Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.994719 Composed by Darian Stavans. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 66 pages. Music Studio #4321783. Published by Music Studio (A0.994719). Noir et Blanc.Noir et Blanc - Orchestral Score / Album Noir et Blanc by Darian Stavans.Noir et Blanc is a work that was totally conceived for orchestra. As we listen to the album we are intrigued, for the only element lacking is the contrast suggested by the title. Why? The answer is that contrasts do not exist. They are simply the furthermost points in a grayscale that when displayed like a fan shows these extremes and therefore their contrasts. The deeds and acts that flow inside our mask of power come and go in nostalgic melancholy through pain and glory trickling like the water in a brook, where tenderness meets madness. Sometimes everything seems the same even though each element acts differently. This album speaks about that intriguing grayscale and the powerful force that lets it plunge into the depths of human essence and the soul. In the face of facts, seemingly distinct and at the same time so alike, only courage will prove out their differences and make us dare call out the Noir et Blanc, the Black and White, but until that moment comes things will appear to flow in a grayscale. Orchestral work.64 pages.Duration: 39:00Website: www.darianstavans.comemail: darianstavans@gmail.comYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/darianstavans/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Darian.Stavans1.

Clarinet Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.876480 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Joe Procopio. Classical,Romantic Period. Individual part. 163 pages. JoeCopio Music LLC #1910115. Published by JoeCopio Music LLC (A0.876480). THE BEETHOVEN DUETS By Joe Procopio The Beethoven Duets by Joe Procopio is a collection of duets that artist -composer Joe Procopio has adapted and arranged from the 9 Scherzi found in Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9 Symphonies. These duets are the first of their kind in history making them noteworthy, unique and valuable. Each Scherzo is published not only for Clarinet but also for many other orchestral instruments. They are published individually for each instrument; in a Three Volume Collection with 3 Scherzi in each volume; and in a Complete Collection containing all three volumes. They are also available as a CD. Volume One has Scherzo No.1, Scherzo No. 2 and Scherzo No.3. Volume Two has Scherzo No.4, Scherzo No 5 and Scherzo No.6. Volume Three has Scherzo No.7, Scherzo No.8 and Scherzo No.9. The Complete Collection has all 3 Volumes for each instrument with all 9 Scherzi. What’s more they will soon be published in the Procopio PlayAlong Music Program. This is an exclusive MP3 music audio program personally designed and developed in which Player 1 plays along with a music audio track for Player 2. To be sure, The Beethoven Scherzi Duets for Clarinet are a marvel of Beethoven’s skill with sections reaching the sublime. It is my deep felt personal belief that these Scherzi will bring you great pleasure and long lasting satisfaction. Joe Procopio AN INTRODUCTION TO THE BEETHOVEN DUETS By Joe Procopio Because of the complexities, range and sonorities inherent in all of the Beethoven Symphonies, it may seem impossible to transcribe any one movement as a duet that is true to the composer. Nevertheless, I believe these duets contain the heart, soul and essence of Beethoven’s melodies, rhythms and expressions; even though these works are tiny when they are compared to the Master’s great musical creations which have no equal. In fact, there is no comparison. However, my sincere hope is that since I have rendered some of Beethoven’s music as duets, his music is now more readily available to all permitting a greater number of musicians and all the people who hear their performances to come to know and love a bit of the world’s most valuable, breathtaking and beautiful music. In truth, Beethoven’s music has stood the test of time. He astonished people in his day whenever he performed his music or had his music played. He still does today. To be sure, his music has enhanced and enriched the lives of many of us for over 200 years. In performing and listening to these Scherzi you will find the whole of each work a marvel of Beethoven’s skill with sections reaching the sublime. Few composers have been able to write down on paper music of such incredible beauty that it reflects the awesome splendor of God’s creation. What comes to mind immediately is Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony No. 6. It has been said, that much of his music mirrors not only the magnificence of God’s creation but also the radiance of God the Creator himself. In any event, this music is simply amazing and awe-inspiring. A joy to listen to and to play. I know and can safely say without any hesitation or reservations that this collection will bring you much enjoyment.

