For soprano solo and women’s chorus (mostly SSA but with a few SSAA passages), organ, cello, synthesizer, and handbells, the music has a light, ethereal feeling. “Beati� can be taken as a sort of “Blessed are they� prefix for the movements which are not direct quotes from the Beatitudes. In this case the only English text is at the beginning and end, sung by the soprano soloist. The rest is a Latin setting of Lamentations 1:2 (“Weeping, she hath wept in the night�) and John 14:18 (“I will not leave you orphans�). Duration 7:12Instrumentalists play from the choral score.
