Sing me a song of a lass that is gone, Say, could that lass be I? Merry of soul she sailed on a day Over the sea to Skye. Billow and breeze, islands and seas, Mountains of rain and sun, All that was good, all that was fair, All that was me is gone. Sing me a song of a lass that is gone, Say, could that lass be I? Cello Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1095693 Composed by Julie Munkholm Bruun. Blues,Classical,Rock. Individual part. 41 pages. Julie Munkholm Bruun #699675. Published by Julie Munkholm Bruun (A0.1095693). There's a new cello lesson book on the market! In this book I've turned the normal way of learning to play the cello upside down. With a little bit of creativity, and a lot of knowledge and understanding about how the instrument works - and how students learn - I have created this book. I hope you will love it just as much as I do, and that it will help you build a good foundation for your cello playing. FROM THE INTRODUCTION: This lesson book was created with a new perspective in mind. My hope is, that this way of learning, will make it easier to learn to play the cello. I have chosen to include a few chapters in the beginning of the book, where you will play on open strings. That will help you establish a good, basic understanding for how the cello should sound. It will also give you the opportunity to build up strength in the left hand slowly – and concentrate on getting a good, basic bowing technique. I have included small chapters with music theory, that I find important in order to understand how the instrument works. The cello doesn't have any keys or frets to help you play in tune, so knowing a few tips and tricks will help you tremendously. As opposed to most cello lesson books, the first finger you will learn to use here is the 4th finger. The 4th finger is your little finger and usually the least strong finger of them all. Starting with 4th finger has 2 very important advantages: • When you use the 4th finger – especially in the beginning – you will use the other 3 fingers to help push the string down into the fingerboard. That will help you establish a good, healthy hand position for the left hand. And when you start with 4th finger, using the other 3 fingers will feel so easy! • 4th finger in the first position is the same note (an octave higher) as the open string below. It gives you the opportunity to use the open string to know if you play in tune. Once you have gone through this book you should be able to play with the bow, by plucking the strings (pizzicato) and use 1st, 3rd and 4th finger on the left hand. That means that you should be able to play songs in G Major and D Major in one octave. The last few chapters include duets for two cellos. I have chosen to include the duets to make it more fun to play and to start developing the students ability play chamber music. It is wonderful to be able to play an instrument, and playing with other people adds an extra dimension to that. Love, live, play! Julie.

Published by Boothe Publishing (A0.1069967). I was asked to sing a solo in church when I was 9 or 10 years old, and boy was I prepared to do it. I had practiced it until it was perfect. I walked right up to that pulpit at church, nodded to my accompanist to start playing, and then I looked out at the audience. That's when I lost it. There must have been 1000 people there. I promptly forgot all of the words and started looking around for my Mom. Ah, there she was. Noticing the abject look of terror on my face she smiled at me and started mouthing the words to me. My knees trembling, my whole body shaking, I sang every word that she mouthed to me. By the time I sat down I had decided that I was never going to sing again. However, on the way back to my mother, so many people told me that I did a good job that I decided maybe I would sing again. I believe in myself. I also believe that God is my Father and that Jesus Christ , who is my elder brother, is the Savior of the world.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.977031 Composed by Paul SanGregory. Contemporary. Score. 20 pages. Distant Engraver Music #3534597. Published by Distant Engraver Music (A0.977031). This set of three pieces is well-suited for advanced students or professional performers who enjoy creating and shaping mood, atmosphere and color on the piano. They were composed to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Claude Debussy’s birth. For that reason, they are based on various composing techniques and aesthetic ideas that he developed. Even so, there was no attempt to make them actually sound like Debussy’s music. In fact, while composing them I often felt like I was looking at Debussy’s techniques through the distorting lenses of music that came after him, but that he had influenced.I - Drifting Through ChangeOne sort of change in this piece comes from the interaction of two repeated rhythmic patterns of different lengths. Episodes of contrasting character then drift in and out of the piece creating more changes. The effect is as if one is floating quietly through empty space, but occasionally drifting past various objects or situations.II - Building CloudsTo me, the opening of this movement sounds like an idea from Debussy’s Nuages that has been turned inside out. Unlike Debussy’s more delicate clouds, however, the clouds of this piece grow turbulent and dramatic. III - Moonless HeathFor this movement, I imagine walking through an open untamed field on a dark moonless night and not being sure what I might be passing by. In terms of color and technique, this piece shows a more obvious relationship to Debussy’s music that the first two. It begins with a simple melody similar to that of his Bruyére, after which a Debussy-inspired ostinato gently moves the music forward. Structurally, the whole piece is an inverted palindrome so that a melody from the beginning returns in retrograde-inversion at the end, becoming a brief quote of Debussy’s music. Performance duration ca. 11 minutes.

