Brass Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799956 Composed by Brad Carman. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk,Standards. Score and parts. 54 pages. Brad Carman #5988533. Published by Brad Carman (A0.799956). Schnoodles Flex Duet Repertoire for Band is a collection of 32 easy duets that can be played by any two wind or keyboard players or group of players; including full band! Following in the footsteps of Schnibbles for Two, these duets offer variety, fun, and encourage creative expression and musical experimentation. This duet book asks the student to consider multiple interpretations, and making connections to other art forms, such as visual art, creative writing, and dance. Used as a compliment to any band method, this collection helps to bridge the gap between unison playing and the more ambitious ensemble repertoire that requires both independence and sometimes extreme patience, especially for those that do not carry the melody. With Schnoodles, each part takes turns carrying and supporting the melody giving each player the opportunity to experience both roles simultaneously. While Schnoodles give each player a lot to play, they also give players some creative choices. None come with a prescribed tempo, and most allow students to determine the appropriate articulations and dynamics for the piece based on their abilities, preferences, and interpretations - and hopefully - guidance from a teacher! Players are encouraged to consult teachers and more experienced musicians as they ponder the possibilities of each petit little piece.

Brass quintet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CMS164 Composed by Edward Taylor Paull. Arranged by Judith Katz. Score and Parts. 24 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CMS164. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CMS164). 9 x 12 in inches. While doing some research on pre-20th Century American composers, I came across the name of Edward Taylor Paull. In all of my years as a flutist, conductor, and now writer, I never heard of Paull before, but I was curious enough to look for any sound files of his music, and came across both live piano performances and piano roll performances of the Ben HurChariot Race March on YouTube.Edward Taylor Paul, known in some circles as The Other March King was born on February 16th, 1858. In Gerrardstown, Virginia, now West Virginia. While not too much is known about his early years, we do know that his adult years were spent as itinerant musician, instrument sales person, selling pianos and organs, composer, as well as publisher. The Civil War era had Patrick Sarsfield Gillmore as the most famous bandleader and composer. As children of this era, John Philip Sousa and Edward Taylor Paull, were destined to follow in Gillmore's footsteps. While Sousa became successful through his work as both conductor and composer, even attaining the moniker of March King, the road to success and fame was more difficult for Paull. We do know, that by 1878, he was the manager of a music store that sold pianos and organs, eventually going bankrupt, and having to be bailed out by his own father. By 1894, he was the manager of the Richmond Music Publishing Company, and this was the same year that he was issued his first copyright on the Ben Hur Chariot Race March This was originally written for piano, particularly, the parlour piano. This was to become one of many marches and parlour piano compositions by 'E.T, Paull. He may not have been the most skilled musician of his era, but he was wise enough to realize how popular marches became in 1880's and '90's.Paull's compositions were also associated with beautiful color covers. He was fortunate to live in Richmond, Virginia, and the lithography company of A. Hoen & Company, provided him the highest quality and richly-colored art work for his compositions. This company was unique, in that they used a five- color process, which added depth to the color. Thepopularity of marches, plus the great covers, both contributed to the 60,000 copies that the Ben Hur Chariot Race March sold in its first printing. Not bad, for a first composition.Paull found inspiration for his march from the novel Ben Hur, written and published by General Lew Wallace in 1880. Paull dedicated his composition to Wallace, who sold many copies of his book. Eventually, there was a stage play and three film renditions; one in 1907, 1925, and 1959. Some time in the 1920's, the Sousa Band recorded the Ben Hur Chariot Race March, and of course, the MGM, 1925 film version, helped in a renewed popularity of Paull's composition.Edward Taylor Paull died in 1924, and his wife retained the copyright, until it went into public domain. What remains today are a few music examples in the Library of Congress collection, as well as some 78's and piano rolls. While I did my research on this piece, I tried to find any applicable Sousa manuscripts of a possible arrangement, but I could not findany. I usually write for woodwinds, but in this case, I thought that a brass quintet would sound far better. I also chose a moderate tempo, so as not to lose some of the nuances of the original composition.

Large Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.555862 Composed by M Haydn. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Classical. Score and parts. 19 pages. RayThompsonMusic #5954953. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.555862). Johann Michael Haydn, the younger brother of Joseph Haydn, was born in 1737 in the Austrian village of Rohrau. Following in his brother's footsteps he trained at the choir school of St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna where he was thought to be a brighter student than Joseph. After leaving the choir-school, he was first appointed as Kapellmeister at Nagyvárad in Romania and then, in 1762, at Salzburg where he stayed until his death in 1805, composing church and instrumental music. The Turkish March is scored for wind instruments and percussion. Mock Turkish music was very popular during the classical period, and was famously exploited by Mozart in his opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Haydn's work is typical of the genre having bright lively melodies given an exotic flavour through the addition of untuned percussion, particularly cymbals. (Originally scored for double wind quintet, two trumpets and percussion)My arrangement is scored for double wind quintet and bass.(no trumpets or percussion)All essential trumpet solos are covered by the other winds.Horn parts are in G as the original.I have written a bass part to add depth to the piece.

