The beauty and romance of this piece would make it great as wedding music. It would also be suitable for a chamber music concert, or in a school or church. This Fantasia in D Minor, K. 397, really shows off Mozart's dramatic side.  My arrangement of this Fantasy, one of Mozart's most popular piano pieces, gives each instrument the opportunity to play a different character.  Fantasia in D Minor opens with somber arpeggios in the bassoon, and then goes to a pleading melody that goes back and forth between the flute and the oboe.  The tension builds up until the clarinet breaks out into a wild cadenza.  The pleading melodies and wild cadenzas go back and forth a few more times building tension until the final segment, which resolves with a bright, cheerful song-like melody in the horn.  Duration is approximately 6 minutes.I had a great time arranging this piece, and I hope you will enjoy playing it.  It presents some unique challenges and expressive opportunities, and it is a real crowd-pleaser.

Harmonic tension builds as the plea Requiem aeterna dona eis Domine (Grant them eternal rest, O Lord is sung three times. The final chord builds with the single word Lux, an entreaty for eternal light to shine upon the souls of the departed.

Fifty human beings died and another 53 were injured, many critically, in the shooting. I was moved to create a setting of this powerful text in memoriam of the Pulse victims. The protracted rests in the piece are meant to be moments of silence for the victims of this tragedy.

Traditionally, this text is sung during Eucharistic services.It is my prayer that, as with O Sacrum Convivium, those who hear this work may find respite, grace, and peace in the midst of a troubled world.

As daunting as it may seem to speakout against the global war machine, it is becoming increasingly imperative that we do so, as the horrors of war seem to multiply day after day. It seems that the most vulnerable of humanity are the ones who suffer the most in the face of unending war, and it is on their behalf that we must speak out. To do so in any other way than the way of peaceful protest in the tradition of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Gandhi, and Jesus Christ of Nazareth simply escalates violence and pours fuel on the flames of war. On the other hand, when we engage in nonviolent protest, we promote peace and become, as Jesus said, children of God. Blessed are the peacemakers indeed.

I was inspired to write The Peace Prayer as this particular prayer has proven to be an uplifting source of strength, encouragement, and renewal throughout my life, especially in times of adversity. As there is no repetition in the words of the prayer, the piece is through-composed with a significant amount of text painting for textual emphasis: for example, the gradual building of the D major chord of the word light to paint a transformation as light dispels darkness. In the final measures, the Amen progresses from B-flat major to C major to D major, portraying hope, joy, and peace as the soul is uplifted and enlightened by the power and majesty of this incredibly inspiring prayer.

It is, as the title suggests, composed as a soothing lullaby, with a gentle rocking motion in the piano throughout. The clarinet and violin take turns playing lush melodic lines, often in parallel sixths, the sixth being an interval associated with consonance and pleasure. In a world wracked with discord, it is hoped that this lullaby for listeners and performers of all ages may bring comfort and solace.
