The word gymnopedi was used by Sati as a quotation from Gymnopaedia, the word for a festival mentioned above. It was composed in 1888, at the age of 22 by Erik Satie (1866-1925/ France), a heretical composer in the 20th century music world. He originally composed three gymnopedies, of which I arranged the second one for String Quartet. The song is stated to be slow and sad. Overall, it represents a bizarre and melancholic atmosphere.