Prelude No. 10 in B Minor', composed by Johann Sebastian Bach and performed by Víkingur Ólafsson today! IntermediateFormat: Concert, 9 x 12 inches4 pagesNotesPrelude and Fugue in E minor, BWV 855, is the 10th prelude and fugue for keyboard (harpsichord) in the first book of The Well Tempered Clavier, composed in 1722 by Johann Sebastian Bach. The Prelude in E minor, BWV 855a, features as No. 18 (Praeludium 5) in the 1720 Klavierbüchlein für Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. BWV 855a may also refer to both this Prelude and a Fughetta in the same key, an early version of BWV 855. Alexander Siloti made a piano arrangement in B minor of the Prelude BWV 855a.Ólafsson teamed up with director Magnús Leifsson to shoot the video in a fish processing plant in Iceland, complete with grand piano. They use the fish, an early Christian symbol, to allude to the mysticism and timelessness of Bach’s music – as changeable as water, it has to be understood at a metalevel, given the many different ways in which composition, transcription and performance can be interwoven. Everything is there in Bach’s music, says the pianist, who transports the composer’s keyboard writing to new shores on his latest recording. Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1076789 Composed by Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn. Arranged by Aaron Hettinga. 20th Century,Film/TV,Jazz,Standards,Wedding. Score and parts. 17 pages. Aaron Hettinga #680902. Published by Aaron Hettinga (A0.1076789). The enduring World War II- era standard “It's Been A Long, Long Time†has been recorded by many great artists through the years. More recently, the song has found renewed popularity due to its use in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Avengers†movies. This arrangement takes its cue from the recording by Harry James and his orchestra, and reworks the performance as presented here for Vocal soloist, 3 horns, and Rhythm section. This chart observes the original key and form of the classic recording by Harry James with vocal soloist Helen Forrest. The horn parts closely follow in the footsteps of the original recording, making this a good vehicle to showcase a talented trumpeter. The remaining horns play the supporting role of the most important elements of the large orchestra arrangement which requires strong players on all parts. The Rhythm section/Lead sheet incorporates the chord changes and most important rhythmic elements to allow a flexible instrumentation of rhythm section to adequately feature the trumpeter and vocalist. This arrangement is a great way to showcase talented instrumentalists and vocals on this classic piece of music!

Instrumental Duet,Lever Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.803853 Composed by Traditional Christmas Carol. Arranged by Serena O’Meara. Christmas,Holiday,Multicultural,Standards,Traditional,World. 7 pages. O'Meara Music #5026277. Published by O'Meara Music (A0.803853). This sweet, well known Christmas melody was originally a Finnish springtime song, dating to the 13th Century. It was published in 1582 in a book of seventy-four songs. After receiving a copy of that book as a gift, John Mason Neale set his lyrics celebrating the famous Bohemian (907-935) to this melody. In 1854, the book Carols for Easter-tide was published, including Good King Wenceslas as a Springtime song. This arrangement has 5 verses in the key of G. It represents Good King Wenceslas and his Page trudging through (eighth notes) the harsh winter weather on December 26 as they leave their warm castle to help the poor. Occasionally there is a pause as they catch their breath or look through the swirling snow at how far they have traveled. The fourth verse represents the Page walking in King Wenceslas’s footsteps. The melody is divided evenly between parts. Dynamics are clearly marked.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553608 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century. 34 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3227059. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553608). Two Piano Preludes from Book 1 - Nos.VI Des pas sur la neige/XII Minstrels Two preludes from Bk 1 arranged symphonic winds: double wind quintet  with contra bass and opt. trumpet and trombone. No 6 Des pas sur la neige (Footsteps in the Snow)The piece is one of four Debussy preludes in both books whose title origins are unknown. It has been suggested that the inspiration for the title could have stemmed from a painting depicting a snowy landscape. This was an extremely popular backdrop among Impressionist artist like Claude Monet or Alfred Sisley; the latter painted Snow at Louveciennes. No 12 Minstrels This is the final prelude of Book One.  Debussy delivers a surprising and humorous gem that is a tribute to the performing minstrel groups which started to appear in Europe around 1900. The music of the minstrels included many contemporary jazz elements such as ragtime and blues, rhythms which were incorporated into the music of quite a few fascinated European composers. This prelude cleverly captures the frenzy of the quick-change minstrel act and their rhythmic excitement, opening with a banjo-like theme supported by uncharacteristically blatant dominant to tonic pedals in G Major. We also hear a brief sentimental song and a recurrent drum theme before the prelude comes to a satisfying close with a hymn- like plagal cadence.
