It is one of the very few instances in popular music where a relatively large portion of the Bible is set to music. An interesting and pertinent fact: in 1999, Pete Seeger arranged for 45% of the songwriting royalties to be donated to the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions - an organization dedicated to achieving a just peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
