Like his other ballets, Sleeping Beauty was slow to gain popularity with the public and international recognition only came after Tchaikovsky’s death. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The melody is expressive and legato; Both parts require dramatic dynamic contrasts and both parts explore a wide range of the instrument. The overall performance time is around five minutes. It is a mash-up of several traditional Christmas carols, Good King Wenceslas, Jingle Bell, Jolly Ol' St. Nicolas, Deck the Halls, Coventry Carol and We Wish you a Merry Christmas. In the middle of the piece, each string section plays a different melody at the same time. Under all that noise a solo cello will start to play The Coventry Carol and after a while, everyone stops and listens to the cello's melody. Eventually, everyone all joins in playing that tune. And it ends with We Wish You A Merry Christmas. This is a great piece for your Winter Concert.

Good Christian Men, Rejoice (IN DULCI JUBILO) contrasts the joyous pealing of bells with a slower, lyrical middle section. The organ parts are registered for a modest organ, but the creative organist will want to experiment using the additional colors of a larger instrument to heighten the impact of these festive arrangements.
