Tsu Naide is a traditional Japanese Folk Song the composer learned from her 4th Grade Japanese teacher while living in Hawaii. She has kept it in her heart and her head for 55 years before putting the melody to notation. This version is SAB Full Score. The composer, Earl C. Thornton, was  Major in the Army during WWI. He was also a Methodist Minister. He composed Memories in 1914, most likely, just before deploying to Europe. His music was passed down from his granddaughter Joan Powell Jackson, to her daughter Susan Jackson Galentine who owns all copyrights and transcribed it from Thorntons written hand. The youtube link contains a performance of this piece by Dr. Mark Camann at The Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 1630 Goliad Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78223, recorded on September 3, 2022.

Tsu Naide, or O te te, as it is sometime called, is a traditional Japanese folk song the composer learned in 1967 from her 4th grade Japanese teacher, while her father was stationed at Hickam Field in Hawaii. It is about friendship and would be a great elementary or middle school choir piece for an end of year concert. The last verse is roughly translated into English. This version is unison with piano. The piano accompaniment MP3 is available on a separate title.  The solo is optional.

Watchmen Tell is an uplifting SAB choral piece with piano accompaniment. This would be a wonderful Spring or Easter piece in a secular or religious setting. The composer wrote it for her mothers funeral, wanting to end the service in a positive Celebration of Life sort of way. It was performed by the First Presbyterian Choir on February 9, 2022, however many changes have been made to the piece since. The MP3 is computer generated and is only to give conductors an idea of how it might sound. Human voices of course will add richness, artistry, and expression to the music.

This is a delightful contemporary piano duet that would be ideal for any student recital; appropriate for secondary students, intermediate level or above. During these turbulent times, the overall sound of this song reminds me of the constant optimistic yet strongly resolute aura of John Lewis, Civil Rights leader and Congressman; may he rest in peace. It is 38 measures long, Piano1 being more difficult due to the constant triplets. You can modify the piece by substituting a guitar for the Piano1 right hand, and a flute for the Piano1 left hand, using Piano2 as melody and accompaniment. Bits and pieces of the melody constantly come in and out, with episodes of dissonance, in part and in full, throughout the piece, making it sound a little Bach like.