String Ensemble,String Quintet Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813840 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Contemporary,Folk,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 18 pages. Regis Bookshar #6533951. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813840). Largo (from Symphony No. 9 in E minor) (From the New World) (Db) (Violin Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (18 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (subtitled From the New World and popularly know as the New World Symphony), was composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:    I am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them.He further explained how Native American music influenced his symphony:  I have not actually used any of these (Native American) melodies. I have simply written original themes embodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes as subjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour. In 1893, a newspaper interview quoted Dvorak as saying, I found that the music of the negroes and of the Indians was practically identical, and that the music of the two races bore a remarkable similarity to the music of Scotland. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to this version for a Violin Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection which are readily available for a wide variety of instrumental en.

Mark O'Connor Musik International #6202197. Published by Mark O'Connor Musik International (A0.861805). Poem For Carlita (viola part – vln, vla, cel) MO142CViola Part (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor6 pages - 8:30 minutes in length Poem For Carlita In contemporary vocal music, there is a form called a story song. It is an odd form in that it does not contain any departure from the central idea; therefore there is no return. The story has a beginning and ending but uses subtle variation to push the idea along its way. .. much the way loving relationships evolve. The equivalent of the story song in classical music is a Poem, and this is what I have called this piece. An inspiration I used for my musical poem was the ocean and it’s repetition of waves as they fall in to the shoreline. I grew up near the ocean and remember how the sounds of the relentless waves used tocalm me. While it was the repetitive sound of the sea that moved me as a child, today, I observed that each wave was not the same but in fact slightly different. I was amazed that it seemed that no two waves looked or sounded the same to me. This natural occurrence seemed to mirror my love for wife Carla. Each day was just something a tiny bit different. It was very natural to make these kinds of life experience connections. Bridges that joined nature, love and art. The poem begins slowly and inquisitively and builds through in intensity with loud and mightily passionate moments of emotion before the music comes down peacefully and reflectively, until the last statement played by the violin signifies that the sea is calm once again. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 1998 Composed By Mark O’ConnorOriginally released on Appalachian Journey featuring Mark O’Connor, Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer, Sony ClassicalPoem for Carlita can be heard on Mark O'Connor's Crossing Bridges OMAC Recordshttps://omacrecords.com/omac-7-crossing-bridges Catalogue Number MO142CCopyright © 1998 by Mark O’Connor Music InternationalFor more information on violinist and composer Mark O'Connor, O’Connor String Camps, Touring Ensembles, Discography, Bio, Repertoire and more, please visitwww.markoconnor.com For information on the O’Connor Method – instructional book series for violin, viola, cello and school string orchestra programs:www.oconnormethod.com

Arellano, Jose Luis Jr #1089863. Published by Arellano, Jose Luis Jr (A0.1515510). Wooded Blur was based on the ideas of an impressionist style painting that if you take a closer look at a piece art you could only see blurriness. However, if you took a step back you could see the whole context. The main idea that you hear in the piece is the “closer look” that is so blurred that you don’tunderstand the context until you see the big picture. You hear this repeating pattern (the main idea) becoming home and the root of this atonal piece. The variation around thismain idea becomes the context and helps create the bigger picture. It allows youas the listener to see the character of the piece. The piece is the forest itself who isplayful, a trickster, and a guardian of his own home. The sections that take you on this strangejourney will give you glimpses of imagery that you can picture that gets you involved.Building you a perception of this Wooded Blur.

