Stewart #715515. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1113612). ā€œThe Bleeding Nunā€: The text speaks of supernatural beings, ghosts, castles & palaces. It was inspired by the Gothic romance novel The Monk, which evolved into the play, Raymond & Agnes. It is a tale of a woman who gave in to her desires, murdered someone, then she herself was murdered, and condemned to a punishment of eternal unrest roaming the halls of the Castle Lindenberg. This strophic song is arranged for voice with piano accompaniment. Performance time: 3:00+- Apt for the Halloween season.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1033880 Composed by Attributed to Anne Boleyn. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Classical,Renaissance,Traditional. 16 pages. Scott S. Stewart #639193. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1033880). ā€œO Death, rock me asleepā€: The lament of Anne Boleyn, 2nd wife of King Henry the VIIIth, is essentially a Tudor-era poem inspired (perhaps attributed) by/to her last days in the Tower of London while awaiting execution. She was convicted on charges of high treason, adultery and incest, and sentenced to be beheaded. The authorship of this dirge is entirely speculative; yet William Shakespeare quotes it, and Henry Purcell uses the same funeral ostinato a 100 years later. A nod to Voices of Music (Early Music Ensemble) and their gutsy scholarship regarding the B-flat/B-natural controversy. This arrangement is for a 4-part SATB ensemble with keyboard accompaniment. Performance time: 5:53+.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1260597 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. A Cappella,Baroque,Classical,Opera. Octavo. 4 pages. Scott S. Stewart #853790. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1260597). ā€œO Sleep, Why Dost Thou Leave Me?ā€, from Georg Friedrich HƤndel’s oratorio/opera Semele (1743), is sung by the lovely, yet vain and ambitious princess, Semele of Thebes. Ā She awakens and regrets that the dream she was having has ended, and calls upon Sleep to return and restore her peaceful vision. (This aria is often suggested listening to those suffering from insomnia.) Ā This arrangement is for 4-part SATB ensemble to be performed a cappella. Ā It’s purpose is twofold: to serve as an introduction to HƤndel and English Baroque music, while at the same time teaching young sopranos a performable aria for their solo repertoire. Performance time: 2:15+-.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Digital Download SKU: A0.955894 Composed by Traditional 16th century English folksong. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Christmas,Contemporary. Score. 9 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6856893. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955894). What Child Is This? is a ā€˜Christmas carol’ with lyrics written by William Chatterton Dix in 1865, set to the tune of the traditional English folk song ā€˜Greensleeves’.  The lyrics are taken from his poem The Manger Throne.  The song What Child Is This? was first published in 1871 in Christmas Carols Old and New.  The tune ā€˜Greensleeves’ association with the festive season can be dated back to 1642; also Shakespeare refers to this popular tune twice in his famous play Merry Wives of Windsor.  This arrangement is scored for solo voice with piano accompaniment.  Performance time: 3:12. It is arranged with the awe and wonder (and perhaps confusion) the townspeople and shepherds experienced with the birth of ā€˜this child.’

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1170438 By Marlene Dietrich. By Hans Leip, Norbert Schultze, and Tommie Connor. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 20th Century,Historic,Multicultural,Patriotic,Traditional,World. Score. 5 pages. Scott S. Stewart #770808. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1170438). ā€œLilli Marleneā€ (Lili Marlene, Lily Marleen, et al) for some is a song of (political and social) contradictions, but it is first and foremost a love song – the tale of a young soldier in love with a girl while they are surrounded by the horrors of war. Ā Inspired by the poetry of German Hans Leip (1915), set to music by Norbert Schultze (1937) with a traditional folksong-like melody (to a typical war march-like accompaniment); the British Ministry of Information commissioned Tommie Conner (1944) to write a set of English lyrics to ā€˜encourage British war morale’ - for they were worried of the effect of German song’s popularity on British troops. Ā This arrangement is for solo voice and piano accompaniment. Ā It is in the style of a cabaret ballad – for after all it is a love song. Conner’s pronouns have been changed so the tale can be told from the perspective of Lilli Marlene. Ā Performance time: 3:15+-.
