Choral Choir (SA) - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.761688

Composed by Debra E. Stempien and Gregory H. Turner. Children,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Octavo. 6 pages. Standard Time #6070293. Published by Standard Time (A0.761688).

This setting of Robert Louis Stevenson's poem, The Wind, from A Child's Garden of Verses, is composed for two-part SA treble chorus with piano accompaniment. The extended tonal harmonies ask students to hear and resolve suspended and non-chord pitches within easily accessible thirds and sixths, while Part I can help develop range for the higher voices.  In terms of text, Stevenson’s poem provides mature lyrics for young musicians as well as an opportunity for cross-discipline literary learning.  A current and respected choral director who reviewed the piece referred to the piano accompaniment as fun to play and varied nicely.  In response to the piece as a whole, she also said, I do think the young choral world can use more challenging pieces..

Bass Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1392677

By AJR. By Adam Metzger, Jack Metzger, and Ryan Metzger. Arranged by Aaron Hettinga. 21st Century,A Cappella,Comedy,Patriotic,Pop. 11 pages. Aaron Hettinga #976196. Published by Aaron Hettinga (A0.1392677).

This fun and exciting song from pop band AJR is arranged here for a trio of 2 Tenor Trombones and Bass Trombone or Tuba but can also be pulled off with any combination of bass clef instruments: Trombones, Baritones/Euphoniums or Bassoons. The form here emulates the beginning of the AJR track with chorus, verse, chorus, then moves ahead to a different sort of trombone jam/playout (beginning at measure 51) which calls out some London-flavored melodies before a restatement of the last phrase of the chorus.

The 1st part keeps the melody throughout this arrangement. There are some lower octave cues in the verse that will allow the player to only have to briefly touch on some F's and G's above the staff a few times if they donâ??t have a high B-flat at the ready. The remaining parts shoulder the greater technical challenge but also have some simplified cue notes available if needed.

Optionally, if your group prefers not to undertake the brief tempo change (and Rule Britannia! quote) you can optionally skip measures 57 and 58 without slowing, but the chuckle from your audience will surely be worth the extra effort.

SKU: A0.1008457

Composed by Steve Allen. Arranged by Kirk Schmidt. Contemporary. Score and parts. 54 pages. Kirk Schmidt #4810227. Published by Kirk Schmidt (A0.1008457).

This is my concert style arrangement of Steve Allen's This Could Be The Start Of Something Big. It's fast and plays best if counted in two because we have (2) transitions to 6/8 (march) and back again to 4/4 (swing). By counting in TWO the transition is easier because the downbeats remain the same.

There are ad lib solos for the Tenor I Sax, Trombone II, Alto II, Trumpet II and Guitar. At the end we have a rallentando leading to (2) fermatas, the 1st long and the 2nd longer. This is a chance to feature the drummer with solo fills. Separate the fermatas with RR tracks, please. Following the latter fermata and RR tracks, the last 4 bars are back up to tempo!

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1149634

By Black Eyed Peas With Daddy Yankee. By Allan Pineda, Antonio Nunzio Catania, Jaime Gomez, John Paul Larkin, Ramon Ayala, William Adams, and Yonatan Goldstein. Arranged by Steve Burks. Latin,Pop. Score. 4 pages. Steven L. Burks #749785. Published by Steven L. Burks (A0.1149634).

This solo piano version of Bailar Contigo by Black Eyed Peas and Daddy Yankee falls into the intermediate range of difficulty. The voice leading is moderate. The main challenge is the 4-against-3 rhythmic subdivision required between the hands in some sections. If maintaining the merengue groove with the left hand proves too challenging, the structures in the left hand can be played on down beats in quarter notes, and the character of the song can be left to the melody in the right hand. This arrangement adheres to the form of the recording up to time marker 2:34. I am a member of ASCAP. You may contact me at steve@steveburksmusic.com. Thanks.
