Brass Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031250 Composed by RLW Myers. Contemporary. Score and parts. 31 pages. Richard Myers #5191165. Published by Richard Myers (A0.1031250). Please notify me if you choose to perform this!I need to give a big thanks to Dr. Greg Danner and the Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble for the help and guidance they gave to me while working on this piece! Also thank you to anyone I tortured with the many edits and editions before this was finalized. This piece is inspired by the following stanza from Paradise Lost: Whence and what art thou, execrable shape, That dar'st, though grim and terrible, advance Thy miscreated front athwart my way To yonder gates? Through them I mean to pass, That be assured, without leave asked of thee. Retire; or taste thy folly, and learn by proof, Hell-born, not to contend with spirits of Heaven. Here we see Lucifer, even after he has fallen so far, his wings bound by adamantine chains, still view himself with pride for being filled with the light of Heaven. He challenges Death, thinking himself superior to the foul (and more powerful) being. This piece explores the arrogance and emotions that I associate with the work as a whole, but particularly in Lucifer’s ego. The MP3 given here is just the render off of staffpad. Enjoy! PS: Thanks to Charlie Hickerson for having me read Paradise Lost in my senior English class.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576188 Composed by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary,Multicultural,Opera,World. Score and Parts. 30 pages. David Warin Solomons #4573. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576188). ATON is a stage play written by Manfred Strolz and Otmar Rützler which represents Egypt in the time of the Pharoahs but seen through the eyes of modern theatre directors and actors. The modern scenes are spoken but the Egyptian scenes require music, so Manfred and Otmar asked me to write the music for these. The music is composed for various forces as the play progresses, from the full orchestra (woodwind, strings, harp, piano, timpani) and choir down to more intimate moments with single voice or duets, flute and classical guitar or with single voice and bassoon. For each section the pdf file contains score and parts and the sound sample is an electronic preview. As I write 16 sections have been composed, but more are to come - please just search for Aton in due course for the full picture. Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1120365 By Philip Le Bas. By J-B Lully / G Bizet. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. Christmas,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 8 pages. Philip Le Bas #721616. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1120365). A new arrangement by Philip Le Bas of a thirteenth century French Christmas carol from Provence harmonized by Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-87, attrib.) and, more famously, by Georges Bizet (1838-75, in his L'Arlesienne Suite of 1872.) In France the melody is still tightly associated with Christmas, and French audiences start singing their own Christmas words whenever they hear the melody (the arranger has heard it himself!) The English translation used here is adapted from a variety of sources. The three kings (or more precisely the magi from St Matthew's gospel) are seen marching towards Bethlehem with their fantastic golden wealth and grandeur. But why are they going to see a low-born baby and why do they worship this child who will die on a cross? The organ sets the scene from the beginning with its marching accompaniment, and the first verse is sung in unison by all three parts. The second begins with a canon, as used by Bizet, and then breaks into harmony. The first section of the third verse is much quieter and legato, sung by the sopranos and altos, using wonderful chromatic harmonies based on another section from Bizet's suite. The lyrics express wonder at the beautiful music heard from the camp of the kings. The second section, sung in differentiated unison then begins to wonder why the kings stoop so low to a baby in a manger. Finally the fourth verse, sung in full harmony, returns to the marching accompaniment and reiterates the amazement of meeting these kings with their mysterious mission. The carol is aimed at parish choirs with limited resources, but a good organist. The melody is well-known, much of it is in unison, and other sections are relatively easy to sing. Care should however should be taken to sing the dotted rhythms accurately - this is what gives the carol its marching character.

Piano,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587600 Composed by Jeremiah Clarke. Arranged by David McKeown. Baroque,Concert,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. 7 pages. David McKeown #4367470. Published by David McKeown (A0.587600). The Prince of Denmark’s March is better known nowadays as the Trumpet Voluntary and is often used in wedding ceremonies. It was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop.  Written around 1700, for many years this piece was mistakenly attributed to Henry Purcell. Only recently has it been established that the composer was Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. It is somewhat ironic that this composer of a wedding mainstay was himself a victim of unrequited love. He consequently shot himself in the cathedral graveyard. This full version is arranged as a Solo for Violin and Piano; the performance time is around two and a half minutes. Of course, performers, especially at weddings, may wish to abridge and shorten the arrangement. This is easily done as the different sections are self-contained and the repeat may be ignored. The single pdf file contains both the score and the solo instrumental part. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, with both the solo and accompaniment enjoying melodic interest. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with strict time, full tone and dynamics. The short sample here and the full length version on the youtube link are from the Clarinet version of this arrangement. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

