viola part. This dialogue features commentary on the original melody in the form of ornamentation and taking surprising pathways to expected destinations. The rhythm section (bass and drums) takes more liberties in creating a verdant soundscape as the ensemble rises to a final climax. Credits: I would like to thank Cole Canaday for the nuance, imagination and depth of understanding with which he brought this piece to life. I would also like to thank Blake Hamilton and Anastace for providing invaluable audio engineering feedback.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.707952 Composed by Lowell Mason. Arranged by Kristine Johanek. Easter,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Kristine Johanek #3436477. Published by Kristine Johanek (A0.707952). 'When I Survey the Wondrous Cross' is an excellent choice for any time in the Christian Liturgical year, but is especially appropriate for Lent and Holy Week. This arrangement uses a basic 2 octave set of handbells, tone chimes, hand chimes or belle plates. Beginning simply and building to a triumphant finish, it is three and a half minutes of inspiring music! This piece uses 22 bells, and would work for a small intermediate ensemble (8 or 9 member group who can switch out bells during key changes) or would be an excellent piece for a larger beginning group, where the stately tempo can help build strong ringing skills. It has been published using large print, to facilitate reading in darkened spaces. This is a reproducible product. This piece may be purchased as a score for one performing group, and copies made for the members of that one performing group. Save money and space while allowing for more flexibility in annotating from year to year.

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.762291 Composed by Lori Cummings. Children,Instructional. Score. 2 pages. Lori Cummings #3530755. Published by Lori Cummings (A0.762291). Dog Food... I hope that caught your attention!  Just like the Cows Eat Grass song was to help beginner students to learn the spaces of  C Position in the bass clef, Dog Food is designed to help remember the two lines in that position: D and F! I found that teaching the lines of the bass clef as Good Boys Deserve Fudge Always was always being confused with Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge.  So with the help of some of my first students, we came up with the saying, Grandma Buys Dog Food Always because Grandma's puppy needs to be fed and Grandpa is out tending the cows (who eat grass!).  So the lines we use in C Position are Dog and Food.  Just as in Cows Eat Grass we had visual cues in each space, Dog Food uses a picture of a dog and a picture of his food for each note.  Students have great fun with the different combination of notes and rhythms and will have an easy time remembering the names of these two lines.

Small Ensemble B-Flat Clarinet,Bass Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028052 Composed by Sarah Hersh. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 59 pages. Burbury Lane Music #3368591. Published by Burbury Lane Music (A0.1028052). River Music is a fun and accessible piece that has received much positive feedback in the clarinet world and has been performed many times, including at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest. It is an approximately 8 minute piece for two Bb clarinets and bass clarinet that would be equally at home on an environmental-themed concert or any other type of program. It is a relatively advanced piece but has been performed by high school students. River Music was written for Clarinets for Conservation.Program Note: River Music was inspired by my time one summer spent on the Chattahoochee River and at the Chattahoochee Nature Center near Atlanta, Georgia. I have always had a connection to bodies of water, having spent many summers and weekends at the lake by my grandparents’ house in New York. While sometimes I feel like an outsider as a New Yorker living in the South, as soon as I got on the river, canoeing down the Chattahoochee, I felt at home again. Something about the river reminds me of my childhood on Lake Peekskill, and River Music was partially inspired by that connection.Once I started writing the piece, it took on a life of its own, as water and nature (and composing) often does. One reason I’ve always felt strongly about environmentalism and protecting our natural environment is that all of it – the trees, the earth, the rivers, the lakes – has been here long before we came along and started messing it up, and it will (hopefully) be here long after we’re gone, as long as we make sure to protect these natural spaces and wilderness areas. I often think about how much trees have seen, and as I wrote this piece I started thinking about how much the river has seen too. I hear stories in River Music, and to me it’s the river telling us some, though certainly nowhere near all, of its stories.Perhaps River Music will take you, the listener, on a journey down the river-not just through space, but through time. You might hear some of the same stories I hear. Or you may not. Part of the beauty of writing a piece inspired by a river is that I hope you hear in it whatever the river means to you.Note: The sheet music includes a score, regular set of parts, and a bonus set of parts that include a partial score underneath the main part. The composer is a member of ASCAP and may be reached at www.sarahhersh.com or sarahhershcomposer@gmail.com.
