Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.750756 Composed by Traditional Irish Melody: Slane. Arranged by Brendan Elliget MAGA 537. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 35 pages. BJE Music #3543435. Published by BJE Music (A0.750756). Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art. Thou my best Thought, by day or by night, Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my lightBe Thou My Vision is a traditional Christian hymn, which can be traced to Ireland but is now sung in English-speaking churches around the world and is often sung around St. Patrick’s Day.The music is the Irish folk song, Slane referring to Slane Hill. Slane Hill is about ten miles from Tara in County Meath. It was on Slane Hill around 433 AD that St. Patrick defied a royal edict by lighting candles on Easter Eve. High King Logaire of Tara had decreed that no one could light a fire before Logaire began the pagan spring festival by lighting a fire on Tara Hill. Logaire was so impressed by Patrick’s devotion that, despite his defiance (or perhaps because of it), he let him continue his missionary work. The rest is history. This arrangement is for full orchestra with two changes of key. Also available for Concert Band as well. The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformerGrade = 3   Duration = 2:22 mins.

Bassoon, piano, voice - Digital Download SKU: IZ.PDP039 Composed by Novie Greene. Score and Parts. 19 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #PDP039. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.PDP039). 9 x 12 in inches. The Two Irish Songs were arranged in 1983 at my suggestion. Mycousin, Ed Searl, was studying voice with Novie Greene at the time, and it was through him that I made her acquaintance. The three of us thought that it would be nice to have something which we could all perform together, and so Novie began working on these charming settings. We premiered these pieces at a Bach's Lunch Concert at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Orlando on 28 April 1983. I have performed them since then as a set and also done St. Patrick's Breastplate several times for church services. The hymn is frequently used during confirmation or baptis1n ceremonies. The text is a translation of a Gaelic prayer done in 1889 by Cecil Frances Alexander (1818-1895), the wife of the Anglican Bishop of Derry and Raphoe. She also wrote the text for the hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful. The tune chosen by Novie Greene, sometimes known as St. Patrick, is by the Irish composer Sir Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924), who wrote it in 1902. Stanford is best remembered today for his work as a professor of composition at the Royal College of Music. His students there included Frank Bridge, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Thomas Dunhill, Gustav Holst, Herbert Howells, Willian1 Yeates Hurlstone, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. ~Bruce Gbur.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726073 Composed by Pietro A. Yon. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christmas,Sacred. Score and parts. 17 pages. Con Spirito Music #3386423. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726073). Italian-born organist and composer Pietro Yon (1886-1943) wrote the anthem Gesu Bambino in 1917 while engaged as organist at St. Francis Xavier Church in Manhattan, New York, and as organ instructor and co-director (with his brother, Constantino) of the Yon Music Studios, a conservatory for liturgical musicians at New York’s Carnegie Hall.Yon was an acclaimed organist, later holding positions as Titular Organist of the Vatican and Music Director of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. He supervised installations of organs at both St. Patrick’s and Carnegie Hall. He was an influential teacher as well, with students occupying positions as organists and music directors at prominent churches in New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Grand Rapids, Dallas, Salt Lake City, and more.Yon was among the most important composers of sacred music for the Roman Catholic Church in the first half of the twentieth century, writing 21 masses, numerous motets, and various other sacred works. In addition, he wrote works for solo organ and solo piano, songs, chamber music, and orchestral compositions including several concertos. His best-known work, however, is Gesu Bambino, which incorporates the Venite adoramus (O come, let us adore him) refrain of the carol, Adeste Fideles (O Come All Ye Faithful), as its refrain.©Copyright 2017 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP).