One of my last assignments as an Air Force musician before being stationed in Japan was to perform music in support of the 50th commemoration of what has become known in America as “Vietnam Memorial Day.”  It is observed on March 29 every year, the date when the last U.S. troops withdrew from Vietnam in 1973.  After the memorable ceremony in 2023, I lingered to talk with those mature veterans and to hear some of their experiences.  It was a strange feeling when I told them that my first assignment at my new duty station in Japan would be a series of cultural exchange performances in Vietnam.  What a somber generational bridge.I was only in Japan for a matter of days, including some intense rehearsals, before Pacific Brass (the brass quintet from the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific) packed up and headed to Hanoi to start our brief musical outreach in three cities.  My reflections were sobering as I contrasted my military service in Vietnam with the veterans whom I had just honored three months prior.  During some off-duty time, all five of the Pacific Brass military musicians found our way to the well-known Hòa Ló Prison, infamously known as the “Hanoi Hilton.”  Indeed, how vastly different was my brief military service in Vietnam! To the Vietnamese people, the “American War,” as they call it, is ancient history.  They are extremely forward-thinking, putting those dark years far from them, looking to the bright future that is theirs.  What an educational bridge of paradigms.  Although it was important for us as U.S. Servicemembers to witness the Hòa Ló Prison firsthand, our lot was to experience the beautiful present-day Vietnam with its rich culture of food, street shops, temples, dance, music, and other wonders that awed us all—including gongs! Our trombone player purchased a gong in a shop that sold little else besides gongs of all sizes and pitches.  That struck me as quintessentially Vietnamese, and the sights and sounds of that modest shop lingered in my imagination.  As we absorbed the extraordinary majesty of the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, ideas for this musical composition started to formulate as a bridge connecting American musical culture with Vietnamese traditional gongs.  For practicality in both notation and live performance, I scored the consort of 18 glorious “gongs” in my head for orchestral tubular bells.  It is a passionate hope that someday in a video presentation, a masterful cultural bridge of the two diverse countries will be crafted.  Better yet, what an experience it would be to have a legitimate gong consort perform live with Pacific Brass! The year of our visit, as we were coached many times by the Embassy’s Attaché, was a milestone landmark between the two nations, worthy of praise and celebration: the ten-year anniversary of the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership, signed by Presidents Obama and Sang in July 2013.  This bilateral relationship has bridged both nations’ commitment to economic engagement, cultural exchange, tourism, education, and human rights.  This composition is in celebration of this Comprehensive Partnership and a gift to the wonderful people of Vietnam.  May this music contribute to a continuing growth of positive relations bridging the two nations.

Instrumental Duet,Piano Cello,Flute,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1272503 By Maria Thompson Corley. By Anonymous. She received a degree in commercial music the year before COVID shut everything down, at a time before climate change made blizzards an anomaly here in Central PA. As a result, snow days still existed. I spent one of them doing the first draft of “Deep River,†her favorite.Later, I decided that if singers engage a cellist for a concert, they might like to program more than one piece for them, so I chose two more water-themed spirituals to complete the set. “His Name So Sweet†is a more meditative version of the song than I’ve generally heard. I wanted the piano, cello, and briefly the voice to imitate the fountain in the text. The mood is ecstasy, resulting from the fundamental change that baptism is meant to create. “Deep River†also includes “Michael Row The Boat Ashore†and “The Water Is Wide.†The latter isn’t a spiritual, however, taken together the message is that the river is deep, the water is wide, but with (the Archangel?) Michael’s help, Jordan can be crossed. “Wade in the Water†is one of the most well-known spirituals. I focus on the idea of escaping enslavement: the opening is quiet, furtive, maybe even nervous. The Moses in the text can be understood to be Harriet Tubman, who might urge escapees to wade in the water so pursuing dogs couldn’t follow their scent. In my mind, the ending symbolizes that the party has vanished, never to be enslaved again. The first instrumental version of “Deep River†was for trumpet and piano, performed by my sister, Alicia Thompson, and her son, Justin Griffin, during a church service in Atlanta shortly after I arranged it. After hearing a recording, I took borrowed her idea of adding a repeat (which she did to allow enough time for the ushers to take up collection). The clarinet, cello and piano version was premiered by the Isosceles Trio (Doris Hall-Gulati (clarinet), Sara Male (cello), and me (piano)). When Naima Burrs, violinist and conductor of the Petersburg Symphony, asked if I had any pieces for trio, I created a version for violin, piano and cello. The flute/piano/cello version may have been performed, but if so, nobody has mentioned it to me. Please note that the YouTube version uses a clarinet. The flute version is slightly different, to accommodate the difference in range.P.S. I’d love to hear that version, if you have a recording of it.

