Piano Quartet,String Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549784 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Classical,Concert,Sacred,Standards,World. Score and parts. 25 pages. Jmsgu3 #3535863. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549784). Mozart's Romanze from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525 for Piano Quartet (String Trio and Piano). Duration: ca. 7:00. Score: 11 pages. Violin: 4 pages, Viola: 3 pages, Cello: 2 pages, piano: 4 pages. This is one of the most beloved works in all of Mozart's catalog making it a strong choice for a recital, meditation, nightclub, church or wedding reception. Eine kleine Nachtmusik Eine kleine Nachtmusik is also at the same time known as Serenade No. 13. Indeed, we find it listed in the Köchel Catalog as K. 525. With this in mind, Mozart composed the piece by all means in 1787 probably as a commission. To clarify, the title translates as a little night-music. Mozart originally scored the work in particular for an ensemble of two violins, viola, and cello with double bass (optional). In modern times the work is certainly usually performed by string orchestras, though it is often in fact performed by a string quartet – with or without double bass. Publication A point often overlooked is that the name of the work derives from the entry Mozart made in his private journal. He wrote: Eine kleine Nacht-Musik. This explains that Mozart was probably not naming the piece, but only entering a record that he had completed it. Nevertheless, the work was published by and large in 1827. It had been sold to the publisher for the most part in 1799 by Mozart's widow Constanze. Nowadays, it is on balance extensively performed and recorded. Some critics ultimately claim that it is the most popular of all Mozart's works.   Early Years Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791), was a productive and significant Austrian classical composer. Mozart displayed unusual musical capability from his earliest childhood. It seems like he was already capable on keyboard and violin at the age of two. He started composing at age five and performed before European royalty. Middle Period At 17, Mozart was working as a musician at the Salzburg Royal court but grew agitated from boredom and traveled to search for a more interesting job. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was summarily dismissed from his Salzburg job. Nevertheless, he decided to stay in the capital (Vienna), where he achieved much fame but little economic haven. Throughout his concluding years in the Capital, he composed many of his most famous works: symphonies, operas, and concertos. Final Period The conditions surrounding his death have been much the subject of much conjecture and mythology. He composed more than 600 works, many recognized as highpoints of symphonic, chamber, concertante, choral and operatic. He is among the most everlastingly popular of classical composers, and his impact is substantial on succeeding Western art music.  Register for free lifetime updates and revisions of this product at www.jamesguthrie.com

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845169 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Classical,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 7 pages. Phil Beaman #6293581. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845169). Die Ehres Gottes aus der Natur (The Glory of God in Nature) was composed by the Master, L. van Beethoven. It is the fourth of the Sechs Lieder (Six Songs), published in 1803, which foreshadowed the Art Songs of the Romantic Era. Originally for Voice and Piano, I have arranged it for Instrumental Quartet. My arrangement stays true to Beethoven's intent to capture the passion of the original text in the music. (The texts are all sacred poems by Gellert.) Without the presence of lyrics I needed to create musical interest and interpretation, so I realized inner voices and polyphony out of his original homophonic accompaniment. I added new shape to individual lines, altered phrasing, elaborated rhythms, and in true Beethoven style added more dynamic markings. The mood and meaning are now stunningly portrayed through music alone. Die Ehres Gottes is full of joyous majesty and wonder. It has been made into a popular anthem and hymn under the title The Heavens Are Telling.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844848 Composed by Felix Alexandre Guilmant. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 16 pages. Phil Beaman #5741603. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844848). Alexandre Guilmant (1837-1911) was a Parisian organist, performer, and composer. This Marche was originally written for organ in his pedagogical books. I have arranged it for Instrumental Quartet in typical Romantic Symphonic style and I have filled it with expressive markings to bring out the incredible drama of this piece. There is a Trio style section in the sub-dominant key which I treat as an instrumental duet. The piece is Advanced Intermediate realizing that it pushes many of the instruments to both extremes of their ranges. It is furthering challenging due to the plethora of romantic accidentals including double sharps and double flats and constant dynamic changes. This piece amply rewards you in the end with a very impressive and dramatic repertoire performance piece.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845241 Composed by Anon. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Christmas,Concert,Contemporary,Jazz,Sacred. Score and parts. 35 pages. Phil Beaman #6463163. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845241). For this Christmas here is a dramatic Fantasia for Instrumental Quartet based on the old English carol God Rest You Merry Gentlemen. It is an eclectic fusion of Classical music and 1950's Free Jazz and West Indian/Caribbean rhythms with exuberance and pulse. It is in verse-refrain form, but is very freely treated and each of the four verses is wholly unique. Every single note is written to express, and sometimes expand upon, the word of the text at that point in time. There is an irregular meter which changes every few bars using 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, and 7/4 but always maintaining a strong pulse. It contains abrupt changes in dynamics and a rubato tempo with many markings of articulation. This is a challenging work with dynamic results.19 page score, 4 pages each part; 35 pages total4:45 minutes

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.961283 Composed by James Sclater. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 78 pages. James S Sclater #5998903. Published by James S Sclater (A0.961283). This work was written to commemorate the 70th anniversary of V-E Day. The movements are built around the names of five Jewish composers murdered by the Nazis during World War II. The composers are Gideon Klein, Hans Krasa, Viktor Ullmann, Pavel Haas, and Erwin Schulhoff. Their productive artistic lives were tragically cut short by the cruelties of the Nazi war machine. This quartet is an attempt to pay homage to them and their work. In movements 2 - 7, the principal melodic ideas come directly from the letters of the names of the five composers. This is a sober and introspective work but does include moments of a more lighthearted style.

String quartet - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q19873 'Divorce' · Scheidung. Composed by Fazil Say. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, Score and parts. Op. 29. Duration 16 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q19873. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19873). In the composition of this string quartet, I have permitted myself to be led by my personality and experiences and have attempted to relate experiences such as divorce, separation and the failure of a relationship in the language of music with the aid of notes and rhythms. As is the case with my other compositions, this quartet is more a work originating from intuition than the description of a historical event, a journey or a place. The beginning of the first movement is somewhat wild, rapid and sorrowful with an irregular rhythm. Intermittent sections ensue which are reminiscent of a jazz club. Living history is our present which we are currently experiencing. The second movement with a melancholic atmosphere is dominated by colours, the subject of searching, the search for a remedy and unhappiness. In contrast, the final movement is intended to express the hatefulness, arguments and disputes within a relationship which have been transformed into a profound trauma. (Fazıl Say, translated by Lindsay Chalmers-Gerbracht).
