As of this publishing, over 135,000 people have found my one video collection of funeral hymns on YouTube, not including separate postings of each individual song. Because of this it's been on my mind for a long time to write a funeral song, but it was somehow just never the right time until just a few weeks ago when this one came pouring out in 5 minutes flat [which does not happen often, I can assure you!]. The culmination of years of playing for funerals, a bachelor degree in theology and sacred music, and many more years of writing and playing music through good times and also times full of grief, Lord of All Our Days is my very best and heartfelt attempt to serve those who are also dealing with the absolute heartache of loss, be it the acute, fresh grieving of just losing someone or the flashbacks that come time and time again, years and even decades later.

This song carefully and tenderly handles the true earth-shaking grief that it is to lose someone you love, while holding out a strong hope of the life to come for those who trust God. I had a very difficult time recording it without being moved to tears over and over, and I pray it will reach many in need of comfort, being of service to anyone who is looking for a Christian, Biblical funeral hymn for a memorial service or a celebration of life service. 

This is the full piano vocal arrangement in C major, a better key both for playing and for most singers' vocal ranges than the original version in B flat major.

Here is the lead sheet version of the hymn, The Harvest of the Earth�, as heard on my YouTube channel and requsted by listeners. Originally titled “See How Brown Autumn Spreads the Fields�, this song is so rare that I couldn’t find any music for it online, and therefore wrote a new melody and accompaniment for it that captures the the solemnity and even anguish of the lyrics. It’s one of the songs of harvest off of my album entitled “Hymns of Autumn�, but doesn’t talk about harvest in the traditional sense we normally sing about these days.

Not many talk about the judgement of God in today’s church, and this hymn will send chills down the spine of the most devout believer as we realize the full spectrum of God's character, including His wrath and power on Judgement Day. I found this in an old hymnal that was so old that the “S�s were still written as “F�s, and I had to squint to read it while learning to sing for this recording. I hope this ancient and powerful hymn finds a place to minister to today's church and believers around the world, perhaps after a sermon on God’s judgement, or for a Lent or Advent service about repentance and turning to God, both individually and as a nation.

This version is in B Minor to match the original recording, and includes the chords for the whole song including the reharmonized verse with a different melody.

This is in C Major so no capo is required, but for a more beginner guitar or alternate chord voicings you may prefer the G major version which is intended to be played on capo 3 or even 5, depending on the vocal range of whoever is leading the song.

This is the exact guitar version I used to record the Outdoor Acoustic Version of Lord of All Our Days, as heard on all streaming platforms. It is intended for use as a burial song, sung softly and reverently accompanied by a quiet guitar at the internment portion of a funeral service if music is desired at the graveside. I recommend playing it on capo 3 to match the original or a few higher to match your voice. You may also prefer to get the other version in C major and save using a capo. This version is just easier for a slightly more beginner guitarist. One other recommendation is to play it even lower so people can sing very quietly, i.e. capo 1 or even no capo at all, depending on the voice of the person leading the song.

Here is the easiest lead sheet version for guitar or beginner piano of my arrangement of Round Me Falls the Night, as heard on YouTube. This beautiful evening hymn is a perfect pairing of a solemn, contemplative melody with uplifting, scriptural lyrics that remind us of the hope we have in Christ, in this life and the next. I found this song in a very old hymnbook, so old that you could feel the raised print on the page, and loved the lyrics so much! However, I felt that a minor melody would suit it in a really special way, so I rewrote it with new choral harmonization using a mixture of minor modes to match the evening mood of the song. This piece works well as a choir anthem for evensong, funerals, or for any more contemplative, low-key service, and is written in a comfortable, singable range for everyday singers. It works well either with a soft organ or keyboard/pad accompaniment or a capella, to showcase the rich vocal harmony reminiscent of Elaine Hagenburg or John Rutter.

Here is the piano solo version of He is Risen, as heard on my YouTube channel with all the other Easter and Holy week music. This piano solo works well for a prelude, postlude, or musical interlude during communion, especially for Resurrection Sunday or any of the Easter Season church services after Easter Sunday! If the full version is being used congregationally or as a sung solo in a service, this is a lovely way to tie the whole service together musically, by using this piano version as a postlude or prelude to make the service match nicely. Most recommended is to use the powerful, sung version as the Easter Proclamation at the beginning of the service, and this piano solo at the end to make a beautifully cohesive service.

Here is the full lead sheet version in an easier key of my arrangement of Round Me Falls the Night, as heard on YouTube. This beautiful evening hymn is a perfect pairing of a solemn, contemplative melody with uplifting, scriptural lyrics that remind us of the hope we have in Christ, in this life and the next. I found this song in a very old hymnbook, so old that you could feel the raised print on the page, and loved the lyrics so much! However, I felt that a minor melody would suit it in a really special way, so I rewrote it with new choral harmonization using a mixture of minor modes to match the evening mood of the song. This piece works well as a choir anthem for evensong, funerals, or for any more contemplative, low-key service, and is written in a comfortable, singable range for everyday singers. It works well either with a soft organ or keyboard/pad accompaniment or a capella, to showcase the rich vocal harmony reminiscent of Elaine Hagenburg or John Rutter.

Here is a guitar-friendly version of Were You There When They Crucified My Lord? as heard on my YouTube channel. This version is in G major to make it easy for a beginner guitar player, and can be played capo 5 to match the key of the original recording.
This arrangement of the classic Good Friday hymn has simple chords to accompany the solemn, beautiful melody and point towards the deep meaning and solemnity of Holy Week.

This song is beautiful for an Easter church service, either sung by a soloist or as a way to open a church service on Resurrection Sunday! It's perfect for a single singer accompanied by keyboard or piano for a powerful, prophetic statement, or can be joined halfway by a praise band or a pipe organ, whatever matches the style of your church's music. For best results, a smooth, rich pad sound should be used, especially for the beginning.
