He didn't feel he was equipped to put music to his words, but he did have a poem that he gave me, wondering if I would set it to music for him. It was a difficult task because Richard's poetry was not set up in any formal poetic fashion; it was, however, a fulfilling task because his poem was such a simple, childlike, personal expression of his love for the Lord. I Am Going Home to Glory is the result of our collaboration. He was thrilled with the outcome.