Piano Trio,String Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1025083 Composed by Shawn Roney. Arranged by Phyllis Hopper. Blues,Contemporary,Praise & Worship,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and parts. 7 pages. Gregory Shawn Roney #5740247. Published by Gregory Shawn Roney (A0.1025083). Inspired by the Selena Gomez track Good For You and featured (in solo excerpt form) in the monthly podcast series Ray County Voices, this instrumental composition is the first part of a three-part piece. As piano solo performances of Sister Selena at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, have demonstrated, it works well as prelude music for liturgical church services. It also is well-suited for relaxed secular programs, such as recitals. To listen to the track, listen to the for-piano version, posted on YouTube.Because of the key signature, Sister Selena is best suited for intermediate students/ensembles. .

Cello (double bass) - easy - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q564362 Four Tunes from the Scottish Island of Sanday. Composed by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. Downloadable, Individual part. Schott Music - Digital #Q564362. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q564362). Start Point is a collection of four tunes written for the Sanday Fiddle Club. First performed in their entirety in 2006 at the St Magnus Festival, the names of the tunes are names of places on the Orkney Islands. Evocative and unassuming, the appealing character and flexibility of these works reflects their genesis. They are suited to a variety of purposes and could be played by both string quartet and string ensemble. Accessible by standard and style, to the extent that they are rooted in the community they form an illustration of Maxwell Davies’ engagement with his locality, where he has lived since the 1970s.

Tenor voice or soprano voice solo, SATB choir, organ - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.6414-E Composed by Leo Nestor. Christmas, Christmas-Sacred. Score & instrument parts. 13 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #6414-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.6414-E). Sing Lullaby was commissioned by music director Michael Batcho for the Choir of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee and composed in California during the summer of 2000. Originally scored for tenor solo, mixed chorus, oboe, French horn and violoncello obbligato and organ, an independent fabric for string orchestra was composed for a performance by the Choir of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Christmas of the same year. The setting was further developed for the debut performance of The Catholic University of America Chamber Choir and Chamber Players at the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in December of 2002. In the 2008 revision, the composer decided that the obbligato trio of clarinet, French horn and bassoon most clearly evoked the ethos of shepherds, offering optimal timbral contrast to string orchestra and chorus. Substantial emendations of the entire score were made for the present edition of Sing Lullaby, first performed by The Catholic University of America Chamber Choir, University Singers, University Chorus and Symphony Orchestra at the Annual Christmas Concert for Charity at Washington's Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on 7 December 2012 with tenor Rick Christman, the composer conducting.Variation form, long favored by composers in settings of strophic music, imparts a perception of improvisation as singers and players alter harmonies, melody and rhythm to forward the unfolding narrative. Sensitive performance will caress the natural undulation of the largely ternary meter, tapering unstressed beats at the ends of phrases while maintaining the steady flow of the accompaniment. Two editions of the work are published: (I) for mixed chorus, solo, obbligato trio and organ and (II) for mixed chorus, solo, obbligato trio, string orchestra, harp and organ. The edition for chorus and obbligato instruments adds timbral variety to a Christmas concert while employing modest instrumental means which are easily available. Although in Version II both harp and organ are scored ad libitum, the harp adds significantly to the counterpoint of the obbligato instruments, providing further rhythmic impetus and textural variety. Conceived for lyric tenor, the solo may also be sung by soprano.

SATB choir and organ - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8456-E Composed by David Hurd. Building Dedication, African American Heritage, New Year, Wedding. 15 pages. Duration 3 minutes, 20 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8456-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8456-E). English. Psalms 100.This anthem was commissioned by Dorothy Yates to mark the 50th anniversary of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, Atlanta, Georgia. The text is announced by a brief fanfare on the organ. The raised 4th scale degree of the opening theme suggests the Lydian mode and accentuates the music’s upward thrust. Following the opening fanfare, the setting passes back and forth between duple and triple meter several times. Triple and duple rhythmic elements occur simultaneously and play off of one another. In the anthem’s middle section, the rhythmic energy of the opening is exchanged for a gentle extended crescendo as voices alternately sing their four-note, stepwise, rising lines over sustained organ chords. Then, the more energetic and somewhat metrically ambiguous elements of the previous section return. Finally, the text and music heard at the anthem’s opening recur in the manner of an antiphon. Duration: 3:20.