This score is in Bb, but, the audio is in Ab. How to read accidents in sheet music Lesson 9 Signs of change. This class is about sharp #, flat b and bequadro (I can't do this sign by keyboard. That's why it's important to watch this class that will be on the card in the upper right corner). There are still the signs of double sharp x or ## and double flat bb. Don't be folded bequadro. I ask permission to use pleonasm Sharp # function: raises the pitch of the note by a semitone up. Makes the note a semitone higher. B-flat function: lower the pitch of the note by a semitone down. Makes the note a semitone lower. Double sharp x or ## function: raise the pitch of the note by one step. Makes the note a higher pitch. Double-flat bb function: lower the pitch of the note by one tone. Makes the pitch of the note a lower pitch. Bequadro function (I can't make this signal by keyboard. That's why it's important to watch this class that will be on the cards in the upper right corner). Nullify both the sharp (whether it's doubled or not) and the flat function (whether it's doubled or not). The bequadro still cancels the accidents of the key signature. Lesson 10 Bars and bar numbers It is a vertical line placed on the pentagram. It serves to organize the writing of the score in a Cartesian way. When the amount of beats exceeds the measure, it is necessary to place the vertical line and continue in another measure. This is one of the reasons to know the bar count. Another reason is when a large group is going to rehearse a song and it is often necessary to stop the rehearsal in order to make necessary adjustments. In this case, to optimize the rehearsal, the music is not restarted from measure 1, but from a few measures before the adjustments made, whether by the group, conductors, etc. The barline cancels out the accidentals that occur. For example, if an F# note appears in the middle of a piece of music, when that F moves to the next measure, it will no longer be sharp. The barline also cancels the bequadro in this situation, that is, if by chance the music is not set to a key other than C major or A minor, when the bequadro appears precisely on the keynote note, in the next bar if it is not spelled again, the key signature accident takes effect. Cello,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314243 Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 19th Century,Contest,Festival,Historic,Romantic Period,Wedding. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #902984. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1314243). Saint-Saëns: The Swan (Le Cygne) movement 13 from the Carnival of the Animals Suite. One of his most popular and widely recognized works, it is the only movement from the Carnival Suite that Saint-Saëns permitted to be performed publicly during his lifetime. This is an excellent recital encore to demonstrate melodic playing and strategic phrasing. The Carnival of the AnimalsThe Carnival of the Animals is an entertaining musical suite of fourteen movements by Camille Saint-Saëns. The work was composed for private performance by an ensemble of two pianos and solo instruments. The Swan (No. 13) is among the fourteen most famous movements. In its entirety, it lasts about 25 minutes. Saint-Saëns BackgroundCharles-Camille Saint-Saëns 1835 – 1921) was, by all means, in particular, a famous French composer, brilliant organist, and significant musical mastermind of the Romantic era. Indeed, his most famous compositions, in the long run, include his Piano Concerto No. 2 (1868), Cello Concerto No. 1 (1872), and the Danse macabre (1874). Notwithstanding, we must also add Violin Concerto No. 3 (1880), Symphony No. 3 (the Organ Symphony, 1886), and, it must be remembered, Carnival of the Animals (1886) to the list. ChildhoodIt is essential to realize that Saint-Saëns was undoubtedly, in fact, a child musical prodigy. Consequently, with this in mind, he made his concert debut, albeit at ten years old. Another critical point to remember is that he expressly studied at the Paris Conservatoire, then, despite reality, conversely followed a traditional career path as a church organist. Nevertheless, twenty years later, on the other hand, he left to become a successful freelance pianist and composer despite, as has been noted, his former employment situation. Furthermore, his performances were, after all, markedly in demand - not only in Europe but, above all, in the Americas all in all as well. YouthA point often overlooked is that in his youth, Saint-Saëns was undoubtedly excited about the modern music of the day. He was, in essence, fond of the music of his contemporaries, particularly Schumann, Liszt, and, for the most part, Wagner. In contrast, however, his compositions seemed, in fact, primarily confined within the conservative classical tradition. Be that as it may, he was, at the same time, nevertheless, a scholar of musical history.CriticismOn the whole, his conservatism, in fact, ultimately brought him into frequent conflict in his later years with composers of the impressionist and, in particular, the dodecaphonic schools of musical thought. A point often overlooked is that he included neoclassical elements in his music, contrary to some critics. Furthermore, in so doing, he provided the most compelling evidence that he predicted the techniques and works by Stravinsky and Les Six. To put it another way, given these points, he was regarded, perhaps for the most part unfairly, as a non-progressive reactionary henceforth around the time of his passing. LegacySaint-Saëns taught briefly in Paris, where his students included Gabriel Fauré. Maurice Ravel later studied with Fauré. In conclusion, both Ravel and Fauré were powerfully influenced by Saint-Saëns, whom they respected as a musical mastermind.
