This work features 4 different types of pan instruments; Tenor, Double Seconds, Triple Cellos, and Six Bass. All work together to create a somber work of dreariness and pulse. Delirium is a work I wrote with the intention of perpetually fighting insomnia to the point of listening to each second of the clock tick for hours on end. After a slow start of laying harmonic framework, the piece excels into faster developmental material that leads to a state of deliriousness, finally returning to a dying fade of nothingness. Star Pulse (2010)

Over the past couple of years I’ve written a number of works for double second steel pans, all commissioned by Dr. Rick Kurasz who with several of his colleagues are seeking to expand the concert literature for that instrument. Originally Rick was scheduled to do this premiere at Marshall, but he had to cancel at the last moment. Interpreting this turn of events as an opportunity, I arranged the solo part to Star Pulse for electric guitar as part of an on-going, back-burner, pet-project. At present, the work is arranged for wind symphony and either, double second steel pans, or electric guitar solo.

Grade level of the the work is 4+.

Written, recorded, and released in 1959 by brothers Santo and Johnny Farina, Sleep Walk reached the top of the Billboard charts that year and has been popular ever since. A staple of the steel-guitar surf rock era, the beautiful instrumental ballad was later covered by a number of other artists, influenced a number of other songs, and even inspired Stephen King to write a screenplay! Originally written for a proposal, this string quartet arrangement brings to life the languid melodies, beautiful harmonies and countermelodies, and laid-back surf rock groove of the original for a chart that's just as much fun to play as it is to listen to. Rated intermediate; there are a handful of high notes and syncopated rhythms in the v1 part, but overall this will be playable for students and easily sightreadable for professionals.

Currently, she performs with legendary rock band Aerosmith in their “Deuces Are Wild� residency show, and she is the principal cellist for the Raiders House Band, playing for a crowd of 60,000 at all of the team's home games. Jörg Widmann dedicated 'Freie Stücke' to his teacher Wolfgang Rihm on his fiftieth birthday in 2002. The ten pieces for mixed ensemble or orchestra are 'inspired by the wish for concentration and reduction. Each piece focusses on one sound phenomenon (pulse, shaking ground, noise, monophony, overtone structures, etc.). All parts are locked together, however.
