The first violin and the cello show the beautiful melody successively to complete the beginning phrase.Then the viola and the first violin enrich the music by changing the thematic melody and using delicate modulation. The work is highly praised everywhere.

Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767061). This is my first attempt at a string quartet. It follows the standard classical/romantic pattern in three movements. The first movement is light and airy, almost evoking the image of a late romantic drawing room. The 2nd movement is slow and sad, evoking the sense of a maiden weeping for a lost love. This movement needs to be played with a lot of passion and all parts need to use their warmest vibrato. The final movement portrays a laughing, glittery ball. Dancers in evening dress whirl around the dance floor. The cello has a leading role. This was originally written in 2005 and added to over the next two or three years. I'm currently working on my second quartet.

While some slurring and phrasing is included, take care to be consistent with phrasing the melody and pay close attention to the dynamic markings. The three complete statements of the melody take the arrangement through three tonal areas and allow each player full command of their instrument's range. Aimed at the advanced intermediate level (grade 6 ABRSM), this arrangement is approximately four minutes in duration and is ideal repertoire for high school and college recitals and competitions.
