Everlasting Light is taken from my second album “Sky Blue Piano�, inspired by my interest in the connection of music and colour to paint different moods and styles. Whilst at music college, I composed a new melody for the carol O Little Town Of Bethlehem for a Christmas concert, and arranged it for choir and orchestra. Cloudbusting is a song written, produced and performed by English singer Kate Bush. It was the second single released from her fifth studio album 'Hounds of Love' (1985). Cloudbusting peaked at No. 20 on the UK Singles Chart. Taking inspiration from the 1973 Peter Reich memoir A Book of Dreams, the song is about the very close relationship between psychiatrist and philosopher Wilhelm Reich and his young son, Peter, told from the point of view of the mature Peter. It describes the boy's memories of his life with Reich on their family farm, called Orgonon, where the two spent time cloudbusting, a rain-making process which involved using a machine pointing at the sky. The lyrics further describe Reich's abrupt arrest and imprisonment, the pain of loss the young Peter felt, and his helplessness at being unable to protect his father. The predominant string texture has been retained in this concert band arrangement, transposed to a more band-friendly key and the thumping percussion recalls Kate Bush's megahit 'Running Up That Hill'. Arranged as part of a project to expand the repertoire of music for concert band by women composers.

Everlasting Promise, 3 pages, is an intermediate piece in the key of C, is the seventh piece from a fairy tale suite of 8 pieces entitled The Kingdom of Light.  This work tells the story of a beautiful kingdom where the people are always singing and dancing. A place with glorious sunsets and sparkling seashores, with no evil lurking anywhere...until one day the Dark Knight arrives. Can the Prince save his lovely Princess? Can peace and safety be restored once more?   For individual student enjoyment as well as for recital programs. The recordings have narration and character voice overs followed by the piano piece that tells the story. Churches can use this for religious purposes as this can be allegorical in nature.

The solo, Everlasting Promise, is in 4/4 time, opens with a wedding processional using common tone chords. The second and third sections depict the saying of wedding vows followed by great joy as the Prince and Princess are wed. Students with small hands can play single notes instead of octaves when necessary.