On that day, amid accompanying splendour, the music-loving Grand Duke Michail Nikolaievich (1832-1909), youngest brother of Tsar Alexander II, married Princess Caecilie of Baden (1839-91), daughter of Archduke Leopold of Baden. Johann Strauss, who at that time was giving a summer season of concerts in nearby Pavlovsk, used the opportunity occasioned by the event to enhance his already enviable popularity with the Russian royal family and composed the Caecilien-Polka in honour of the lovely young bride. Indeed, it is clear from a letter which Johann wrote in late July 1857 to Carl Haslinger, his publisher in Vienna, that the new polka had been prepared well in advance of the wedding (the fair copy of the full orchestral score made for the publisher's engraver is dated 9 August) and was enjoying success even before the royal couple's official engagement on 16August 1857. Sometime after performing the Caecilien-Polka in Pavlovsk, Johann despatched the work to the Austrian capital where his brother Josef conducted its Viennese première, together with that of Johann's waltz Telegraphische Depeschen (op. 195, Volume 28), at his own benefit concert in the Volksgartenon Sunday 18 October 1857. The Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (16.10.1857) remarked that both works have caused a sensation in St. Petersburg and are truly genial Viennese sounds full of verve and melody. Since tradition demanded that the German Princess Caecilie adopt a Russian name - Olga Feodorovna - before her marriage, so Johann's Caecilien-Polka also underwent a change of identity. On 8 December 1857 Carl Haslinger announced the publication of Strauss's Olga-Polka, on the title page of which is the inscription: Dedicated to her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga, née Princess of Baden. It was under this title, too, that Johann himself first conducted the work in Vienna at a concert in the Volksgarten on 1 November 1857, shortly after his return from Russia. Reporting on this event, the Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (3.11.1857) observed: The 'Olga-Polka' is a most delightful, fragrant musical bouquet, full of fine, gracious rhythms. Published by Boothe Publishing (A0.1069957). After our first child arrived I realized that I wasn't free any longer. My mind returned to the good old days when I was free to daydream and do whatever it was that I wanted to do. When I was younger I had wanted to grow up to be a bird, a frog, an ant or a baby bee, but I had grown up to be a man, and now I had a wife and a baby son. Things were not the way I had imagined they would be. Now I had to go to work every day to pay the bills, and I didn't even like my job. It felt like I was bound in chains that were unbreakable. There seemed to be no way out, but there was a way out. All I had to do was accept that life had changed, that I had changed, and I needed to make the best of it. After making that decision life got better and better. I realized that the true plan for life was to create our own homes and families, and that sooner or later we will all return to our heavenly home. I love being home, and at the homes of my siblings, friends, and parents. Home is not really a physical place so much as it is where we are surrounded by people who love us. Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314698 Composed by Richard Hirsch. Instructional. Educational Exercises. 8 pages. Richard Hirsch #903442. Published by Richard Hirsch (A0.1314698). Many amateur guitarists and beginning students of guitar are ‘stuck in the first position’. The rest of the fretboard is ‘terra incognita’. They don’t know where the notes are and they don’t know how to get to them and use them in playing melodies. To help remedy this situation, I offer a collection of scales and exercises I have developed over the years that have helped me master the fretboard of the guitar and that I have used to warm up my left and right hands before practicing or playing proper pieces. Guitarists afraid to move up the fretboard miss out on all the tonal nuances that the guitar has to offer. They also often have undeveloped left hand technique with a little finger that flies around helplessly and uselessly. These scales and exercises will, if played regularly, put the little finger to good use and guide the left hand to orient to the fretboard properly, staying close to the fretboard with fingers that move as little and as efficiently as possible. They are also relaxing and fun to play around with. I read somewhere a while back that medical science had found that pianists were less likely to develop brain diseases. The scientists attributed this to the many hours pianists spend playing scales, as this is like a gentle brain massage. So scales are not only good warm up exercises for the fingers but also good warm-ups for the brain. The scale exercises written here in the keys of G and C should be played in different keys in higher positions on the fretboard. Students can try to see just how far up the neck they can go to reach the highest notes. After a while, what seemed challenging and strange will start to feel comfortable and familiar. Don’t hesitate to develop new variants of the scales when you grow tired of playing them as I propose here. Have fun playing and playing with the scales! The exercises often start in one position and move toward other higher or lower positions on the fretboard. When moving from one position to another, follow the suggested fingerings to utilise what is called a lead finger to move the hand to the next position. This will make the movement smooth and not interrupt the flow of the scale. In the end all movement should look and feel seamless and effortless.I have chosen scales in major keys I think are particularly good to play on the guitar. To practice a scale in a minor key, start the exercise in the related major key from the fundamental of the minor key, for example, to play an E minor scale start the G major exercise on an E and play from there. This is one way of creating new variants of these scales. Another way to vary the exercises is to play the scales in different time signatures or rhythms.I believe these exercises are particularly helpful for amateur guitarists who play in ensembles of different kinds, duos, trios, quartets, where the guitarist often only has one melodic line to play. Such melodies often sound much better played in higher positions where the guitar can be made to sing, rather than in the first position where the same tones, especially on open strings, often sound rather dull. From my own experience, I find that when I play a melody in a higher position using all the fingers of the left hand, the melody not only sounds better, the fingers remember the melody better.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.904849 Composed by Giorgia Todrani, Maurizio Fabrizio. Arranged by Marco Borsoi. Jazz,Pop,World. Octavo. 21 pages. Marco Borsoi #3512071. Published by Marco Borsoi (A0.904849). --------------- Strano il mio Destino is a piece of music by the Italian singer-songwriter Giorgia, 3rd at the Sanremo Festival 1996. The piece is on the album Strano il mio destino (Live & studio 95/96). Authors of the song are Giorgia and Maurizio Fabrizio. This original harmonization for mixed SATB choir and piano, enhances even more the melodic and harmonic characteristics of the piece, making it even more unique and magical. The song is about a woman who reflects on a past story. A story that she herself wanted or had to close, but certainly not without regrets; What a woman I will be, if you are not with me and if I will love you more and more.... And she thinks: Strange is my fate, that brings me here…; a fate that compels her, for some reason, to reflect on her past, bringing her back to the moment in which she decided to leave away in silence. A destiny that, even today, surprises her to rethink about that love but without indicating a new way to go, because, even if all that love, I have swept it away ..., it hurts not to think about you. In the refrain, a hope emerges (underlined by the opening of the melody): I will not lose you, beyond time and distance I will go ...; hope that is confirmed in the last stanza: It is clear my destiny ... I will reach you, when the girl also understands that not everything depends on her: I will try to shout and maybe you will hear, my voice calling you, if you want . And hope, become certainty, returns with the repetition, emphasized by the melodic impetus, of the concluding sentence ... not to leave you, anymore.
